I'm new here.
I usually run 3-5km in the morning just to keep in shape.
Thinking of getting a heart rate monitor for run to ensure I stay in within my target heart rate . Is it worth it? I don't see many using it?
*
Unless u have history of unusual heart beat/rate, I really think it is not wise to spend money on dis HRM thingy when u r still new, just run first, joint the group to get more feedback, opinions and till u really think it is necessary then buy. spend money to get a shoe that suit u is much wiser.

keep running on gym recently....well i must say running in gym is far more easier, i can maintain speed of 12.5km/h for 50 min to 1 hour without feeling hard. If outdoor, 12km/h for 50 min i have to run very hard.
*
too bad there is no race for running on treadmill, so go outdoor more, u ll love it rclxms.gif

Hey guys, normally I only managed to run 5KM non stop, and for these 2 days straight I've been running 6KM for each running session. This morning, I am starting to feel even more pain and sore muscles at the back of my lower legs and thigh in comparison to the post of first running session. Should I continue to run tonight or should I rest? For the record, usually I don't feel pain or have sore muscles after running 5KM.
*
rest bro, else get injured then susah, rest is also part of training..

Saw someone wearing it in Ipoh in July and was running at fast, almost 5 min/km pace.

Me always have sleeping disorder the night before my race sweat.gif Jumped onto bed as early as 9pm++, rolling on the bed till midnight and still couldn't finish counting the sheeps! Geez.

Seniors told me that is normal, once you participated more than enough races, this kind of synptom will dissapear.

Good thing is I feel charged & doesnt seem tired at all during the race. biggrin.gif But I do sleep like a log after every race.

I second that rclxms.gif

normally they would recommend u the Injinji, which cost RM50 per pair...but for myself, i use a cheapskate RM10 adidas or nike socks..no problem...

i tink its ur shoes problem...like for my feet, i have wide feet, and most darn running shoes are narrow towards the toe.. vmad.gif  vmad.gif so i ended up sometime needed to get a bit bigger... smile.gif

btw, u not using court shoes i hope? hmm.gif
*
Try sockless see, I got just two pairs of shoes, one I ran sockless bcos toe box too tide, kind of like it very much. only problem is smelly shoes. I wash insole after every run.

I was looking around for running short pants (eg Nike, Adidas, Brooks). Fuyoh, branded really expensive. >RM80 range.

Is there big difference with those shorts or is it expensive cause branded?

I don't mind non branded alternatives, any suggestions?
*
I bought 4 pairs from pasar lelong or factory reject for Brooks, got a bit cacat but sure very comfortable especially birdy area. tongue.gif and it was only RM10 a piece. drool.gif

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ Oct 23 2012, 04:00 PM)
guys and gals...

as i planned to go on a frequent visit to my condo gym (started and ongoing for 2 weeks already), focusing more on 15 mins run each for 2 sessions and some upper body exercise  and my gf is already on long term consistent gym going (mostly on treadmills and  body combat)...and also we run one or two marathons a year....not full marathon...

i'm thinking we shud get some supplements...especially for joints and the "knee cap thingy"..as we are  more focus on running...

any idea what to take? fish oil?

for now we are targetting to buy one bottle and share among us 2...and will go for one kind of supplement only now...

any advice?
*
Are u guys >50? if u run correctly, joints shud not be painful, supplements are oso unnecessary. Google up about running posture and running efficiency. Running on treadmill doesn't hurt much compare to road.

hi....

nope..we are not 50s...we are both 28..

precisely why i want to consider supplement is because we don't want the constant running/pressure to affect our joint in a bad way and make us suffer during old age...

let's say it's just for precaution  smile.gif
*
u shud join a race one day n meet the veteran runners to tell running really doesn't really hurt ur joints if u run on proper posture.
best if u could run barefooted.
