2'x2' Tiles Concrete Table is it more durable than others? Why so many complaints about the tiles finished 'pop up'? What is the life span for 2'x2' Tiles Concrete Table? Is it because adhesive can't have good bonding with the polished tiles?

Maybe the tiles are placed too close together? Or not "soaked" before laying?

Initially I wanted to lay my 2x2 tiles as close together as possible so they'll look nicer. But my tiling sifu advised against it, he said it'll look good but the tiles might pop.

Then I looked at the brochure from Feruni Gem series. It recommended a minimum gap of 3mm, even though the tiles have rectified edge.

wall tiles should have soaked before laying but not 2x2 tiles for table top. minimum gap of 3mm recommended by Feruni? Good information. Will instruct my tiler to take note. thank you.

Don't mind me asking... Why is the polished edge a lighter colour the the rest of the tile? Didn't you use a full body tile?

Since the depth of the table top are around 2', using 2x2 tiles will reduce the no. of joints tongue.gif

Agree and joints trap dirt also making cleaning difficult. sweat.gif

thank you dolphinmouse, kelvyn and skydrop for your replies. I was just wondering why coz i personally thot that putting smaller tiles or maybe combination of of tiles & mosaic for example may enhance the overall "look" of the table top smile.gif so just wondering whether anyone has done so smile.gif

big tiles tend to pop up are basically because of the different of coeeficient of expansion between the tiles and the base(concrete /table top). That's why whenever using 2x2 or bigger tiles must use additives inside the simen mix. All experience tiles layer know about it. Just make sure they use it. The tiles wont pop up immediately, they will pop up after 2-3 months, depending on the wheather.

Is full body tiles but after polished the colour will be lighter. According to the tiles shop, all black galaxy tiles are from China.

People always believe tiles concrete table more durable ma... but because the concrete table got many gap with cement so look not so nice. smaller tiles to do concrete table i seldom see. My parent house use 1'x1' for concrete table and had been used for 20 years still very strong. Haha...

Generally, I only saw three types of Black Color 2X2 Tiles for table top.

1) Pure Black
2) Black with Gold sparkles
3) Black with Gold and Silver Sparkles (but gold sparkles is more than silver)

Workmanship is the key for all the tiling.

I m quite pleased with my Chinese tiler. Of coz I am not fussy like line must be very straight, gap not too big etc.

I'm just grateful he finish fast, and if I giv any comment he will take into consideration and won't be rude...thankfully
