Anti-aliasing doesn't work when selection, is inversed in photoshop.

Have anyone noticed that when you try to inverse a selection, say, You used the Magic Wand tool to select the background, and inverse the selection so the object in the picture gets selected instead, and do a "Layer Via Cut", the edges are rough instead of smoothen out.

Of course, you can always delete the selection after selecting the selection leaving only the object in the layer.

Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

you can try feather it after selection to produce softer edge. alternatively, you can try blur tool to soften the edges after cutting.

Why dont you add a bit more effort by using the path to edge out the object? The path could be saved and it helps a lot if you want to use it later.

the feather tool seemed to soften a little too much! ;-)

What I'm trying to emphasize is about the tool or method that you use to edge out objects. By using the magic wand tool, you are selecting the image via its pixels, thats why the edge of them are rough. The path functon is used to create a more smooth and clean croped-out object especially if the background comes in multi-colors (you know what I mean).

First safe the path you have created. Then make selection out of the path. Go to your desired layer. Go to Layer - Add Layer Mask - Reveal Selection. Then you have a smooth edged masked object. Happy trying laugh.gif
