I have dell latitude e6420. planning to upgrade to 8gb RAM.. I saw the price list for Kingston RAM.. and there's option for Dell specific system RAM.. what is the different between using the ValueRAM and the brand-specific RAM? coz the price diff is also quite significant

Crucial Demonstrates DDR4-2133 Modules

QUOTE
We’re not likely to be running DDR4 any time soon on desktops, and even most laptops are probably over a year away from getting the upgrade, but now is the time to prepare for the shift. To that end, Micron (Crucial) has a DDR4 demonstration running at CES 2013.

Hi,
Here's my critical take on memory selection.
never simply buy any brand, model and type just because you think it fits the slot.
Always research not for the sake of price but balance price and performance.
For clone stuff they carry for the mainboard those are ok to use but still check it with
http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/options/

For all the branded units always buy system-specific memory only three distributor to sell not too hard

If the dealer refuse to help then call them to help

Hi,
I know some people say all the same but they are not test memory is compatible memory. it is not about the price but working capability and speed of performance

Better off with the brand Kingston but buy the Hyper X model rather some doggy brand with doggy design and name.
Just because the item is pretty to look at does not mean it will run.
And some more it is a newly born brand. why risk it?
What more the memory on their website is not even supporting this mainboard.
Why would this be better than the Kingston one?

and now i am wondering will there got any SIGNIFICANT performance differences between each brand under SAME clocking speed.

I must admit it looks more awesome than kingston hyperX ram especially during night.

and it offer lifetime warranty too.

the cons is it cant be OC as much as other performance RAM use to, probably due to extra LED? hmm.gif

Those are pretty good timings for 1600 MHz, but of course I pushed the memory.  To my disappointment I was only able to bring the memory up to DDR3-1866 with timings of 10-10-10-28 at 1.65v.  I really thought I could get the memory up to 2133 MHz, just because all of the other memory I have reviewed that was 1600 MHz I was able to bring up to that speed if not higher.

BTW the Phenom II should support 1600MHz ram just fine according to the forum moderator:

QUOTE
With a Phenom II installed, you have memory multipliers in the BIOS available up to x8 or DDR3-1600 - above that and you will have to do a reference clock increase.

Guys ... I was thinking of adding another 4 GB to become 8GB total

Why suddenly all the ddr3 ram so expensive ?

I'm looking at DDR3 ram but got 8chips and 16 chips .. What's the difference ?

Is t necessary for me to go 8GB from 4 GB ? Any big difference ?
