QUOTE(turbocharged @ Jun 25 2012, 09:12 PM)
From sos:

The proposed amendment seeks to allow a person to make authorised left turns in accordance with traffic signs, lawfully placed on a road, permitting such a move.

However, this is notwithstanding a red signal or other traffic signs indicating a place where traffic must stop at any traffic junction.

The person must also stop before the marked stop line on the road to ascertain if it is safe to make the authorised left turn before doing so.

Those who contravene this provision shall be liable to a fine of not less than RM300 and not more than RM2,000.

End sos.

This is so typical of Malaysian govt...

1. Amend to allow drivers to turn left according to traffic signs... and must stop at marked stop line.... else u kena fine.... errr.... isnt that what we are following oredi NOW??? So turning left from a road (without traffic lights) as what we are doing now, is totally illegal...??? doh.gif doh.gif

2. The above cannot be done if there is a stop sign, or red traffic lights.... isnt this the current law that we are follow?? And honestly how many actually stops totally at a left turn pass even if there is a white line across the road with a STOP sign?? Ask those drivers to kena sideswiped by all those jokers who comes out of small road WITHOUT stopping....

So, the amendment is to do what again..?? Except to increase the max fine... which will then allow the mata to drink more kopi aje.... doh.gif doh.gif

QUOTE(miuk @ Jun 25 2012, 09:56 PM)
Need clarify abit. It does not gives you xtra hp nor does it reduce the transmission losses (very small amount only).

What the LCP does is that it reduces the rotational mass located on the crank pulley, which in turns reduces the inertia load (wiki it, in laymans term is something somewhat similar to momentum). So by having a lower Inertia, it becomes easier for the engine to change rotational speed (key point, change in speed, nothing to do with torque or power output). For eg, if you go to the supermarket, it'll be easier for you to push an empty trolley vs a trolley filled with 10 bags of rice, when in fact the power pushing it (you) remains the same.

So once the engine is at constant speed, the only area where load is reduced, only comes from the reduced friction on the bearing due to lower weight (Hence why I mention earlier, very slight reduction in transmission losses).
*
rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

This is the most accurate descriptive function of the LCP.... which DONT ADD torque or ponies, and any perceived improvements are all that, perceived by the mind.... this reinforces the mere notion that LCP is not as great an investment as one may perceive....

And Eiraku-chaaaaaaaan.... your perception is senget manyak..... the LCP actually reduces engine braking by the same principle that the lighter pulley CANNOT maintain the same inertia and momentum as a heavier pulley.... so having LCP actually dont slow the car much with engine braking as compared to a car without....

I totally understand.

I think.

hmm.gif

Laymans = Engine easier to rev without change in output power? Uh.

Easier to rev = Better response? But without any changes in output power, it just gets to any rev point easier? Why the heck would anybody wanna do that?

My Gran Turismo 2 educated brain tells me that it sounds like what a lightened flywheel would do. Need more Googling.

@UncPoad: Toyota engined 5 Series... shakehead.gif
*
Its all about reaching the max RPM range using the least power needed and faster.... with a lighter pulley, your engine spins easier and faster to the max output 4500 RPM range... so it struggles less to reach there, and to maintain the RPM there...

Also, whatever additional little power gained (from the reduced load) will translate faster to the wheel.... but its negligible...

Yes, power up Gran Turismo 5 (or 2) the lighten flywheel is similar, except that refers to the gears in the gearbox... works with same principle....

Ehhhhh? I thought with LCP you cannot coast as far when foot is off the gas due to the loss of rotational inertia or something (aka huge rev drop compared to nomal)?

Or is it the other way around?
*
Engine braking here refers to the engine and gears spinning at high RPM to slow down the rotational speed of the wheels.... or whachamacallit la.... when you are going downhill....

And add to the fact that seebeetee auto upshifts when the RPM is high, you can be caught off guard with a sudden increase in speed, as opposed to slowing down with engine braking....

Without reading the full proposed amendment.  I would assume that its to allow what some countries, ie US, and some towns in Malaysia where u can turn left at normal traffic lights as long as traffic is clear. For eg the intersection at 32square, can turn left into umw road even when lights are red as longs as no cars.
*
No no.... just read the excerpt that I lifted.... you CANNOT turn if there is a red lights on.....

Which is my question earlier.... isnt this already practiced in our country as law, and changing this will let the mata have a field day screwing you up.... coz most drivers will think like you and beat the red lights.... and given the fine is now maxed at 2,000.... u can figure what is going to happen la...

Empty will accelerate faster and stop faster (and can change speeds faster). Full will go to a faster top speed (due to more potential energy due to increased mass) and move further aka stop slower (due to pakcik Inertia).

The cart lar.

If my Form 4 physics memory serves me right anyway.
*
U go to a mall and test this out, then come back and let me know....

Lighter = goes faster and stops further, there is less downwards force and lesser friction due to it...

Heavier = goes slower and stops earlier, converse of the above....

DIAM LA BODOH.... u not kindy kid, but bodoh...

The analogy is to refer to the same power output the engine generates on the pulley, lightened and heavy...

Same principle applies, your car is more spirited and takes off easier if you are alone but sluggish-ier when you have 5 Turbo-tummied Tebuja in the car.... no...??
