sure got extra suggestion, but screen size is bigger than you want which is around 4 inch try look for xperia tx (4.5 inch if not mistaken) or galaxy s3 (4.8 inch)

use custom rom helps. But better just get note 2. Using one love it. I wont even consider note 1.

just thinking that both had not much different, just floating panel, improved S-pen, Ram and core... but, i read most user review state that note 2 also got such problem... hmm...

Note 1 is slow and laggy.
The difference on note 2
Its very smooth no lag even with live wall paper. Battery life its amazing heavy extreme usage can last 5 to 7 hours
Medium usage can last 5 to 10 hours
Light usage can last 1 day to 2 days

very brief. i just borrowed my friend's one to tengok. ur friend is right. it gets quite laggy. if u do get note1, you should root it and install current rom for smoothness.
