QUOTE(burb @ Jul 3 2012, 06:26 PM) updated news... my wife g.note just heated itself up until it shut down by itself and cannot be turned on for 1 hour!!! OMG!!! Kimchi products are never built to last. Im not against S3.. but this experience definitely will affect my view on samsung product... hmm... Quality is bad n they will drag their feet to provide software updates. Ip4s is definitely the better buy. |

QUOTE(pikacu @ Jul 4 2012, 11:29 AM) samsung and iphone phones made in china..not kimchi...while you're saying samsung not gonna last, so does iphone LOL the only made in kimchi product so far, recently, only Lumia 900 quality of product depends on design and company's quality policy. not much related to where it is produced. for example, if ur mother gives birth to u in USA, but smokes, eat rubbish and junk food everyday, the fetus also surely cacat. but if she gives birth to u in bangladesh, but eat ginseng, doesn't smoke etc... what do u think? |

Think twice, or thrice or even many times before buying s3.
A) The design is really fugly and u will start hating it soon B) touchwiz interface sucks and becomes boring after some time. Example Thr is still SH who went arnd KL to buy the s3 when it first launched. And i still remember his face when finally found one, like found god or somethg. But look now, he already selling it and said it was BORING. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2439539&hl= LOL If u wanna buy s3, wait after note is launched. Very likely can get for arnd 1400. |

QUOTE(deric79k @ Jul 23 2012, 05:16 PM) Sure s3 will drop price, only apple control the price. Hear ppl say will launch iPhone 5 at sept or oct. any idea? Not apple who control price of 2nd hand.Just that apple provides free software upgrades even for 2 generations ago phone. While SAMSENG will just tell u to piss off and get a new one. S2 was released later than 3GS but cannot even get ICS. LOL Sucks to buy SAMSENG. Treat existing customers like beggars. |

QUOTE(xin @ Jul 24 2012, 02:18 PM) cant wholly blame Samsung (pronounced as samseng in hongkong), they are diff from Apple as they need to coverup so many lineups of models from their range. So its normal for them to fast phased out some older models. Heck even windows closed down marketplace for WinMo 6.5. That's the reality. But doesn't change the fact that s3 value is dropping like a ton of bricks. So for those who think of buy s3 and then later sell for ip5...think again! |

QUOTE(xin @ Jul 25 2012, 04:51 PM) What sort of a comment is this? Toyota has more range and models in Malaysia but their resale value is best.It depends more on the after sales support. In smartphone case, how long ur phone can stay up to date wt latest software. Apple takes care of their customers very well. iPhone 3GS was released wt ios 4 i think abt 3 years ago and now can still be upgrade to ios 6. |

QUOTE(GameFr3ak @ Jul 30 2012, 11:03 AM) People who firmly say "ip5 > s3" are idiots. By saying that out of baseless facts, for something that's not even announced yet. For a smartphone, 3.5" is quite perfect. Too big screen requires 2 handed operation. For now, iphone 4s is great. It's very good for the mass general. If you want something good out of the box, get iphone. If you like to tweak your phone to the max, tamper with the kernel, modem and ROM, get Android. I'll recommend Galaxy Nexus instead of s3. For it's cheap price and strong support from Google (look at Nexus S, a year 2010 phone, and it has JellyBean already). Aside from the OS differences. Look at the hardware. Yes iPhone looks nice but how many naked users out there? I dare say 80% of users out there have casing covering the beautiful yet impractical glass design. Android phones may not look as pretty but they're very practical. In most cases, the plastics will take the impact. They're cheap to replace. One of the biggest downside of the iPhone, its screen size. Come on, 3.5" ? Retine display or not, it's too small. Would you enjoy a HD movie on a 3.5' or a 4.3'-5'3 screen? And gaming experience is greatly enhanced on bigger screen, regardless of the resolution. In the end, I'll still recommend iphone4. Given its cheap price. It's not like it don't crash or lag, it's hidden from the user so mass majority of the people thinks that it never crashes. Android is only as good as the user. If one would only get angry or annoyed for crashing on the stock software, rather than troubleshooting the issue finding the root cause, then avoid Android. For web surfing, retina screen and Apple's safari makes web surfing such a joy with razor sharp text and pinch to zoom. Who wld watch HD movies on even a 5.3"? U must be very silly and have squinty eyes!!! To enjoy movie, shld watch on proper HDTV at least. And the best thg is, apple is going to change things again in iPhone 5. |

QUOTE(GameFr3ak @ Jul 30 2012, 07:55 PM) I wont watch HD movies on my phone. I usually watch them on my TV. But I do stream HD youtube videos. I also watch series on my phone. Probably some shows with foreign language where I need to rely to subtitles. On a 3.5' screen, you can hardly read any subtitles. It's just too small. Any phone with the latest OS, Jelly bean, will have equal smoothness in browsing experience. Obviously u r a troll. Go back to ur android cave.Razor sharp text. Right. It may be sharp but it's not really that distinguishable. People have done countless experiments on random people walking on the streets. They show people 2 ipads, one of them is the ipad3 (new ipad) the other, ipad2. People still pick the wrong one. (At around 70:30 ratio of correct picks. It could of been worst if they show up with 3 ipads) It is quite perfect for one handed operation. But if Apple releases two models of iphone5 4.3' screen and 3.5' screen at the same price. Which one would you get? In my honest opinion, retina display is a gimmick. |

QUOTE(lightning69 @ Jul 31 2012, 02:32 PM) The whole idea about a simple OS is to do away with folders so why do you need a file manager for? Android is so much like Windows which I am moving away from. +1SD card appears to be a great thing for android phones but I think its more of a curse. I really hate it when the android system have to scan and scan the sd card. The bigger the sd card capacity and more files it contain, the longer it takes and that really becomes a pain after a while. Move your programs from internal to external sd card storage and it takes ages to open up the program. Iphone never have this stupid scan card thing and if you want more space, there is always a larger capacity iPhone. In the end if android user think that having external SD card is such a great thing, Think AGain! That is why apple user Think Differently! They rather spend more and have a OS that is friendly which you don't have to worry about folder etc and no need to have extra storage that need scanning all the time! Think ext cards are prehistoric ady. Like 5.25" and 3.5" diskette. Everybody uses cloud nowadays. |

I type faster in my 3.5 inch iphone than those jumbo size screen such as note or s3 who watches movies on the phone anyway? even 10" is just acceptable.droidfags like big screen bcos it compensates for somethg theylack. Ppl disable them bcos too eat battery. If gaming is your first priority, then no need consider. It will only be iOS. If not, then there's a lot to compare on. I rarely used widgets nor live wallpaper nor will I question why some people swear on them like you do. I only care how it served my purpose. |

QUOTE(ramz @ Aug 8 2012, 07:23 AM) i'm a practical guy. i use my phone to make my life easier, and not so much for entertainment. i show u some pracitcal examples. i don't bring my computer anymore when i am out of office for short stints. so i rely on my phone. u r using traditional way of file sharing. instead of so troublesome to synch here and there, carrying arnd usb drives, why dun u use iCloud service?1. i want a phone that can transfer files easily. coz when my client ask for a file, i can just whip it out and give it to him in usb drive, and when my client give me a usb drive that contains a file that i need, i can just transfer it easily to my phone (act as an interim computer) 2. i want a phone that can read my attachments offline. where i visit sometimes no internet or very slow internet. so not all the time i can rely on the dropbox cloud service. 3. i want a phone that can easily communicate with my computer. drag and drop style. coz when i am back on my computer, all my files that i transferred to my phone now i will transfer to my computer. and i want to transfer fast without loading any kind of "synch" software. coz sometimes the computer i am using doesn't have that kind of sync software 4. i want a phone that i can whip out my sd card and just give to the client to copy in case all other method of transfer fails (bluetooth is soooo combersome, dropbox don't work if no wifi, usb drive sometimes i forgot to bring) 5. i want a phone can play all kinds of video. sometimes my client give me a work related video, and its in avi format. i want it to be able to transfer into my phone, and play on my phone. so which phone u think is suitable for my everyday practical usage? of course is not for leisure. for leisure i don't use a phone i use a tablet. and guess what tablet is that? fast, convenient and trouble-free. or maybe u always work in isolated places. then different story lar. if like that, better use pen and paper. LOL |

QUOTE(ramz @ Aug 9 2012, 05:42 AM) It's an unreasonable world out there kid. Cloud service is not the solution to everything. Out There u don't get the comfort of your home wifi. Out there U only get a quota of 1g per month. U think clients are so willing to share their wifi with u? And if someone give u something in pen drive do u say to him "take it back and email to me instead". What happen if it's 1 g in size? U think he will tolerate your request? well, nowadays my client just upload their files into my corporate dropbox account. it is printed in our company's business card. Some people suggested bring a lap top. That is correct for some cases where I actually do. But when I don't I still got my phone that I can depend on. Is about convenience. its about flexibility. Things don't always go the way you plan it. many clients are overjoyed bcos it is so much convenience for them. some even mentioned that it is much safer method. imagine if u keep ur important files on thumbdrive and lost it. but this is getting out of topic. many ppl are used to the old ways and keep resisting change. but there are always better methods out there. just got to plan properly. apple leads the way. think different. |

QUOTE(ramz @ Aug 10 2012, 07:04 AM) let's live in your hypothetical world for a moment. All transfers are on the cloud. there is no longer a need to transfer through on the contrary, u r in the past. pls start to think of the future.1. pendrives - outdated technology. useful only in rural and out-of-reach areas. 2. portable hardisk useful only for large-scale storage. 3. bluetooth useful only for handsfree and headphones. 4. wifi direct if got wifi, shld got cloud ady. 5. nfc limited usefulness. probably for mobile wallet 6. usb/memory cards. ![]() possible? possible yes. but it is happening today? this is 2012. the methods above for transfering files are very much alive. i am not living in the future. i am living in the now. apple can lead the way i don't care. but i want today's solutions, not tomorrow's. |
