After going on hiatus after a performance on a music TV show last New Year’s Eve, we found out on the 2nd that singer songwriter YUI (26) would restart her activities in the rock band “FLOWER FLOWER.” Drastically cutting her long hair off, the now short haired blonde YUI, who is the main vocalist in the above mentioned band, will make the first official debut at the rock fest “Japan Jam 2013,” which will take place on May 4th in Tokyo – Shin-Kiba STUDIO COAST.
活動休止前に「新たに挑戦したいことが見つかった」「“YUI”としての復帰は考えていない」と話していたYUIが、バンドで再出発する。自身が敬愛するミュージシャンに声をかけ、バンドを結成。今年に入ってからスタジオセッションを開始し、先月から全国数ヶ所でシークレットライブを行って準備を進めてきたYUIは「このメンバーで音を出したら音楽を純粋に楽しめると思った。それぞれのアイデアやプレイから新たな閃きや音楽の可能性が自然と広がってきている」と手応え十分の様子だ。

By calling out to the musicians that she herself respects and loves, the band was formed. From the start of this year, they started doing studio sessions and from last month, they started playing secret lives in various places across the country, and as she is steadily preparing (for their debut), YUI said “With these members, once we produce a sound together, I thought that I could genuinely enjoy music this way. With our different ideas and play styles, the potential of our insight and music just naturally expands.” It seems like the results are extremely satisfying.
バンド名は「気どってなくて自然な名前にしたかった。かっこいい名前はいくらでもあったかもしれないけど、あえて肩の力が抜けている、自然と入り込んでくる名前にしたかった。パワフルでおもしろい発想を自由に表現したい」という気持ちを込めて命名したという。
For the band name, she put in all her feelings of, “I wanted to pick a name that wasn’t flashy, but was natural. There were probably a lot of cool names that I could’ve picked, but purposely, instead of doing that, I wanted to pick a name that seemed effortless and relaxing, and had a natural feeling injected into it. I want to express powerful and interesting ideas freely.” and thus named the band what it is.
同バンドは、5月4日の『Japan Jam』出演を皮切りに、同26日に東京・新木場の若洲公園で行われる『TOKYO METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL 2013』に出演することも決まっている。楽曲のリリースは現時点では未定。3日深夜0時に公式サイト（flowerflower-net.jp）が開設された。
Starting with the performance on May 4th, the band is also scheduled to perform at “TOKYO METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL 2013″ which will be held on the 26th in Tokyo at Shin-Kiba’s Wakasu Park. 昨年末をもって活動休止していたシンガーソングライターのYUIが、「FLOWER FLOWER（フラワーフラワー）」というバンドで活動を再開することが明らかとなった。

昨年11月に突然、活動休止を発表してファンを驚かせたYUI。その後にGyaO!で公開した動画「MESSAGE from YUI」内で、休止理由について「自分の心が壊れてしまった姿を見せたくなかった」「心が折れちゃったというか、歌が歌えないくらいになっちゃった」などと赤裸々に明かしたことでも大きな話題となったが、活動休止からわずか数日後の今年1月にはバンドのメンバーを率いて関西地方のライブハウスに飛び入り出演し、ロングの黒髪をバッサリと切ったショートヘア姿を披露したことが一部報道により明らかとなり、再びファンを驚かせていた。

Singer/songwriter YUI, who went on hiatus at the end of 2012, is restarting her musical activities as the band FLOWER FLOWER. 公開されたライブ写真を見る限り、ボーイッシュな金髪姿となったYUIがボーカル＆ギターを務めるFLOWER FLOWERが、ベース、ドラム、キーボードという編成のバンドであることがわかる。写真のYUIはアコースティックギターを弾いているが、その背後にはフェンダー製ジャガーかジャズマスターを思わせるギターとVOXのアンプがセットされていることからも、ロックなサウンドが期待できそうだ。
