QUOTE(SurpriseZZZZZ @ Jun 20 2012, 12:41 AM) Get a RMBP. thanks for your suggestion! but i have no money for upgrading to 16gb ram If you are in IT courses, high chance you will change your laptop to a faster speed laptop within 1-2 years time if you are using MBA. It is due to the nature of your course which required you to have a performing laptop. The RMBP that you are getting is even faster than MBP 17' 3.4 Ghz 2011 edition. 10% faster. Most likely you will not need to change the laptop for the rest of your study. Macbook Air is good for mobility. But MBA mobility comes with a price. A reduction in terms of performance. The new RMBP has both, mobility and performance. 2KG for a 15's laptop is considered very light weight already. The new RMBP is 50% faster compared to MBA. If you are going to use VM a lot, get 16GB ram. GeekBench The RMBP with 16GB RAM, 256 GB SSD is RM 6,811.00 (Use Educational Pricing since you are studying) Educational Pricing (Apple Store) to be frank, im so scare of lugging a 6k laptop around. nowadays i heard many phone, laptop robbery. goshh.. if my rmbp get robbed anyway, macbook air really cannot tahan the power? |

hey guys, im not sure which option I want.
1) I order a rMBP with student price and I can upgrade the ram from 8GB to 16GB but 26 July i'm going to kl to further my study, will it be enough time to reach here (sabah) ? 2) If I buy from KL apple retail store but no student price. Means no upgrade to 16GB ram. |

QUOTE(Miyabi @ Jul 2 2012, 08:44 PM) I can see some argument here. Anyway seeing the new RMBP having all parts non-upgradeable, its always wise to max out everything (if you can afford it). I also, will no hesitate to max out the ram if I'm buying one while the SSD upgrade is on other hand, way too expensive. It's my first time staying in condo. I wonder where they will put my macbook pro if I'm not at home. Any idea? btw, I don't have car in KL. not so convenient. I called Taylor's Campus store but they say it will reach between 1-2 weeks, I think they just estimate. Not confirm.1) You better have someone to take the delivery on behalf just in case. 2) You can still buy online with student price, but having the address of delivery change to KL. |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 4 2012, 10:54 PM) Good evening from Istanbul. It's 5:50pm here. very nice setup stringfellow! Stuck here for 3 nights, it's summer here and freaking 33-35 degrees HOT with dry heat. Not gonna do any sightseeing in this stupid weather, so I've prepped this in the hotel room for the entire duration of the stay. ![]() Retina MacBook Pro, running Diablo 3, StarCraft 2 and Steam games. The silver behemoth is the 6TB Thunderbolt Duo drive feeding 6TB worth of 720p/1080p movies and TV shows via Plex, Retina iPad, Retina iPhone 4S (used to take this pic, which makes me Retinized across all my portable devices), and PSVita. No moments of boredom here. The only boring time is the time to venture out of the room to get something to eat. Turkish food isn't exactly "delightful". wonder how many kilos are this total up haha abit off topic here. where you download those 720p/1080p video that store inside your WD thunderbolt duo? or you buy from itunes store? |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 4 2012, 11:42 PM) The reason why it still qualifies as Retina is the fact that the screen pixels aren't discernible from the normal distance of viewing. When it comes to iPhone, you view the screen closer, therefore it needs a greater PPI count. You view the Retina iPad much further than iPhone 4S, and still unable to discern the pixel structure of the screen at normal viewing distance. The same principles applies to the Retina MBP. holy moly, very nice collection u have there In all cases, the Retina definition doesn't apply when you view them closer than their optimum viewing distance. If I put my eyeballs millimeters from the iPhone 4S screen, the Retina doesn't apply anymore. The same with Retina iPad and Retina MBP. Nobody views their Retina devices out of context when it comes to the viewing distance other than the craziest pixel-peepers and optically-challenged people. Added on July 4, 2012, 11:46 pm Some ripped from BD collection I have, the rest, you have to be resourceful. Not gonna elaborate on that. A sample of movies in that 6TB Thunderbolt Duo. A tip of the iceberg compared to the content in the Pegasus Thunderbolt at home. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « im support about the Retina part. Not that you going to stick your eyeball on MBP Retina |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 5 2012, 11:56 PM) One aspect that I don't see being mentioned at all is how good the MBP RD speakers are. Sure, I listen most of the time on my K550, but I was surprised how good they sound for a notebook speaker. Separation is great especially when listening to "Hanuman" by Rodrigo Y Gabriela guitar duel. For real stringfellow? I was about to make my purchase on Big Jambox for my MBPR lol » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Been using this all this while with demuxed stereo with TV shows and movies, but it was a pleasant surprise when I fired up my lossless iTunes library and had a listen on notebook speakers alone. Great job, Apple! *or maybe I've had my expectations tempered by the tinny MBA speakers all this while. Either way, I can get away without using my Jambox now!* How is a Jambox compare to MBPR speaker? sorry, not a audiophile here |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 6 2012, 01:25 AM) Yes, for real. cool, i was planing to use jambox when i go to holiday with my girlfriend. hmm. since you say like that, I will notice on the speaker when i get my mbpr. I don't have the big Jambox, only have the regular one. Plus, dont wanna be a douche and blast music loud till the neighbors/next-door hotel room tenants complain. 60% on iTunes and it's plenty loud. Jambox uses Bluetooth A2DP 1.2 Profile, which means lossy compression and decompression, unlike Kleer. Sure, if you like your bass, Jambox gives thumpy bass, but I'm not a basshead (not anymore). Thanks |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 6 2012, 03:33 AM) Yup purchased it at the link previously provided. An investment I didn't regret one bit. It was especially apparent on the MBA coz the speaker is really tiny. downloading trial. Although im not using laptop now but i wonder how it sounds like.btw, how much you purchase for? EDIT: my bad, no option for my lao ya speaker. I'm using mac mini so yeah. I guess I will try it once I got my RMBP This post has been edited by Xirality: Jul 6 2012, 03:52 AM |

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 6 2012, 02:11 PM) For the 13" MBA, the leather envelope sleeve is a brand from Australia, I can't remember the name. I'll look it up once I get back from Istanbul. These kickstarter guy really have good idea. Saw few good stuff on there already. For the iPad, I have three different sleeves/cases from Waterfield. http://sfbags.com/products/ipad-cases/ipad-cases.php .I have the Slip Case, the Smart Case and the Ultimate SleeveCase. You can guess, I'm very enamored by these San Francisco guys, and their products are built with the utmost precision and care. I'll be buying their MBP RD SleeveCase once they are back in production in mid-July. You're welcome! For owners of MBP/MBA with SD card slots, this Kickstarter project is pretty interesting. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/134231...nifty-minidrive It'll add a semi-permanent storage option via SD card slot on your MBA/MBP with the card FLUSH against the side. Go pledge your support at the link to get the project off the ground. I wonder if microsd card have 128gb Anyone open bulk for it ? |
