Be advised that the macbook pro (regardless retina or not) is for power users wanting to do serious video or photo editing work, therefore they offer 16GB or ram CTO and 2.7Ghz processor. In normal usage, for normal casual users you wouldn't need 16GB at all unless you like to open many applications at the same time, or two games at one time (silly?). The 2.7Ghz processor has a bigger L3 cache of 8mb compared to the 2.3 or 2.6 versions that only has 6mb. If you're just using it just for web browsing, emails and light stuff like that you won't even notice a fraction of a difference in processor speed as the difference is less than 10%. But if you're doing editing work it will be a charm to have the 2.7Ghz processor as big applications open up faster and heavy video editing work will also process a lot faster (it will be obvious to video editing because the file size and the power needed for it is enormous) and therefore the speed increase is more noticeable. It all depends on you though, if you think you need the best of the best, go for 2.7/16/758 but if you just fancy the screen and want a quality computer, i'd say the base model is more than enough for the average user. To be honest, I wonder whether Apple will include a Discrete GPU for 13" RMBP? Doesn't matter if it's 512MB or 1GB...
Because if Apple is not going to put one in it, I don't see the reason for 13" RMBP at all, since there's already 13" Macbook Air on the shelf.

Theoritically if 13" have Retina resolution, it should be 2560x1600, as double of 1280x800 in cMBP 13". Intergrated GPU should have no problem driving it, as cMBP 13” is able to drive Thunderbolt 27" Apple Cinema Display who has the same resolution already.

Whoever did not catch up with the news, there is indeed a new MBP code name Macbookpro10.2 already in benchmark test result, and it has a similar name to rMBP 15" Macbookpro10.1. With lower benchmark value, and same processor spotted as the cMBP 13", there's no doubt anymore Apple is coming out something like rMBP 13".



The problem is, why need rMBP 13" when there is already MBA 13" on shelf?

Already saw this news weeks back. I'm kinda interested to get 1 and use it as portable high speed SSD drive.

Just a few MV projects(total about 100+ 1080p footage videos) for compositing and editing, plus a few events photographs to post-process, my rmbp only left 100GB+ disk space from 768GB. I really need more portable high speed space for my upcoming works as I always move around Singapore-Taiwan-Malaysia

using razer orochi on both my iMac and mbp, one matte one chrome. magic mouse that came with the iMac sits in the drawer.

if you find defects before you leave the store, they will replace it on the spot.
if you've left the store and later noticed defect, this depends on the reseller if they want to replace it or claim warranty.
if you purchase from Apple Online Store, theres a 14 Days exchange policy.
regarding the usb slot burnt reported by the forumer, it has nothing to do with reseller.
its actually the service provider that caused the problem, and also that unit has already exceeded the exchange period so it has to be send it for warranty claim
