Under proton edar...Receipt said my BLM SE will "expire" in 4 months. The service advisor said just 3 years warranty for all (even the shock absorbers are covered). I remember it was 5 years for engine, gearbox.

Recently just service 20k - total RM440++ (ATF, coolant, spark plugs etc) , yes very low mileage took nearly 3 years, sticking to 5k km/3 months OCI as advised by an authorised dealer SC.

Suddenly eveyone go missing again.

I dun think Proton offers 5 year warranty for their cars before Preve. Your extra 2 years might be under EWP which is covered by your insurance company, not Proton.

IINM, before this, 5 years warranty only offered by Proton EON dealers in collaboration with insurance company.

Here is a little story of what happened when I was away after dinner.

Just now when I was testing my "brand new" hai flow drop in filter(thanks to dares). After Damansara Perdana, approaching PJTC curving to the right heading LDP toll plaza, I down shift & did a double de-clutch to keep my RPM hai before I taking the right corner. Clean suction sound, hai RPM, everything seems to be just nice & I was enjoying the powerful induction sound and pulling myself apart on the stock suspensions. Whilst the speed climbs and ready to shift up, I engaged 4 gear, declutch & full throttle. Suddenly the car loss power, RPM climbs until rev cut. I try to release to neutral and reengage, same thing as if the gear box is not there. My heart had broken in to zillion pieces, I thought I broke the gear box cry.gif

I had no choice but to stop at the road side and wait for assistance. I called up magician and he adviced to give it few minutes to cool down and try again. Normally gearbox doesn't just knock out like that. So I rested the car for about 15 minutes, start my engine and WOW! The gear box came alive! But then, happiness doesn't last long as I engaged 2nd gear, the clutch slip became obvious. I had to shift to 3rd gear and drive below 40kmh to maintain momentum. RPM is farkin up and down inconsistently even-though I'm driving at the same speed.

Finally reach one of my friend's workshop(not the best) quite nearby, immediately we hook the car up dismantle the gearbox to see wtf is going on.

Look carefully, can you see where is the clutch pad?! Or you only see steel sheets hanging there?!

user posted image

The other side of the clutch, still have very thin layer of clutch pad running on my flywheel, until I double de-clutched it and finally the thin layer of clutch pad couldn't take it anymore and snapped!

Ladies & gentlemen, this is what I call a "clutch eruption" or 爆極力子. You may do maintenance on the car. You may service your brakes, change your brake fluid, engine oil, radiator coolant, tires, suspension, any other thing that make your car as safe as possible... but nobody will check your clutch sweat.gif

It seems like every month there is always something happen to take my hard earned money away moneyflies.gif

David, your Falken tires is what model?

Just now saw a first gen Kancil, driven by a young lady, corner like a boss  shocking.gif  shocking.gif .

Followed me through a 90 degrees turn with impressive speed, lost her for a while when going up a slope. Then on the next S-curve I encountered traffic, and she blew pass me on the right lane  blink.gif Not a turbo kancil, BTW, still can hear the high pitch sound from her stock engine.

Tayar... hmm.gif ... don't know. Something like 229 blink.gif Sorry mate, haven't really sit down and read what is on the tyre wall. Only thing I can remember is 55 tayar will get sagat on BLM.

I have a Kancil 660 also. I can do 0-60miles in 3.8minutes, don't ask me what I mod to the car, because I'll only tell you I've changed to open pod but that's it. cool2.gif

Another interesting, but unfortunate story. Guess a replacement clutch will cost a few hundred?

What's your mileage again? If I'm not mistaken it's only about half of mine? Any chance of the previous owner trashing the clutch?

I double-declutch all my downshifts. It's a habit I picked up while learning to drive this Gaga (my first manual tranny car) because I read that it'll save wear and tear on the tranny synchronisers. But I wonder if that's at the expense of increased wear and tear on the clutch. So far my clutch's bite is still pretty strong, I don't need to rev up when starting up slopes.

No it's not my BLM, its a 2001 Plotong Fila 1.3 VDO fuel injection project car. Just trying to tell people don't take things as granted, as the clutch itself is ONE OF MANY things that TERomit to check during service, and therefore wear and tear may not made known.

Wear & tear on clutch is more severe for DD and H&T drivers indeed, but there are no proof of saving the synchronizers. I seldom do H&T nowadays as seldom keep hai RPM(unless test driving/trashing/ricing). However, I still do DD to all my cars. Reason being, I don't like to clutch the damn car during corner, I rather use engine brake as I can accelerate anytime, otherwise I'll just maintain 20in/hg throughout the whole corner.

My case of eruption is because of the harsh acceleration after clutched nod.gif If I drive smoothly, think can still last another year with the clutch disc grinding my flywheel sweat.gif So, its a good thing that it breakdown now, instead of after 1 year then found out my flywheel is scratched and need to be replaced.

Yes. The thing is damn awesome. Thank you very much. Again I oiled it up with WD40, took out the original and replaced with it. It sounded pretty good. Can't seem to save petrol, as it sounded too good, everytime I hook up with the car I'll go full throttle tongue.gif

Hi morning everyone.

Last to 2days I go to work like I usually do. But when I want to go back suddenly my steering become a bit heavy. I realise that it is difficult to turn to left compare to right. After that I go to pump station to isi angin all the tires. But the the problem still occur. I wonder what happen sad.gif

How to explain this.. Usually after turn into junction I will let my steering go straight by itself.. But now my steering become difficult to do so.. I mean after u pusing2 steering, you will let your steering to pusing2 sndri until it become straight..
