Suddenly eveyone go missing again.

I dun think Proton offers 5 year warranty for their cars before Preve. Your extra 2 years might be under EWP which is covered by your insurance company, not Proton.

Eh? I've seen old Waja and Gaga LMST with "5 Years Warranty" on the number plate holder hmm.gif

Another interesting, but unfortunate story. Guess a replacement clutch will cost a few hundred?

What's your mileage again? If I'm not mistaken it's only about half of mine? Any chance of the previous owner trashing the clutch?

I double-declutch all my downshifts. It's a habit I picked up while learning to drive this Gaga (my first manual tranny car) because I read that it'll save wear and tear on the tranny synchronisers. But I wonder if that's at the expense of increased wear and tear on the clutch. So far my clutch's bite is still pretty strong, I don't need to rev up when starting up slopes.

Added on June 16, 2012, 1:39 pmAnyway, some updates to the strut bars...

Mahihi will be taking us to the factory for installation from the USJ Esso petrol station, instead of us DIY or him installing for us. Installation is already included in the price.

Also, here's a more more complete picture of the front strut bar

As you see, the additional 2-points are fixed to the fenders, not the firewall. I couldn't find any FSB for BLM Saga that are tied to the firewall, so I guess it is still a step up from a 2-point FSB (and still cheaper than UR  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif ).
*
Actually it seems like a 6 point bar, because there are two points on the strut tower and one point on the fender for each side icon_idea.gif

Hope the brake fluid reservoir cap doesn't get in the way though hmm.gif

I can't wait rclxm9.gif

i duno why u people asyik say fender fender fender. fender is the piece of metal outside the frame. the other 2 points is screwed at the frame of the chasis which is also the same screw to fix the fenders. so the point is at the CHASIS, not FENDERS.

ada faham korang ni?
*
So I guess this 3Max FSB must be really good, cos it doesn't just hold the struts together but ties them to the chassis thumbup.gif

The strut bar makes the car more stable during cornering? Then what's the difference for 3 point and 4 point?

And btw guys, dark blue got solid and metallic version? I saw solid dark blue in the showroom but no metallic but saw some metallic one online. So just to clarify. Thanks.
*
I thought the only solid colour is white, all the rest are metallic? hmm.gif

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jun 18 2012, 12:00 AM)
Some said strut bar make your car total loss. If the side impact happened to be able to transfer load to the other side of the strut via a strut bar, that accident itself did total loss your car, be it with or without a strut bar. Without the strut bar on the same accident, the same amount of force will transfer to your a-pillar, directly pull your roof down, and your car still total loss(and you could die because of that). With the strut bar, there is a greater chance you survive, as part of the impact force got transferred to the otherside of the strut tower, and ofcourse the car STILL total loss.
*
I agree.

Thanks for the fix. The comparison was for the guy earlier who was looking at Mudah ads for a secondhand model. I'm not sure if the taxi 1.6 is the IAFM version. It probably is.

I'm pretty surprised the tork for the 1.3 IAFM is pretty flat between 2,000 and 3,000 RPM. So I guess if you want moar pulling power, forget about 3k and tekan sampai 4k RPM whistling.gif

You mean coolkwc? I think he also understood that it is tied to the chassis, but he meant that that part of the chassis is part of the crumple zone and migt not be as stiff as the firewall hmm.gif

I am not sure if that area is part of the designated crumple zone, so I cant say whether he is correct.
*
I'm no structural engineer, but looking at the pic Unker Dave posted, the point where the strut attaches to the chassis is pretty close to the firewall, so even if it's part of the crumple zone it's probably rigid enough to be the mounting point. Maybe when we visit the 3Max factory for installation we can see if the designer of the FSB for Gaga is available then we ask him icon_idea.gif

Though I did remember that for the first Satria models the 1.3 chassis wasn't as strong as the 1.8 GTi's? I think that is one of the exceptions. Let me see if I can dig up stuff on it.

tat is different. if im not wrong, satria was derived from wira, and wira was derived from lancer. so make sense if that body can sustain 1.8 coz it was lancer at the start, just hatch-backed.
*
Eh the Satria was from the 5th gen Mitsubishi Colt but it's probably very similar to the Lancer which the Wira was based on. I'm not really familiar with the older Potong models.

PS look at the current Colt, really looks like a mini Lancer from the front laugh.gif

QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ Jun 18 2012, 02:03 AM)
IINM, the Satria GTi had chassis enhancements. Therefore a stronger chassis compared to the other Satrias. It was, afterall, meant to be an enthusiast car.

That's what the above link says.

Okay, just filled up. Here's the trip summary for those who were following:

- Filled up full tank at Tapah last Wednesday, on the 13th

- Naik Cameron Highlands via Tapah road. My first time driving on the road but I did overtake slower vehicles on the way up. First bar dropped at 70 km.

- Turun via Simpang Pulai road, used PLUS for a short distance to Ipoh

- Did some driving around Ipoh. Moderate start-stop traffic.

- Drove on to Penang via PLUS. Highway was clear, cruised at 110 km/h

- Drove around Penang, about 30 km. Slight jam at Weld Quay.

- Car was not used from last Thursday till this afternoon. I did about 50 km on the Island just now.

Total distance is 415 km, on 30.140 litres, giving 7.3L/100km or 13.8 km/L.

PS I think my tyre pressures are 34 PSI front, 32 PSI rear.

QUOTE(gogoman86 @ Jun 18 2012, 05:06 PM)
Look at this, drove til 102 KM but still never drop one bar...
Done that before too, a long time ago. I think it was like 109 km or something. But seems like Coolkwc's Gaga is in even better shape than mine, I don't think I can' touch 140 km for the first bar rclxms.gif Or maybe his fuel level float is very biased towards the first few bars tongue.gif

QUOTE(huzaifa136 @ Jun 18 2012, 05:23 PM)
highway/long journey mar.. btw 100+ achievable for speed lower than 100kmh
interestingly i achieved that went drove from kb to kl via trunk road
which demand slower speed than that on highway
*
In my experience the most efficient speed on my Gaga is 80-90 km/h. Any faster and the air resistance saps more energy than necessary.

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jun 18 2012, 06:19 PM)
My BLM always 50km/bar, be it haiway or town driving blink.gif right foot ady super light coz menten above 10in/hg vacuum blink.gif it will be great if can get Luke to drive my car and finish my tank of petrol to see whether its car problem or driver problem  I've tried every possible way, still FC stands at 10-11km/l  kinda numb ady after 3 months suffer
*
So you think my right foot is god-like laugh.gif notworthy.gif

I think you've tried very hard already, so something must be wrong with your Gaga, I don't know. Maybe the first owner did not break it in properly unsure.gif

Anyways, read this to see what the Gaga is capable of brows.gif

I think there's nothing wrong with his right foot or driving style. It's the car. There's quite a bit of difference between his Gaga BLM and Iswaga's consumption on Fuelly, if you notice.
QUOTE
that's why one must get to the highest gear as fast as possible and as condition allows

Generally, that is the rule I practice, but make sure you have enough torque to climb uphill or accelerate to merge with traffic. With the low ratio Aichi Kikai gearbox though, the car is pretty forgiving if a high gear is incorrectly selected.
QUOTE
i've nvr driven manual blm so nvr knew optimum shift point
but if i ever drive a manual, it'll be based on the engine sound  hmm.gif

question is does our sense correct? if wrong then that's the problem of high fc
*
For maximum fuel economy I shift according to the meters, not by feel. I can drive by feel too, but your senses are subjective and could be inaccurate. The meters never lie, unless they've malfunctioned. But you do need a good senses too, for example when to coast downhill (in gear, of course), when to coast so that you'll stop ngam ngam right behind the car in front with minimal brake application at a traffic queue.

And of course, if you drive a manual car with really good NVH, you can't really feel the car so you gotta refer back to your meters icon_idea.gif
