MR_alien, hi how’s the traffic in da nang? Recommend to ride motor or tour better ? Ba Na hill do you have enough time to explore by bus schedule 9am to 3pm? Hoi An half day enough ? 4pm to 8pm ? Sorry too much question.
*
traffic in danang is ok compared to say HCM
but not recommended to ride motor
most tourist there ride bicycle only(at the island side), in the city side everything is walking distance
from the city side to airport...u can literally walk..can see from google maps

the ba na hills, the best and cheapest way is to get the one at klook
bus + entrance ticket + lunch...it's the cheapest already because if u use private car, its so expensive and it's only 1 way
if u get the bus+entrance ticket+lunch bundle, the bus only cost like RM30...the entrance ticket and lunch is full price
the only downside is there is a limited time...you're only there until 3.30PM-4PM before heading back

hoi an not recommended half day, the time it take for u to reach there already take some of your time
and hoi an only comes alive at night(lantern city)
4-8PM?(after 8PM i don't think any car is gonna drive u back)

QUOTE(carloschak @ Jan 7 2019, 03:51 PM)
depends on which tailor im going for. some tailor requires 2-3 fittings (higher end ones) according to youtube reviews. fastest 24 hours i guess and that doesn't include collection lagi. so i might have to ask them to courier it to my danang's airbnb location.

My current itinerary is like this :

4D3N (Hoi An & Danang + Ba Na Hill Golden Bridge)

Day 1
- Reach DAD at 3.15pm, ding dong ding dong reach Hoi An i think also 5pm already.
- Check in airbnb then straight go suit-shopping and spend the night around the night market.

Day 2
- Cycle around the area (An Bang Beach + Ancient Town)
- Makan makan according to your recommendations in your previous posts while go for hopefully just once or twice fittings for my suit.
- Will pre-book one private transfer from Hoi An back to Danang that night once my suits are done or ready to be shipped.

Day 3 (Saturday)
- Whole day Ba Na Hill reach Danang i think also dinner time
- Watch fire-breathing Dragon bridge
- What else to do here ?

Day 4
- Breakfast then depart to DAD (flight at 12.20pm)
- Anything i can squeeze here as well ?
*
day 1, i think your problem is reaching danang too late, reach hoi an already night time
when u go do your suit, u can ask them how long it will take for it to complete
they will usually ask when are u leaving and do the arrangement from there
and which tailor are u planning to go actually?
it's always better to have an aim and not walking randomly asking price 1st

when i was going to custom made my shoe, i did my research and i decide i was going to only go 09 shoe shop and make it since it's recommended anyway, price also suit my budget
if u don't have any specific shop yet, i suggest the shop next to 09 shoe shop...same boss...i see tons of tourist make their suit/shirt/pants there...big shop

did u found an airbnb in hoi an that is cheaper than hotel?
because based on my multiple stay in vietnam, i always choose hotel because it's dirt cheap

day 3 go to the banh mi stall i mentioned and if you're keen to buy stuff, walk to big C

Until 330 to 4pm in Ba Na hills will it be enough ? Or need spend more time in hill and take grab back instead? I have already bought ticket only and booked hotel in da nang.
Hoi An maybe can go by bus which cost 25k and back by grab at later time?
*
as i'm cheap, i will always went for the bundle(bus)
but i found out it's enough time..we stopped at the mid station for 1 hour(where the golden bridge is(the hand))
thn we went up(i went up myself 1st), they went lunch 1st
my style, i go 1 round 1st....after finish 1 round, it's around 12.30-1PM...i went for lunch(less ppl since they left)
thn after lunch, we went for another round and finish it off with beer at the beer plaza(free with voucher)

when up there, i suggest u go for the proper restaurant that serve buffet(a few shop there) not eat their street food(it's f'kin expensive)
or just buy the entrance tix+lunch bundle...the buffet is like RM10 laugh.gif

so yes, it's enough time

for the hoi an one...u have no choice but to use private car or taxi to go back danang because most ppl will head hue from hoi an

Hi @MR_alien

How bout bana hills? Is it worth staying up there?

Will be there for 8 days 7 nights.

Atm thinking of hoi an and hue as i will be renting a bike thus trip to da nang only day trips.
*
stay in bana hill worth or not depends on u, it's basically another version of genting highland but no casino and alot less crowd because of it
riding bike in vietnam is not the same as riding in malaysia, bike there outnumber car
if u can ride in taiwan thn u can ride in vietnam
but i definitely recommend riding a bike for the hai van pass thumbup.gif

Hi I plan to visit bana hill around 10am, is that very crowd that time?
What is the time for last cable car(Downhill)
Is that ok if I ask grab car driver to bring me purchase bana hill ticket?
*
no such time is not crowded, there will always be tourist bus arriving, just go as early as u can so u can enjoy it to the fullest

taking grab/private car there is a waste of money, it's abt 1 hour away from danang

off topic a bit. the shoes they make good? got pic? nice to wear?
*
it's the normal leather shoes u guy bought and wear from those branded shop
just that the shoe made here will have no brand, no box
design wise, there is a lot of example shoes in the shop...point which design u want and nego price
or show them a picture of anything u want them to make
give them time to adjust if whichever part does not feel comfortable
quality is good and price is cheaper than those shop

foreigner will think it's super cheap because it's super expensive back in their country

bun thit nuong differs from district to district
it's not gonna be the same for all especially HCM vs danang
if it's not bun thit nuong thn it's cao lau
but mind u, cao lau does not fit anyone's taste especially for us heavy tasted malaysians laugh.gif

I'm thinking to travel to Danang and Hoi An end of this month. Saw that the temperature is 36-37c. Does it feel very much hotter than Malaysia?

Still contemplating either Danang or Krabi which is slightly less hot
*
both are equally hot as they're almost at the same place

QUOTE(senscents @ Aug 29 2019, 03:53 AM)
Appereciate your input.. THANKS

These are my itinerary to Danang with 5persons including an old lady

From Danang's Airport > Hoi an > Danang > Hue > Danang
1st Day evening – Hoi An
2nd Day – Hoi An
3rd Day – Hoi An > Da nang
4th Day – Da nang > Hue
5th Day – Hue > Danang
6th Day - Danang (Bana Hill whole day)
7th Day - Back

Itinerary not really confirm yet, as need more research on the places of attraction and time needed for each places of visit, accommodations, driver and others.

Need advise is it too hectic?
How much time do i need to spend on each province/city?

Any recommendation of driver? Hopefully he can communicate on the place of our visits. Can we use Google translate with the driver?
*
why come back in the 3rd day to danang when u can go straight to hue via the hai van pass
thn came back to danang on the remaining of your days and settled there...no need to move luggage again

u actually only need 1-2 days of driver only

for danang airport to hoi an, u can go to klook...there is a shuttle van there that can take u guys where u want to stay in hoi an
it's counted as per pax though or u can book a whole van there

travelling around hoi an, u don't need any car at all assuming u stayed within the city
it's all within walking distance

thn for the hoi an to hue trip via the legendary hai van pass, this part you'll need a driver

travelling around hoi an will need a half day van if u guys want to visit the tombs and pagoda and the imperial city

hue to danang, u can either charter a van or use bus...they use the tunnel to bypass the hai van pass, nothing interesting to see anyway

Thanks for the input.
Don't actually know how's the stay at Hoi an. Thinking of leaving Hoian after lunch then we can visit some area of interest like - Non Nuoc Stone carving & Pagoda, Marble Mountains on the way towards Danang. By the time we are finish it will be late in the evening. So we need to stay at Danang before going up north to Hue.

All this are not confirm yet, as is still in planning stages, that why need more input from season travellers like you.
*
mine is leave hoi an @ 8AM
by the time u reach hue, it would be like 4PM already

u can contact travel agencies for their hoi and to hue private charter
their itinerary are all the same except for their price only
they all swing by the same place which is marble moutain for instance all the way till the hai van pass thn till hue(your hotel)
hue to hoi an will pass by danang actually....hoi an to danang is like an hour away only if i remember

the company i used previously is http://www.transfertohoian.com/
55USD/car

That why we plan to stop for a day at Danang from hoi an then proceed to Hue the next day. As from Danang will take app. 2.5-3 hrs to Hue with the stop by/ slow drive at Hai Van pass for the scenic view.
The charges of 55Usd/car from Hoi an to Hue, inclusive the journey back? Is it a mini van which can seat app 6persons?
*
i still recommend directly go hue to minimize moving luggage

the 55USD/car is for 4 people per car, i initially ordered a sedan
but they came with a toyota fortuner laugh.gif ...way out of my expectation
and it's only 1 way from hoi an to hue
u can try request a van from there, see what they quote u, this agency offered me the best price among all that i've searched

QUOTE(senscents @ Aug 30 2019, 07:54 PM)
For the entrance fee, do they limit the days of visit?
All the hotel that your are staying, did you book online or on that day itself?
From the photo on the online portal looks very new, brightly litted and comfortable. Appreciate your frank opinion on  the hotel. 😁🙏
*
i don't remember the appearance of the ticket already, don't remember if it did mention the date or not
but u MUST have the ticket though because they will conduct spot check from time to time to make sure all the people in there have a valid ticket
because there are multiple entry point and exits
so people can easily go in via a different entry/exit
but if being caught without ticket sure is embarrasing

for my hotel, i booked it online..i always booked by hotel online to guarantee availability
the hotel i stayed in is enough for stay, not luxury as it is not a 4-5 star hotel
those 5 star hotel won't located within the city, they'll be located outside of the city and require transport(for me is troublesome)
when i go is during low season, so not much people stay...so bfast also not much choices

QUOTE(senscents @ Aug 30 2019, 08:22 PM)
Just got to know a local tour agency thru a friend, will ask about the pricing on transportation and tour around Hue, Hoi An and Danang.

Still appreciate your knowledge on the places.

Not much people interested on this vacation in Danang, as not much feed back from others.
It's quite happening there for a few years already.
*
i notice danang has not much interest is because people thought going danang is only going danang
and there is pretty much nothing in danang
people(who didn't do research prior) wouldn't know going danang have to include hoi an and hue(which are the interesting places)
so that's why not much people are interested in going danang
at least that's from my experience recently

and yes, i saw someone say he went danang for 7 days and he say it's super boring
i ask where did he went...he said he stayed the whole week in danang doh.gif

Thanks

QUOTE(strawsticks @ Oct 14 2019, 11:54 PM)
Hi all, will be travelling to Da Nang/Hue/Hoi An next year. Have sketched out the following itinerary, appreciate your comments/feedbacks smile.gif

Day 1: Da Nang
(PM) Arrive in Da Nang, check in hotel and have a stroll along My Khe beach

Day 2: Ba Na Hills
Day trip to Ba Na Hills

Day 3: Da Nang
(AM) Linh Ung Pagoda, Marble Mountains
(PM) Han market/Con market/Big C hypermarket for shopping
(PM) Check out the dragon bridge

Day 4: Hue
(AM) Journey to Hue, check in hotel and leave baggage
(PM) Afternoon tour to the 3 famous tombs and Thien Mu Pagoda

Day 5: Hue
(AM) Dong Ba market and Imperial City
(PM) Check out of hotel and head to Hoi An

Day 6: Hoi An
(AM) An Bang beach
(PM) Explore the ancient town

Day 7: Hoi An
(AM) My Son ruins tour
(PM) Head to Danang

Day 8: Da Nang
Free & easy, last minute shopping

Day 9: Kuala Lumpur
End of the trip

I would really be grateful if anyone could share me contacts of drivers or otherwise tips on how to get around. Particularly need help with these:

1. Ba Na Hills - Day tour contact or private driver contact
2. Hue half day tour contact, covering 3 tombs+Pagoda
3. Transport from Hue to Hoi An - Private driver contact or tips on how to get there
4. My Son ruins - Day tour contact or private driver contact
Thanks so much in advance everybody! smile.gif
*
why not go hoi an straight after u land?
thn go hue next and pass through the legendary hai van pass
thn back to danang for the rest of the days?
u don't need private driver for ba na hills, why not just buy the ones at klook?
the only disadvantage is u only have until 4PM before u left....engaging private driver to bana hills is not cheap based on what i research(alot more expensive)

Need to be at Hoi An on Day 6 coz that is the full moon day. Will I pass through Hai Van on the Hue-Hoi An route? Or the Da Nang-Hue route?

Alternatively, perhaps I can rearrange my schedule so that Day 1-5 Da Nang; Day 5-7 Hoi An; Day 7-8 Hue, Day 8-9 Da Nang.

I did consider just buying the Ba Na hills package since it could work out to be cheaper, since includes transport+tickets+lunch. But I don't like the idea of needing to follow tour guide's schedule and timing and all.

How did you travel from Da Nang to Hoi An?
*
hue to anywhere is considered "back" already, most people/driver will just use the tunnel for this route unless u use private driver and specify them to use hai van pass
not sure if it's as exciting since it's going backward
danang to hue thn will use that route

actually use the tour and private driver not much difference actually
the only difference is timing(by few hours), if u plan to stay until night thn u have to use private driver which is alot more expensive
because using tour, u have until 4PM only
and there is no schedule, they bring u until the middle section which is the buddha's hand...after that u can opt to roam bana hills by yourself if u don't wanna follow your guide(his schedule)
just be back at the meeting point at 4PM only laugh.gif

Okok. So means I can still visit the Hai Van pass on the Da Nang-Hue route! That's a relief.

Yea for the Ba Na hill, I will consider taking the tour since the difference is just a few hours then  hmm.gif May I know how you got to/from Hue? Did you hire a private driver?
*
yes, i hire private driver to take me from hoi an to hue
he will stop at a few places along the way
it's recommended to ride a bike for the full experience(if u know how)
i don't...that's why i opt for driver instead
