To give you some perspective, the young Brazilian team beat USA 4-1.
Prior to that the USA team thrashed Scotland 5-1. The young Brazilian team are not ikan bilis. Pele, Eusebio(the Black panther), George Weah and R7 all have superior athletic ability to hone their football skills. Without superior pace or athletic abilities I would suggest that they might not be able to outperform or flash by the opponents. To wit R7 being contained by a faster, superior athlete in Boateng. On the other hand its the sheer magic and football mastery & sublime skills of players like Maradona & Messi that make believers of us that size or 'pace' don't count. That's why the immortal Maradona (voted the best by the world fans not FIFA cronies) is a legend. Likewise Michael Jordan (and not other basketball players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar that have superior height advantage and better athletic abilities etc. ) is a basketball legend & the BEST. i think every one has their own opinion on who's the best player currently. messi is good, but not great. do you see he fare well in international stage?? nope. and moreover he's only playing in la liga, he never play in other league, a good player will have no problem adapting different gameplay in different country. do you see messi did that? nope. and do i remind you he did struggle to play against a defensive chelsea side in the champions league, what will happen if he plays in the italian league where it is famous of their rigid defence system? once again sorry if i hurt you messi fanboy but best player in my book will be falcao and aguero, because they have showed they have the ability to adapt in different country different league gameplay. maradona is the best because he play in 2 different continent (argentina and italia league), until messi can proves me wrong otherwise, he is not the best in my books.

If Maradona had played in the English League he would have been hacked and chopped up to bits, by the likes of Stoke Plodders who valued grit & determination.
But does that negate Maradona as the BEST? What's important is that Messi has proven that he can perform outside of la liga i.e. at the Champion League Stage against Elite teams (Serie A , PL et al) and on their own turfs too and on the international scene (far better than R7). How can one say that he has not performed well at all outside of la liga? The international individual awards (especially FIFA junior titles) and records he broke attest to that. Individual titles FIFA Ballon d'Or: 2 2010, 2011 Ballon d'Or: 1 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year: 1 2009 World Soccer Player of the Year: 2 2009, 2011 World Soccer Young Player of the Year: 3 2006, 2007, 2008 ESM Team of the Year: 5 2005–06, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11 European Golden Shoe: 2 2010, 2012 La Liga top goalscorer: 2 2010, 2012 Copa del Rey top goalscorer: 1 2011 La Liga Player of the Year: 3 2009, 2010, 2011 LFP Best Player: 3 2009, 2010, 2011 LFP Best Forward: 3 2009, 2010, 2011 La Liga Foreign Player of the Year: 3 2007, 2009, 2010 La Liga Ibero-American Player of the Year: 5 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 UEFA Champions League top goalscorer: 4 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award: 1 2011 UEFA Club Footballer of the Year: 1 2009 UEFA Champions League Forward of the Year: 1 2009 UEFA Champions League Final Man of the Match: 1 2011 UEFA Team of the Year: 4 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Onze d'Or: 3 2009, 2010, 2011 Bravo Award: 1 2007 Tuttosport Golden Boy: 1 2005 FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball: 2 2009, 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup Player of the Tournament: 1 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup top goalscorer: 1 2005 Copa América Young Player of the Tournament: 1 2007 FIFPro World Young Player of the Year: 3 2006, 2007, 2008 FIFA/FIFPro World XI: 5 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Sportsperson of the Year of Argentina: 1 2011 Footballer of the Year of Argentina: 6 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Male Best Athlete in Latin America: 1 2011 Marca Leyenda: 1 2009 L'Équipe Champion of Champions: 1 2011 World's Top Goal Scorer of the Year: 1 2011 -------------------- Individual Records Most goals scored in a season in all competitions: 73 goals Most goals scored in a single league season: 50 goals Most goals scored in a single UEFA Champions League season: 14 goals Most La Liga hat-tricks in a season: 8 hat-tricks Most UEFA Champions League hat-tricks: 3 hat-tricks Only player to score 2 hat-trick in a Champions League season Highest scorer in a single UEFA Champions League game: 5 goals Most UEFA Champions League top scorer award: 4 awards The only player to receive the UEFA Champions League top scorer award 4 years in a row Most La Liga home goals in a season: 35 goals Most consecutive league matches scored in: 10 matches Youngest player to score 150 league goals: 24 years and 270 days Most goals scored in the Supercopa de España: 8 goals Most goals scored in FIFA Club World Cup: 4 goals Fastest Barcelona hat-trick: completed in 17th minutes Barcelona Record Goalscorer: 253 goals Barcelona Record Goalscorer in UEFA Champions League: 51 goals Barcelona Record Goalscorer in European Competitions: 52 goals Barcelona Record Goalscorer in international Competitions: 56 goals How can one say then that he has not performed well at all outside of la liga? When all the WC titles are given for his performances outside of the la liga. |

depends on what you mean by the best...
is it the BEST at WHAT HE DOES ? or THE JACK OF ALL TRADES? if it is the former than Messi already fit the bill for me... but to be the latter, he must come here and prove himself against the likes of Kelantan and LionsXII first...... |

If he plays for a different club, can he replicate his successes?
Hypothetical question since it is quite impossible to see him leave Barcelona. |
