NFS Most Wanted (Criterion): .................. will play, or not? It looks just like older game with not much of any new features... And that stupid crash-cam again, hope they don't forget to include that option for PC -.-

Yeah some old stuff like AutoSculpt is greatly missed. The lack of new innovation is kinda, feels bad. No I don't mean rocket launcher or laser gun... NFS don't need those. There are still quite a lot of things to improves such as crashing/destructive event (I hate crash cam, give me REAL impact on REAL time please). MUCH better audio, MUCH better visual, MUCH better visualization (example like on free-roam, I drive into a whatever shop, walk out of the car, I interact with the boss, tell him what I want... then they fit those parts in real time... In the mean time I stole their cash, or look on the computer searching for races, bounty, etc...) The game engine surely able to pull it off, all depend on who utilizing it =/

Isn't this is the era of "improve player's experience by keep them in the game, reduce UI dependency..." wink.gif I don't want to go through tons of menus... I want to experience things in real time...

"It is a game about you and your friend."

End. You'll never beat people with skill better than you / have more time to play than you, end.

Not much of exciting semi-arcade-ish-free-form-midnight-street-drifting-with-those-beloved-tuners these day huh... (k that's a quite messy long word). Everyone just bam bam bam, bam bam bam, cha-ka-cha-ka, bam, bam, bam... Overloaded FPS, MMO, DotA clone and RPG alike.

I really just, want to sit back after work, grab my gamepad, hit on the net with friends and get some races on with the most spectacular visual and audio, especially drift~~~ sigh.

Imagine if...

NFS World + 50% of Shift 2's physic + Frostbite engine + a few next gen tweaks + antiiiii-hackerrrrr + better net code + more racing modes + not operate by EA but someone else + ....

K, a messy post. Sorry. But sad is sad, said it, good night.

Yes, new version by a totally different developer team (Criterion instead of original Black Box).

I miss those time where I adjust those stickers/vinyls pixel by pixel to perfection... I can stay in the garage whole day! Then drive to *THE BRIDGE* and show off (ended up mostly pwned in drag...). That's what people wanted- tuning!

So I tried it on my friend's rig and....

1, utterly... sigh... controls. No way I can drive accurately with that.
2, this extreme arcadish physic... So I driving 200kmh, pull e-brake, powerslide, and stop in 5 meters. Awesome physics -.- I'm not asking for realism but this is way too much unrealistic.
3, just now try out cop chase, so I got struck by those nails. And start to think: "where the heck are those pursuit breakers??"...

It runs pretty damn good on a mid range GTX560 though, fullHD max setting with just minimal lag.

^hmm that sounds bad.. gotta try it myself to believe lol. anyway does the game support anti-aliasing and whats the max AA option?
*
As far as I remember I don't see AA option last night in that very short try out.
Got time I go play in my friend's house again. Sure, last night's try out maybe too short to justify the game... So, give it a very slim chance, have time I try again.
But what I will expect are:

- again, where is the pursuit breaker? Bus stops? Phone booths?
- hot girls drool.gif and handsome gangsters?

I bet they got scolded by MaggieQ after mediocre game quality in NFS Undercover *cough* *cough*... The only game with real life performance after that was only Shift2 if I'm not mistaken by Monster team drivers.

However, i see the price is bit steep compared to the old NFS games. It used to be RM120 or RM130. Now, it's RM160. Must be EA new price scheme. Everything is jacked up.
*
I still remember back in the day I preorder NFS ProStreet for only RM79 from TBS wink.gif
Sigh looking at standard games nowadays cost almost 3 times higher...

+ enjoy it greatly on my sister's super ancient AMD Phenom & ATI 9550... sweat.gif

Trying to get used to the control.... and trying not to crash ._. That few seconds of cutscene is god forbidden, and no way to disable?!

If this game have a different name, maybe NFSHP4 or something else, then it maybe OK and can get better scores. But the insulting thing here, is it bares the name "MOST WANTED" and do not feature any memorable elements present in the original title...

Well, I voiced my opinion. People agree or not doesn't matter to me.

There is a little customisation as I see, I watched a bit of review about it too.

basically (if you on gamepad), press D-pad [>] to access the ... forgot what name menu that allow you to select race, change car and fit on performance parts you have unlocked on the fly.

The idea of fly though a gas station for repair & randomized car colour sounds OK though.

Let see how can stamp back what been censored by EA... hmm.gif

Rave reviews.

"Criterion has done the impossible – they've taken what is, arguably, the best race-and-chase game made for this generation and somehow made it so much betterworst." - Gaming Trend

"Criterion has done it again, setting a new standard for arcade-style racing games which the graphics won't be surpassed until the next generation of consoles has been on sale for a while." - Guardian

"After the Hot Persuit remake lifted the Need for Speed franchise to new heights, Criterion does it again with Most Wanted. The emphasis on dull-city free-roaming, social interaction and over-the-top-cutscene action with impressive cars make the new Most Wanted a very refreshing but unoriginal racing game." - Gamer.nl

"It's the racing game only for people who don't tend to like racing games." - IGN

A single mixed review after 25 reviews = an impressive feat. Criterion deserves all the praise... though I must admit I was skeptical with the game being so similar to Burnout.

the graphic in this game looks very nice...
but still didnt decide want to buy it or not...
afraid it will become like my Hot Pursuit and The Run...
didnt even finish the game and feels like wanna sell em but cant...
*
If this vs that buggy TheRun... I'll still pick TheRun.
If this game called some other name vs that buggy TheRun... Maybe I'll have a hard time choosing. But i think I'll still choose TheRun, because it's BlackBox's last NFS, and not having so much annoying info on the screen. I tried to reinstall The Run lately but the damn origin just never going to recognise my DVD and keep download from the net mad.gif Damn useless piece of junk DRM software.

The game works like this:
- you given a full open world right at the start, no unlocking required, so we're immediately put into a huge maze without any explanation or tour around the city regions, not rusa masuk kampung, but rusa masuk metropolis year 3999.
- you given all cars, just need to find them placed all over the map, you don't buy them, you don't spent any cash whatsoever
- 1 car have 6 specific races (or something that amount), play all races, then can unlock to race next blacklist car (NOT blacklist driver), rinse and repeat with different car
- no storyline
- can't disable crash cam abuse
- and so on so on

About the city tour thing, you really need to praise on how BlackBox did it for the first few open world NFS, giving you progression to unlock regions so you have time to learn those streets. I can remember NFSU2, NFSMW streets very very well (maybe also because they were smaller cities, thus easier to learn), NFSC a little confusing for me, NFSUC just... utterly confusing. Now NFSMW2, I have no idea where the heck I am going at all or even where the heck I am. Maybe just I getting old, memory fade so bad.

^ it's a direct console port... So, understandable why keyboard not so good in it.

Seriously if this is a PC exclusive game, visual could be 10x better, much much much MUCH more visual details, better definition audio, etc. This game ran too smooth on a cheap mid range card, the graphic engine/level not pushing at all.

Maybe due to forced-AA in graphic driver? A lot of games nowadays have visual courupt problem whenever you enabled AA in driver... (but I doubt this will happens on Frostbite2?)

Taste is something so subjective. When things going really fast, there will be flaws covered with motion and speed.

Well if you feels good about it, then good for you. No need to argue to the rock bottom.

But one thing for sure - former long time NFS players are hard to be pleased with that Criterion did.
