Just got update from the vendor, they said the Win8 reaching end of this month and the RSP for Y580 will be the same for the W7HB model... Quite ok considering it is an upgrade from W7HB to W8....

just gotten y580. I have 12gb ram (8gb ram add on) but system only support 8gb ram. How to push higher

Anyone playing Dota 2 using Y580 here? Can put all the graphic setting to max?

Previously as in the thread, I think someone actually got it done with the mSATA.
For the experience that he have share, I think it is not due to bios locked.
It is more likely due to Windows OS locked.

If what I am thinking is right, the mSATA will only work when you fresh install an OS then after that the mSATA will not be visible in Windows.

But that will leads me to another question, if so, then how are we going to access the Windows partition after loading the OS? 

Any ideas guys?

The best is just backup the Win7 activation code and install a fresh+vanilla Win7.

Hm... seems that the new Y500/400 coming next week when they officially release the Win8... still donno how much i can squeeze from my wallet so might as well wait for the pricing on the Y500 and see how it goes. But now I'm still pro Y580 because i need more USB port (Cooler pad, mouse, digital speaker and maybe pendrive/ext hdd)...

Should be... since they have already include the FHD screen on the Y580, this Y500 will also have the option of either HD or FHD LED screen... The biggest question would be the PRICING, how far apart will the pricing be if compared with the Y580... 

Suggest you to try all daiko suggestion then if still cannot solve then better off sent for warranty.
Personally based on experience, highly recommend you to upgrade to an extended warranty. You won't know what is going to happen in the future.

by the way, the power adapter block from Y480/580, is it very big and bulky?
