Maybe you can try to search around the garage sales part? But if you are going for the EPP then most likely you will have to go to the in lowyat liow. Suggest you to search thoroughly in lowyat forum before blindly enter a shop, know the latest deal offer in the forum then try nego see if any shops in lowyat can offer you the same or something similar or not.

I have upgraded to 3 years warranty. The package was 3/3/3 on site-warranty. Price forgot liow... I did it on the spot at the same time I bought my Y580.

Used to have the similar experience too, just ignore it then after a few days the update will goes through. Probably just as what you said, maybe sometimes when we perform windows update some background programs maybe causing the update to failed.

Try not to install anything else beside drivers after clean format install windows then let windows update run itself for hours until everything settle down first.

Hmm... I wonder if we can perform windows update in safe mode? If can, I think installing windows stuff in safe mode should go through right?

1 to 1 exchange is only useful upon the service center or distributor have stand by stock.

Btw, my fren who also used Y580, but it appears that he is unable to get the bluetooth driver install ler. In factory setting, everything is working fine. But after format cannot get the bluetooth install.
- Have tried to reformat and install
- Have tried with multiple different driver
- Have tried to toggle the bluetooth in the wireless panel then install
- Have tried with windows update then install
Above all solution tested but still failed, any ideas and advise?

Maybe it is somewhat true, cos laptop with such a great price with awesome spec are expected to have some degree of issue. But it is still acceptable for these issues are not as severe as in overheating and stuff. All you need is to get extended warranty as insurance then you are all good and well protected for 3 years. xD

Try right-click then force it to run on Nvidia graphic card. Hope that will work.

Mine 2nd unit is all good by far.

Trackpad issue ah? No problem, go to synaptic setting and tune down the sensitivity or palm setting then you should be all good.

Got problem but cannot be solved. WTH!!

I am playing GW2.
Currently I am using 1920 resolution and most are high or ultra setting but I have turned shadow off.

I am going to try my friend's setting. Use HD resolution then everything on and full. According to him, this setting will have better FPS than my setting.

For the backlight keyboard, if I am not mistaken it will remember your last setting.

For example, last night I keep it on while using then shut down. The next day you on your computer it will be on as well.

Lol, no idea, never used the ROM before. Planning to remove the ROM and replace it with a HDD.

If I am not mistaken, you can use the disk management to make changes about the drive size. But I simply prefer to have a clean format then repartition everything during the windows installation. According to some reading, some say that the windows disk management is not that good.

USB 3.0? Simple, usually the USB 3.0 ports are blue in color compare with other ports. For the Y580 that I am having, on the left there are 2 USB 3.0 while on the right there are 1 USB 2.0 near the power cord and another USB 3.0 near the ROM.

I remember for once I came across a third-party software that can do the job that you are looking for creating new partition or merging partition. If I am not mistaken, it should be something like magic partition or magic something the name of the software.

Oh, I didn't know that Windows 7 HB can only support up to 8GB ram. Luckily I have Business Edition.
Can upgrade to 16GB ram later. Now only having 4GB ram.

Lol, Windows 8 looks great. But take times to get use to it all over again could be quite depressing.

Oh, so fast cease production liow ah.
Luckily I got extended warranty, if not after one year something went wrong then really don't know where to korek spare parts liow.
I am sure they are going to hike up the price so much once the model is no longer in production since the Y580 is a rather high end model which they cannot mass manufacture then sell it at a super cheap price.
