For my area, I waited 2 years.

My goodness, 2 years?!?!?!?? blink.gif

I applied for unifi more than half a year ago for my new house, and TM also no news yet as to when they'll be installing new ports for my area.
And what's worse is, my area also got no Streamyx as TM said they only use optic fibre for my area.
This is ridiculous, I'm staying in the city and there's no land line communication for me to use.

since, unifi doesnt seem to be updating me quick enough on availability of ports for my area, im guessing theres not much hope left. so now im resorting to streamyx 8mbps, and i was wondering if they use the same ports, or different ports or whatever can someone explain what i can expect when subscribing for streamyx?
*
I've been waiting for them to install new unifi port for the jalan of my address since May/June 2014, and still no update from them yet. sad.gif
It's frustrating to see my neighbours all using Unifi and Maxis fibre and I'm still using Yes 4G with quota limit. mad.gif

Streamyx runs on entirely different thing, they're using the copper telephone line, the normal telephone line you using for your phone. Unifi runs on optic fibre instead.
As far as I know, as long you got a working telephone line for your home, you should be able to install Streamyx.
However, whether or not you can get the 8mbps is subject to availability. They seem to limiting the number of 4mpbs and above users. That means, if there's no availability at your area, you most likely can only get 2mpbs package at most.

Help! I am also facing the same problem!! =( anyone got any alternative internet service provider??

If you're talking about land line connection, Streamyx and Unifi/Maxis fibre are pretty much the options that you have. Unless you want to consider of Time Fibre, which only cover for apartment/condo those high rise resident building.

If go for wireless, then there's Yes 4G, which is what I'm currently using, and also P1, Maxis, Celcom, Digi etc. But mind you, those are capped with data quota, like your phone's mobile data plan.
For my case, Yes will throttle the speed to 0.1Mbps once the data quota is finished.

How about maxis wireless broadband in link above

Can consider, but this is capped with data quota, so have to use wisely, and can't really do much downloading.

I am so unlucky!!! My area's unifi ports are fully used. I swear they are trolling me. I know one of my neighbours just got unifi even though i applied earlier!! Apparently I'll need to wait a few years till my neighbours leave. T.T i use the internet for work so I am super screwed. I need a decent land line and all tm can give me is a measly 4MB streamyx. Another one of my neighbour just moved but he lives one street behind me. Apparently i cannot use his port or something like that...

Any tips or help for getting unifi/fiber will be super helpful...

thank u chungdavi for replying...really appreciate any help...

I facing same situation as you, port full for the street adress of my house, the other jalan beside my house still got port available, but can't use it for my house. mad.gif
My neighbors all using Unifi/Maxis fibre and I have to use Yes 4G with capped data quota. sad.gif

4Mbps Streamyx actually isn't that bad you know, I used it before at my old house, it's quite stable. Consider you lucky still got Streamyx available, my house is at a 3-4y/o area so they don't use traditional copper phone line anymore, so no Streamyx for me. sad.gif

From what I know, there's really nothing much you can do other than waiting. Or you can go around the neighbourhood staying on same street as you and see who's on the waiting list also? TM will only install new port when there's enough demand from the area.

Good luck. I've been in the waiting list since April 2014 and still no news from TM until now.

apartment sri baiduri, ukay perdana also same...unifi no port... really frustrated... yesterday register, today they call no port... is it unifi and maxis fibre using same port? anyone can help me to check if maxis got port?
*
Is the apartment under Unifi coverage? If it is then Maxis should be using Unifi infrastructure, meaning no matter you applied for Unifi or Maxis Fibre, both also have to wait for TM to install new port.
Not entirely sure about this, so anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I am too, suffering from the same problem as you, my area under Unifi coverage, but port for my Jalan is full, been on the waiting list since April 2014. I've waited for more than a year, and when I last visited TMPoint for update last week, they told me TM has no plan on installing new port for my area yet. sad.gif

Welcome to the land of monopoly.

If there were fair competition ppl will be rushing to grab customers.... here... no hurries.. cause its a monopoly.

And I'm still waiting after 1 year and 4 months, they don't seem bother to install new ports.
Busy offering existing users 50Mbps instead. mad.gif

My area here is Taman Pelangi, JB, also no more ports.  When I went to the TM Centre, all they could advise is to install Streamyx for the time being until the next UNIFI subscriber in my area will give up their subscription.

I'd even told them that there are already 2 guaranteed customers:  my immediate neighbor and myself, because we are both on ABN and it had gone bankrupt and stopped services since 03 July 2015.  Sigh, want to give them business they also don't want.
*
Do sign up for Streamyx first while waiting for installation of new Unifi port, you'll never know how long the wait will be.

Probably 2 new subscriptions weren't enough to convince them to install new port. From what I heard, 1 port is usually distributed to 8 units, and they require at least 4 of the units subscribed before they can consider installing a new port.
Sounds terrible, does that mean as long as there's no new user subscribing for your area you'll have to keep waiting?
Looking at my neighbors all using Maxis Fibre and Unifi, and no one seems to be moving out any time soon, I seriously have no idea how long my wait is going to be. I won't feel surprised if it's gonna take me 3 or 4 years of wait.

Yup, will have to consider that as a last resort.  Presently using YES 4G huddle, but it's too expensive for downloading.  Casual email and surfing is still tolerable.
*
My advise, sign up for Streamyx 4Mbps if it's available, instead of using Yes 4G, because at least Streamyx is unlimited quota.
I'm not as lucky, my area has no traditional copper telephone line, so no Streamyx, I can only go for fibre, and the only thing I can do is wait for TM to install new Unifi port. sad.gif

I'm using Yes 4G as well, and every month I'm paying more than the price of Unifi 5Mbps, but only getting 12GB of peak data quota, which only good enough to last for 3 weeks at most. doh.gif

You can try to inquire about Umobile.  I heard their mobile broadband rate (cost/GB) is cheaper than YES 4G.
*
Hmm, just browsed through their website, I'd say they provide the most quota for a certain price among all I surveyed (Yes, Maxis, Digi, Celcom).
Unfortunately I'm still tied to my Yes 4G contracts, so I'll just stick to Yes atm.

Finally contacted by TM for Unifi installation, apparently one of my neighbours shifted out.
That's a total of 1 and a half year wait for me, considering I have no landline connection at all, not even a phone, the long wait is still quite unacceptable. shakehead.gif

Now I'm tied up with 2 Yes contracts, the earliest which I can terminate is Aug 2016, heavy commitment just for the Internet. sad.gif
