after comparison with my current Gnote, HTC one x and S3...I had to confirm..been usage of 1-2hours continously on WIFI -FB and browsing..

S3 not warm like Gnote and Worst is the HTC one X <--I can Said "HOT"

If you not gonna root your phone then you wouldn't need backup. Most ppl do backup coz sometimes shit happen during flashing. Otherwise backup not needed if you stay on stock rom. Update firmwares via FOTA or Kies won't wipe your phone.
Or if you still afraid of losing your apps then you can use MyBackup. It only save the app but not the apps data.
