That because you haven't use your phone long enough. Once you start using your phone regularly the your display (screen) will be sitting on top of the bar graph.

Take a screenshot of your total screen on time. By then you'll know whether you use your phone frequent enough when compared with your total hours.

Haven't try on S3 but on S2 once you power off then that's it. No alarm no nothing. Your phone wont kick in its auto power on by itself.
Might be different on S3 though :-)

Yes i know. Even Nokia with Symbian OS can let the alarm on while the phone power off. But not possible on Android, i think :-)

Let the phone charge with the power on while it screen off. Then your alarm will work. Or if you want more privacy then enable airplane mode.
