All new launches are purchased sight unseen, on the basis of some pictures and a Lego building. So, that's even worse than wet market. So, at the end of the day, it's all about location, amenities and facilities. That's the primary basis for the rental as well. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Exactly. I think I was trying to “please” my family and friends that my house is “perfect”, critics-proof and to a certain extent, “guaranteed” capital gain. How foolish. Obviously backfired, and reality sinks in when you are told it is no longer available.
To get the perfect house in singapore is like finding a needle in a haystack, you can never find the perfect home in SINGAPORE not when we have budget and convenience constraint. In KL, we have wider choice (landed/condo) and location.

QUOTE(r1v3r @ Aug 26 2012, 12:04 PM) You can use public transport to go many good places but you have to spend some money. If you read, some library in SG have special theme like musical, drama, comic etc. About $10 live time membership. Check out if your company have any corporates pass, use them. If you notice, SG have many good nature parks all around the island. Wonderful for people who like jogging, cycling, roller blade etc. I love the park here, safe and path are well taken care off. Even the toilets in the park are clean and has toilet paper! Might be going to jungle trek at Mac Ritche if it doesnt rain later.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(ivanswk @ Aug 29 2012, 03:35 PM) It’s finally here! The alignment and station locations for our sixth MRT line, the Thomson Line! A total of 22 stations and 30km long - wow! Thomson Line will start from Woodlands North, passing through the industrial estate of Sin Ming, down to the residential area of Thomson and shopping districts of Orchard, through the exciting developments at Marina Bay area, before ending at Gardens by the Bay! Thomson Line will come to you in 3 stages: first stretch (3 stations from Woodlands North to Woodlands South) in 2019, second stretch (six stations from Springleaf to Caldecott) in 2020, and the final stretch (13 stations from Mount Pleasant to Gardens by the Bay) in 2021. Added on August 29, 2012, 3:57 pm woodland north still far from kastam, damn... The Johor government is in talk with Singapore MRT to connect Thomson Line with RTS (Rail Transit System - Johor MRT). So finger crossed that the talk will go through. Buy property at Johor and along the Thomson Line!

QUOTE(rickysim84 @ Sep 4 2012, 10:32 AM) Well, my HR told me tat getting through wife wont serve NS, so i apply for it. For me, having PR is just so that i can bought a property here for my family. Without it, i wont mind much as i do have the planning to go aus to try out. From wat i read from other forum, my working permit might badly affect, maybe drop from EP to SP? Or in future gonna be hard to get PR. Still, before i make a big decision to renounce my PR, i just need to know whether is there anyone else with such experience could share some of their info. Never try to renounce your Singapore PR unless you are very confident that you will not work in Singapore anymore. Singapore immigration is very strict with those who rejected or renounce their PR or citizenship. I have a friend who tried to outplay the law by skipping NS, then tried to come back by saying that he has to serve the bond (He was bonded with the Singapore Gov to work in Singapore for 3 years as he enjoyed some study subsidy in Poly), but Immigration says, No Thanks. Did not grant him an EP pass despite numerous appeal. So, think twice. Btw, Aus aint easy as well. My bf's bro is now in Aussie on working pass but couldnt get a job despite a qualified engineer and has banking experience. So, go only with a confirmed job offer.

QUOTE(yhoong12 @ Sep 4 2012, 11:37 AM) Heard my friend say in Aus,even you qualified for your field, you noneed to find back some qualification job as you just get normal chef job or what so ever job but get paid like your salary in SG, it is lay back lifestyle in Aus? High salary yes but tax is higher too. I like Melbourne, relaxing lifestyle but still prefer being in Singapore due to familiarity and nearer to home (Msia).

Well.. reading the comment itself is already able to justify why companies prefer hiring non-singaporean. Singaporean are full of grudges (not all of them of course) and more demanding. Constant complain of high cost of living and low salary (or so they say), and accusing companies of short changing them etc.
They cannot blame companies for hiring foreigners as they are less demanding and willing to take up more responsibilities. Just at lunch my CFO mentioned he preferred hiring Msians as we are less calculative and able to deliver.
So, if you are sitting at the management table, would you hire a highly qualified person who are extremely calculative with workhours and job scope or a less calculative ones but degree from a second tier university?
When I conduct interview, I notice Singaporean fresh graduate are very ambitious and arrogant, they do not want to do mundane job or data entries, whereas PRs are willing to do everything, so guess who I hire?
