yes, RR V2 is incoming - it is at testing stage now. I think expected to be released by today or tomorrow. Stock ICS like the Taiwan LPF is actually quite good but i need some feature like CallRec offered in RR.

totally cannot tahan...

connected to PC and battery draining more than getting charged. now setting up my phone... ya, did a reset liao... biggrin.gif

i flashed from TW LPF stock to Msia ICS stock already got problem, so i dun see an update from GB to ICS without wipe is a good move. Should wipe all and start from scratch when upgrading to ICS from GB - just my personal thought. biggrin.gif

Hi Guys,

how to turn off 3G from been charged extra for data plan?

Please advice.
*
i found out that there is no such safeguard anymore. You CANNOT prevent your Note to connect to mobile data.

previously with HTC Froyo, once the system startup fresh from factory reset or whatever - the first time you boot up your phone, it will not connect to mobile data, instead it will let you setup wifi first and ask also whether you have a data plan. Absolutely no mobile traffic occur.

But i notice not anymore on Samsung and HTC Desire HD (on ICS custom rom). Immediately after you boot up the phone and key in your Pin number, the data connection starts!!!! If you are ignorant and go pandai pandai setup your google account, then be prepared to pay RM20-30 of data charges at the minimum before you can turn the mobile data off and switch to wifi. Kena this on my wife's Desire and my brother's Desire HD. My Note also behave the same way but i have DiGi data plan, so no issue for me. Change my wife's and brother's Maxis line immediately to the new value RM50 all-in-one data+call+sms plan. vmad.gif

of course if you want to turn on/off the mobile data, just follow the steps mentioned above by hellscream.

Help! How to do print screen on NOTE ICS? Thanks.
*
it depends very much which rom are you using. If stock ROM, hold the button of the S Pen and touch it for a while on the screen.

some incident trying to flash RR V2. Planning for a full wipe install, so i boot to recovery, then notice my CWM gone. So flash CWM, the recovery change to CWM, then tried to flash Abyss 4.2 and it indicated install from SD card complete. Restart recovery under advance but a counter appear at the left bottom and running - like a timer, running from 0, 1, 2.... until it reaches 6000 which i think something went wrong, so no choice pull the battery. sweat.gif

restart the Note in recovery mode - and the CWM (not abyss) still there. So tried the none wipe version instead - done and reboot without problem. shakehead.gif

but tested the keyboard in Contact - still freeze. rclxub.gif That is the reason i want to do full wipe in the first place. Might need to redo a PC Odin clean install with Taiwan LPF instead.....sigh....

btw, since Abyss4.2 has some issue on my Note, can i use Abyss 3.9 instead? 3.9 has always been great in my Note. thumbup.gif

Cynox, i experienced the same thing when i restarted recovery after flashing Abyss 4.2. However, i did not pull the battery with the timer thing; just try pressing the power button until the screen/phone turns off. Then the usual power, home button and volume up button got me back to Abyss recovery.
*
i think should be the same with pull battery. becoz i encounter hang at boot before and sometime after pull battery and turn on, it will boot into recovery straight but that was with the GB ROM. But this time it boot into CWM, weird.

I did flash the full Taiwan ICS stock ROM including the Bootloader. So dunno whether this is another possible issue. sweat.gif

wow... you are a loving brother. laugh.gif Most likely my wife will get the S3 - time to upgrade from the aging HTC Desire.

No temptation for me unless it has the same screen size as the Note. I believe a lot of bros here will feel the same. tongue.gif

how about if i am currently now on LP9 rooted
then:-

1) flash to LPF Taiwan using PC Odin
2) Boot into CWM
3)Flash abyss kernel 4.2
4) Wipe caches & DAlvik
5) Flask RRv1
5)Reboot

is my step correct? sifu's pls advise
*
if you are already on LP9, shouldn't you just skip step 1 and do step 2 straight? What's the point of doing Step 1?

I think in summary, the first step to flash ICS custom ROM is to flash a working Abyss 4.2 as a tool to flash custom ROM.

To get LPY/LPF kernel? hmm.gif
*
shocking.gif the moment you flash RR V1, it will flash its own kernel. If we want to flash a particular kernel, always flash it AFTER we flash custom rom, not the other way round. sweat.gif

EDIT: Of course for Abyss 4.2 is different story coz we use it as a flashing tool. wink.gif

My Nokia BH-109 really sucks, can't even withstand of 1 day of standby. sweat.gif

i just use a cheapo Jabra in car while driving. But if sometime can't find the tiny Jabra, use speaker phone function instead. biggrin.gif

Got a SonyEricson MW600 too but seldom use. sweat.gif

so far quite smooth but still downloading my TB and not yet restore my 170+ apps yet. tongue.gif Will update later. The most obvious changes is the S3 theme - it feels so modern and sophisticated!! I notice there are some AOSP vanilla blue theme inside - dunno whether it is original S3 theme or added/mod by the TMT team.

And the phone is identified as I9300...lol... I got a Note S III now. rclxms.gif

ultra gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy lol

P/S: cynox, i still figuring out how to extract the apk from LP9 rom. cz i refer back to the old time chinese input zip file, not oni the apk is needed but the META-INF and system (app and lib) files are required. will go for trial n error first.
*
appreciate your effort but dun risk your Note with it. I can just install Baidu input if it is not as simple as just copy and paste.

QUOTE(Fallenangelz @ May 24 2012, 03:28 PM)
uploading TMT to my google drive. will provide link once finished.
btw anyone flashed to TMT? do i have to dl the nandroid zip and extract it into the TMT zip file again since inside edi got a bigger nandroid zip d?
*
yes, unzip the Nandroid.7z and copy the nandroid.md5 to the already extracted TMT_1.4_FINAL to replace the original nandroid.md5. The nandroid.md5 is just a checksum. They put a wrong file inside in TMT zip. No big deal but it will prompt a wrong md5 checksum error when restoring.
