why some users complain they have been charge high by telco even they subscribe to data plan? afraid will happen to me even i subscribe to 1gb data plan.

most of the high charges i know of came from roaming overseas. when u bring your phone overseas and use data while on roaming, u need to have very deep pockets.

Telco like Maxis only charge when you exceed your data plan. Digi will not charge if your exceed the quota but your speed will be throttle.

i found out that there is no such safeguard anymore. You CANNOT prevent your Note to connect to mobile data.

previously with HTC Froyo, once the system startup fresh from factory reset or whatever - the first time you boot up your phone, it will not connect to mobile data, instead it will let you setup wifi first and ask also whether you have a data plan. Absolutely no mobile traffic occur.

But i notice not anymore on Samsung and HTC Desire HD (on ICS custom rom). Immediately after you boot up the phone and key in your Pin number, the data connection starts!!!! If you are ignorant and go pandai pandai setup your google account, then be prepared to pay RM20-30 of data charges at the minimum before you can turn the mobile data off and switch to wifi. Kena this on my wife's Desire and my brother's Desire HD. My Note also behave the same way but i have DiGi data plan, so no issue for me. Change my wife's and brother's Maxis line immediately to the new value RM50 all-in-one data+call+sms plan.

of course if you want to turn on/off the mobile data, just follow the steps mentioned above by hellscream.

Coz I came from stock GB , no reset after getting the ICS. Did you do one? I think you should be getting a better result if so.

not everybody in paranoid xda got battery prob la, how long did u use the rom bro before u judge the battery consumption?

apps got nothing to do if u didnt set your phone and your apps right..i got 120++ apps, 3Gmail sync + 1 exchange mail with 3G always on

2 hour screen time usually gets my batt down to 50% level no matter how long it's unplugged. The screen is big, but the tradeoff is how much energy it takes...

Anyways, first day on LPF ICS ROM and all the comments about how good this ROM is on xda-developers is actually true! On a stock unmodded ROM, my battery only makan like 40% with 1hr30min screen time. Still got 30 mins of wakelock though, but it's massive improvement over the LPY ROM I used for a week.

Overall performance is also on par or better than German LPY ROM, but now I don't have to face unsleeping Note issues!

New modem is also pretty good as well, no issues with data connection breaking up and even masuk lift also still can get some signal! Previously any data connection sure die when masuk lift. Really got a difference.

i m using nova prime. feel nova is more smoother compared to apex

just make sure u dont exceed ur data quota..then u good to go..if go overseas try subscribe data roaming..dont know other telco but maxis u can subcribe data roaming for at least 3 days..it will charge u around rm45-80 (actually i dont really remember the price..) and u will got unlimited data for 3 days..

I just read on xda that samsung has finally released the sources for ICS. Means there will be stable kernels finally from the devs in xda in a few hours, days or weeks.
