Sorry for opening new thread for this. its was from my previous thread here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2352868 , but i need fast response on this matter. icon_question.gif

ok.. now i have bought this MBA second hand. based on the seller, it should still have warranty from Apple. but when i check the warranty on Apple support site, came out this

"Please validate your product's purchase date.
Apple is unable to provide information about your service coverage. Please sign in with your Apple ID and provide your product's date of purchase so that we can display your coverage information."

what does this mean? will it require receipt to validate purchase date? because i don't have receipt here. the MBA just come with charger..

please advice. icon_question.gif

You need a receipt to prove to Apple your purchase date.

Without receipt your warranty would start from the production date of your machine.

Call up Apple call centre, tell them the whole story, they will advice you accordingly.

Get back to your seller, ask him/her where the machine was bought, go back to the same shop, provide your machine serial number & ask for a receipt.

The receipt will help you in 2 ways -
1. get warranty from Apple.
2. claim income tax.

Good luck.

thanks for reply sir..

i managed to get the warranty registered this way:

in Apple support site> check your warranty & support coverage> key in serial number

and after got msg "please validate the purchase date", i click "continue", then the site prompted me to set the date.

i was told by the seller, the MBA is half year old. based on that, it should be purchased on early 2012. so, i try and error.

i chosen the last day of the month (30th) as the day to ensure the max warranty i can have. then i go by month. first i tried my luck on May biggrin.gif and obviously i got the msg "sorry we cannot bla...bla..bla.. please provide us proof of purchase bla..bla..bla.." laugh.gif

then, i go down month by month, April>Mar>Feb>Jan, finally the warranty got registered on 30th January 2012 until 30th January 2013. rclxms.gif

I have created an account just to thank you for sharing the way you managed to register the warranty, it helped me now (in 2017) with an iPhone 7. Appreciate the help you extended to the community. Kind regards.
