I'm planning to get the 15R SE with back lit keyboard. There is two versions of 15R SE on the Dell website, one costs RM2999, the other RM 3399.

The only difference between the two versions is the SSD only right? Does the 2999 version has Full HD screen?

And how do I get this 7% discount?

Added on June 2, 2012, 4:12 amAfter some research, I answered my own question. tongue.gif

15R SE RM2999 is not Full HD
15R SE RM3399 is Full HD, with 32GB SSD

And for the 7% discount, use the following code.

Tier 3: Dell laptop series between RM 2,501 - RM 3,000.
Get an extra 7% coupon cash off when you purchase now.
Use Coupon Number "LL35NXBV24PBLM" at the checkout.

Although the 15R SE with Full HD screen and 32GB SSD is RM3399, more than the RM3000 stated, it still can be used rclxms.gif

Can I use the coupon number if I buy it at pavilion ??
*
Hmm I'm not sure, but I'd bet the coupon is only available for online purchases.

But I guess you could ask the people at Pavilion to give you a similar discount since it is offered in the Dell official website.

Or a simpler way would be to just buy from the online store tongue.gif

for those who have bought SE version online please do tell me which items did you order along with the laptop other than extended warranty . Do I need the basic client installation ?? & what is meant by "installation of a wireless network "??
*
Besides the extended warranty, I'd pay extra RM42 for the backlit keyboard too tongue.gif

Yeh! Congratulation, you make it  rclxms.gif

Dell is great as consumer are well protected by their returned policy.
You can ask for discount if there are better promotion even if you received your laptop but within the returned policy timeframe.  thumbup.gif
Hurry up to ask for rebate:
15R SE = 3399 less 200  and less 9% EPP discount cost around RM2911.

Wish you good luck  biggrin.gif

I ordered the 15R SE with SSD, and added 3 years warranty and also backlit keyboard. Total cost minus 7% discount is RM3478.20

Now I try to order again same model, get 9% discount and RM200 rebate, the price reduced to RM3221.40. Thats more than RM250 difference!

I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow for a rebate smile.gif

using which contact number?

Yeah call which number? Dell website has two numbers.

Home & Home Office
Systems Sales 1800-88-0301

Service & Support
Customer Support 1800-880-022

I plan to call the first number, since this should be under sales right?

how can they be like this?=O
*
They say every week different promotion, they cannot keep giving previous customers rebates because of that.

I'm gonna receive my new Dell tomorrow. Thinking about returning it and then ordering again for the cheaper price, but it is very troublesome sweat.gif

I received my 15R SE with 32GB SSD this morning.

Quite satisfied with it so far. Only thing is I still don't know how to utilize the SSD. I thought it will be like another hard disk that will appear in My Computer but its not there.

Then I checked the tray at the bottom right corner and found an Intel Rapid Start thingy that shows my 32GB SSD is there. But I still have no idea how to access it lol

see if something like this is enabled
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4329/intel-z...aching-review/5

the ssd is for ssd caching one, you can choose to use 8gb for iFFs ( fast recover from hibernate) if you want.
*
Okay, so does it mean that the 32GB is just something like RAM, I can't use it to store files?

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Jun 14 2012, 02:38 AM)
Lol... havent even got my dell 15r SE and the price already dropped by 10% and the Lenovo Y580 looks like a better value-for-money laptop with the gtx660.
*
Sigh, I understand how you feel too. sad.gif But I'm leaving to study at Australia soon and don't have the time do return and get a new one or something.

Haven't got myself a mouse yet, so I'm relying on the touch pad.

Kinda disappointed that the touch pad doesn't have a side scrolling function though. sad.gif I thought every laptop nowadays has it. Even the HP netbook that I gotten for free from TM for the Cool Uni pack 2 years back has it.

I take that back, just found the Dell Touch Pad settings at the control panel. Use gestures to scroll biggrin.gif

bad news...my new 15R SE rosak... just 2 days only...no gaming...

What... After only 2 days? That is very unfortunate... rclxub.gif

Did you give Dell a call? From what I gathered around here Dell's after sales service is top notch. They should be able to solve it quickly.

hi all,
I was looking for review on Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition and I found this website, would
guys, like to thank you all for the feedbacks. It help me a lot, but i still got a few question to ask.

1. since this is using ivybridge, it should have the integrated intel hd graphics 4000, correct? (or it is disabled?)

2. does it support auto switching between AMD Radeon™ HD 7730M DDR3 2GB? (eg: intel hd4000 when normal usage, kick start ATI Radeon when playing games?)

3. how does the wireless display (widi) works for this model? seems like I can't find any widi compatible router at my place (I'm in penang)
*
I'm wondering about this as well. How do I change to the HD 7730M? I went to dxdiag at it says HD4000.
