you will have to use the 'dell chat' or call them and ask if there's any student discount for specified model.

Do u know how many % is the discount for student discount?

May I know why this is cheaper than the 15R SE in dell website?

http://www.techhypermart.com/notebooks/del...6-notebook.html

RM2609 with everything same except 4GB RAM, this one even better with 1600x900 screen and GT640M GPU.

Since I can always add another 4GB RAM myself, is it better to get this than the RM2999 from dell?
*
u can check out dell website now...there is a rm200 rebate for 14R n 15R SE model + oso another 7 % DELL EPP discount...so it is even cheaper than this shop + u can customize it with extended warranty and also backlit keyboard( which is only rm42 and looks totally boss) which i dun think can b done if u buy from physical store...I myself plan to get the 15R SE with FHD n SSD ....

Is the 3 years in home warranty for rm299 really worth spending? Still hesitating on that part...bcoz without the 3 years warranty.. i could get dell inspiron 15R SE (FHD) + backlit keyboard and media cd for roughly 3k....

Well i prefer the 640m biggrin.gif you can always sacrifice your dvd drive and add a ssd there tongue.gif
*
i would personally go for the opposite...there isnt much diff between gt640 and 7730M...however the 15R if u choose to spend more, u will get a 15" FHD (which is way way better than a 14"HD screen) and msata ssd which will help increase the os booting and overall speed

Hi Sifus, I am interested in one of these... I think Dell is abit more expensive than Lenovo if configure for same spec but not sure...
- Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M
- Ideapad Y580, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M
May I know which one suite better... would like to use it for video/ graphic editing/ movie/ online/ medium gaming but do not intend to play graphics intensive game. Please help to recommend. Thanks.
*
y580 is definitely the best bang for buck notebook out there currently...get the FHD model now and it will come with a free headset...the reason why most ppl go dell is unless u wan to hav 3 years of reliable warranty...other than tat, y580 is better in all aspect n oso hav a 2 year warranty...
