i came across this on some web,

"Many have been signing petitions to bring Rafa back, others are signing petitions not to bring Rafa back while some are signing petitions not to make Martinez Gaffer.

And someone went as far as Tweeting US President Barack Obama asking him for help!!!!

@BarackObama Get Rafa Benitez the Liverpool job and youv’e definitely got my vote in the US Election! Fair Deal??

WTF is Obama going to do?

Come on Reds, take a deep breathe and chill."

Roberto Martinez is closing in on the Liverpool job and is reported to be in the US holding more talks with the Reds owners.

The Latics boss was due to fly out on holiday to Barbados but now it is being claimed he is in fact in Boston, Massachusetts, the home of Fenway Sports Group.
Liverpool fans want former boss Rafa Benitez back but the Reds' principal owner, John Henry, has other ideas and it is another Spaniard, Martinez, he wants at the helm.
Martinez turned down Aston Villa last summer but he would jump at the chance to manage Liverpool and if he is offered the job he will leave the DW Stadium with Dave Whelan's blessing.
Whelan himself has yet to comment on all the rumours, which suggests there is definitely something in them as he has been quick to deny previous stories linking his manager with a move away.
The bookies have also made Martinez the short-priced favourite and Latics could soon be looking for a new manager themselves with Blackpool's Ian Holloway already being mentioned as a possible successor.

I never understand why you always feel the need to rub his name through the mud when trying to make a point. I don't know about you, but i was and still glad that he took the fight to H&G. Weaker man would bow to their mercy.
*
im tired of people bashing rafa all the time, when rafa feels something is not right of course he should fight them, do you think we still live in the 70s?? go and read some news, how many countries their citizen start to protest against their government for treating them like shyt. you wanna blame rafa for selling alonso?? you should be thankfull to him for bringing so much profits for us, the club top 3 most expansive player we sold is all bought by rafa, you wanna complain about the way he handle the player?? if the player doesnt complain why u wanna complain?? or are you playing for liverpool? without rafa we wont have champions league trophy on our cabinet right now. and since u preffer those kind of manager who could keep quiet and not voicing out at how the owner treating him, well guess what, you are getting it now since FSG is looking for a puppet, then dont complain manager being too soft and listen to the owner too much.

Wait what?! Rafa's dispute with Valencia was because he didn't get the signings he wanted and he resigned...what fight?

Rafa's time at Inter was a nightmare because for whatever reason Moratti decided to significantly reduce expenditure all of a sudden for the FFP rule giving Rafa no chance to strengthen a squad that is clearly tired and weaken since Jose's time.

Shouldn't he be regarded a hero of Liverpool instead for bringing the fight to H&G?
*
and its weird i did not hear anyone complain when rafa won us the champion's league nor when he kickstart the fight with H&G, after everything is over then only voice out??? so after everything is over then suddenly forget everything he has done for the club and start flaming him? bravo to you then

WHELAN: MARTINEZ MIGHT SNUB REDS

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan insists there is no sure-fire guarantee Roberto Martinez would take the Liverpool manager's job should it be offered to him.

The Latics chief revealed on Thursday the Spaniard had taken a break from a family holiday in the Caribbean to meet top executives from Fenway Sports Group in Miami.

Martinez has always been one of the front-runners to succeed Kenny Dalglish, partly because of his chairman's habit of speaking so openly about developments.

There are still other candidates to consider as FSG were hopeful of drawing up a shortlist of up to five people to interview next week.

But even if Martinez is offered the job Whelan believes the new structure being implemented at Anfield, with a yet-to-be-appointed technical director overseeing general football matters, would not be appealing to the 38-year-old.

"A little bit will have to do with the attitude of the owners because I don't think they fully understand the game of football in England," he told Sky Sports.

"Roberto likes total control, from the youngsters at 16 to the first team.

"If he doesn't get that I don't think he will take the job."

Whelan added on ESPN: "My information is that the new Liverpool manager will not be given full responsibility of the football department.

"The set-up on the football side goes well beyond the norm even with a director of football.

"There will be somebody else signing players and they might not necessarily be the choice of the manager.

"My advice to Roberto is to think very carefully about this, but Liverpool are a big club and I hope that they remain one of the big clubs.

"I've asked Roberto to make his mind up as soon as possible. If we have to lose him I will move very quickly to appoint a successor as I have ideas.

"Hopefully he will stay with us but we will wait and see.

"He has not said anything to me yet about what he plans to do but I have told him what I think about it, of course I have.

"I have told him it doesn't feel right what is happening at Liverpool, but its for him to make his own mind up.

"If it's yes to Liverpool I will accept it and get on with life. But if it's no I'll be delighted.

"I hope he will stay but I told him I need an answer in the next seven days."

Whelan expects to be fully compensated should Martinez turn out to be Liverpool's choice.

"He signed an extension to his contract so Liverpool would have to buy out his contract," he added.

"You are into £2million to £3million minimum. Whatever the contract is worth I am sure Liverpool would honour that and buy it out."

some good news

Martinez offer not yet tabled

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have let it be known that a formal offer has not been made to Roberto Martinez, though admitted that talks with the current Wigan boss - held in Miami yesterday - were constructive.

After holding a telephone conversation with the Spaniard Latics chairman, Dave Whelan, was quick to tell the press that he believed the chance of succeeding Kenny Dalglish had been put before Martinez.

However, he stated that no one at the DW Stadium had given up hopes of retaining the 38-year-old's services. Also that the potential imposition of a director who may hold sway over transfer deals may be condition Martinez would not feel comfortable with.

"He is now back at my home in Barbados," Whelan said, confirming that Martinez was now able to think recent matters over.

"He returns to London on Tuesday, when he will have further talks with Liverpool and when a decision will be made. There was no other manager mentioned, so I imagine they want Roberto.

"I don’t want to lose him, but I made him a promise when he first joined that if a big club came in for him, I’d let him go, and I will honour that promise.

"I am still not convinced it is a foregone conclusion, because they put their points on the table and Roberto put his."

Whelan added: "He listened to their points, but I think they also listened to his and I think they are coming to terms with the way English football is run. Roberto wants control over football matters and that includes transfers, and if they agree to that, I can see him becoming the Liverpool manager.

"Roberto works seven days a week, sometimes 12 hours a day. He is not the average manager, but he likes to run the football side and I can see Liverpool’s point of view about the amount of money spent on players.

"If they agree to let Roberto take responsibility for the transfers, I think he will go there, and I can see that Liverpool have set their sights on him."

Though FSG and their advisers rate Martinez highly and talks are set to continue next week, there remains no guarantee that the Wigan boss will be the man finally turned to.

Hopes remain that others on the revised shortlist Liverpool now have can be brought to the table.

That may not include Pep Guardiola who, despite enticing headlines that he may wish to look for a new project in a month's time, actually confirmed that he would take some months to recharge his batteries after leaving Barcelona.

Here are the three wise men Brendan Rodgers will bring with him....
ALONG with agreeing compensation with Swansea for manager Brendan Rodgers today, Liverpool FC have also secured three key members of his former backroom staff as part of a deal totalling around £7m. Here is the lowdown on those accompanying Rodgers to Anfield:

Colin Pascoe

Former Swansea assistant manager Colin Pascoe will link up again in the dugout with Brendan Rodgers.

The Welshman was capped 10 times for his country during a playing career which spanned 15 years and featured two spells with the Swans.

He made his full Swansea debut on his 18th birthday against Liverpool at Anfield - a game the Reds won 3-0 with goals from Ian Rush, Sammy Lee and David Fairclough.

Pascoe became a part-time coach at the Liberty Stadium under Kenny Jackett and worked with Roberto Martinez and Paulo Sousa before being promoted when Rodgers was at the helm.

Glen Driscoll

Glen Driscoll made his mark at Chelsea as part of the fitness and conditioning team, first with the youth and reserves and later with the senior side.

Working under various managers between 2003-11, he performed a number of roles at the club including performance physio and first-team fitness coach.

He joined the Swansea City set-up under former Reading and Chelsea colleague Brendan Rodgers in October 2011.

On recruiting Glen last year, Rodgers said: "He was head of medical at Chelsea, but what is unique about Glen is that he also has a strong background in football conditioning.

"Initially he worked with the youth department at Chelsea, then he progressed up to overseeing the first-team medical department.

"When Avram Grant took over he moved Glen into the conditioning role and he was first-team conditioning coach under Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti.

"So we are getting someone who has experience in both fields and his role will be to look at performance outside the field."

Chris Davies

Chris Davies was Swansea City's Head of Performance and Opposition Analysis under Brendan Rodgers.

He described his role as critical analysis of "opposing team' tactics/organisation" which was then relayed "to the manager and players through a series of reports and presentations."

Davies was on Reading's books from 2001-04 and was youth captain at the club while Rodgers was in charge.

He represented Wales at u17, u18 and u19 level before completing a degree in Sports and Exercise Science at Loughborough University.

On linking up again with Rodgers at Swansea in 2010, Davies said: "As soon as Brendan got the Swansea job I was straight on the phone to him.

"He taught me my trade, not just as a player but also as a person. He taught all the young players life lessons as well.

"By that I mean how to conduct yourself in a professional and responsible manner off the pitch."

Swansea fear Allen will follow Rodgers to Anfield... but Liverpool will have to pay at least £10m

Liverpool expect to unveil Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers as their manager this morning and he is believed to be considering a bid for the Welsh club’s young midfielder Joe Allen.
Rodgers has agreed a three-year deal to succeed Kenny Dalglish, although negotiations looked set to be held up by a wrangle over compensation. However, the Carling Cup winners have agreed to pay the £5million that was in Rodgers’ contract.

He has been told he can spend this summer and Sportsmail can reveal that, as well as attempting to hijack Swansea’s £6.8m move for Hoffenheim’s Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, Rodgers wants his old club’s highly-rated Wales playmaker Allen, whom he sees as the type of player he needs to transfer his pass-and-move style of football to Anfield. That will cast doubts on the futures of Liverpool midfielders such as Charlie Adam.
Allen, 22 and a product of the Swansea youth system, is known as a creative midfielder player and played 44 times last season. With three years left on his contract, Rodgers may have to pay in excess of £10m to sign him.

Swansea are sure to fight hard to hang on to Allen, especially as Rodgers is already taking three members of his backroom staff to Anfield.
The 39-year-old has been given the go-ahead by Liverpool owners FSG to bring assistant manager Colin Pascoe, head of performance analysis Chris Davies and performance consultant Glen Driscoll to Anfield.

Swansea confirmed that compensation had been agreed for all three and their appointments will be finalised. Dalglish’s assistant Steve Clarke has had one resignation offer rejected at Anfield but it is understood that he will now leave.

Rodgers has been told there are no huge expectations for his debut season, while he has indicated to the owners that Liverpool are a club in need of major change and that will take time.

Liverpool players favoured Benitez back as manager....
Liverpool players were in favour of former manager Rafael Benitez returning to the Anfield hotseat next season, according to goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The 29-year-old, who is currently preparing for the upcoming European Championships with Spain, claims that Benitez was his preferred choice of manager following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish.

However, Liverpool announced on Friday that they had appointed Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers.

Quoted by the Metro prior to the news, Reina said: “For many of my colleagues and me, Rafa Benitez would be the ideal candidate.”

Benitez’s reign at Anfield lasted six years where he delivered a Champions League trophy and FA Cup win in 2006. The Spaniard has been out of work since leaving Inter Milan in 2010.

Meanwhile, Rodgers will not be able to swoop for any of his former Swansea recruits for 12 months after a clause was inserted into the Irishman’s Liverpool contract.

Liverpool boss Rodgers insists no football director
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 00:26
New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers isn't interested in working with a football director.

Plenty of speculation about a new director of football being lined up - with abrasive Dutchman Louis van Gaal hotly-tipped - meant he went into the discussions with a clear idea of what he wanted.

"I made it clear to them, saying 'I respect you have asked me to do the job but I need clarity on one issue'.

"I am very much my own man with my own ideas. The clubs which have been successful in my short career are the ones where I have had a direct line to the top.

"When I didn't have that I had issues so it was clear for me if Liverpool wanted me to be manager it would be a huge privilege but I could only do that if I was the manager.

"What we do then is we get a support team around that - every team has a head of recruitment, head of medicine, head of performance - and then the manager manages that and you trust people to get on with their job."

but then

Liverpool chief Ayre insists Rodgers will work with football director
Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Sat, 06/02/2012 - 00:27
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre says new manager Brendan Rodgers will have a football director working with him.

Ayre insists there will be a number of people employed to fulfil the duties of a sporting director and Rodgers seems happy with the way it has been explained to him.

"The structure - and Brendan is aware of this - is a more continental director of football-type structure, a collaborative group of people working around the football area," said Ayre.

"We don't envisage at this moment in time having a director of football per se but a group of people working with Brendan to deliver the football side of it.

"It is a whole range of people with a range of skill sets and Brendan will have a big impact into that."

Ayre denied that new signings not identified by the new manager would be imposed on the team.

"It is not a signing by committee, it is an analysis by committee," he added.

"But it is certainly not a structure where we would force any player on the manager, as an example.

"It is a very typical continental style with a collaborative of people qualified across various different areas of the football business working the best together for Brendan to be able to do his job."

Liverpool Boss Plans Mass Clearout: Brendan Rodgers to Axe Eight
by Christian Bailey June 4th, 2012

Dirk Kuyt
Having allowed Dirk Kuyt to join Fenerbahce, Rodgers is ready to axe another seven members of his Liverpool playing staff. The 39 year old former Swansea City manager has been told he will be handed a modest transfer budget and that more significant moves in the market will have to be funded by the possible sales of players who can recoup a decent fee.

Maxi Rodriguez
Utility man Maxi Rodriguez is destined to be on his way as Brendan Rodgers looks to adopt a more youthful policy when it comes to first team matters. There is already reported interest in the 31 year both from La Liga and his native Argentina. The former Atletico Madrid man has struggled to force his way into the first team under a succession of managers since his arrival in January 2010.

Alberto Aquilani
Alberto Aquilani has spent the last two seasons out on loan to Juventus and AC Milan and Rodgers has little interest in bringing the Italian international back and the 27 year old is thought to be keen on remaining in Serie A. However Liverpool will not reduce their valuation for a player who cost the club £20m just under three years ago.

Joe Cole
Though Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his admiration for Joe Cole the Anfield boss is ready to listen to offers for the England veteran as he looks to remove his sizable wages from the balance sheet. Wages that are not those of a bench warmer. There is reported interest from Lille, where the Londoner spent last term on loan.

Brad Jones and Doni
Keeper Brad Jones and Doni will also be offloaded as Rodgers looks to give back-up duties to impressive young Hungarian custodian Peter Gulacsi, who has impressed during his loan spell at Hull City last term

Another player who may well be fighting for his Liverpool future is local born midfielder Jay Spearing. The 23 year old battler failed to impress when called upon to act as a back-up for injured Brazilian Lucas Leiva. Rodgers will look to bring in another defensive midfielder who he feels will act as a more reliable replacement. To this end the Anfield boss is said to be in talks with representatives for Barcelona bit-part player Seydou Keita.

Henderson and Downing
Whilst the sales of these six would not necessarily bring in a huge amount in potential transfer funds Brendan Rodgers will also think long and hard about the future of two players who are away at Euro 2012 with the England squad.
Kenny Dalglish spent over £35m on Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing but neither player covered themselves in glory last term and their call-ups to the England camp surprised many, not least Rodgers himself.
Jordan Henderson adheres to the youthful direction the Merseyside club is looking to move towards so he may well survive the cull though a lot could depend on whether Rodgers finds a more naturally suited player to take his spot on the right side of the midfield.
However Stewart Downing, fast approaching 28, is apparently a player Rodgers is willing to cash-in on if a suitable offer is made. The problem in this instance may be that given his form, zero assists and zero goals in 36 Premier League appearances, it could prove a tough task to push for a bid even close to the reported £20m paid to Aston Villa for the winger.
