Like bro jfcheong,I too get around 9.5L/100km on a 50/50 city and urban drive. For me this is acceptable as the power produced is equivalent to a 2.4 liter NA engine, but the FC of 2.4 engine will be a lot more. 408t FC should not be compared with the FC of a 1.6NA. That's like apples and oranges. More fuel has to be used to produce more power.

However, fuel wastage is greatly reduced by these new technology direct injection engines. Combustion is more complete. With turbo, power is greatly enhanced. With all these innovations we are getting power of 2.4NA but FC of 1.8NA engine! You may be wonder why 1.6 litter engine model cost 16K more than the 2litter brethren! It is not the extra frills the 408t carries but rather for the latest technology this engine brings! Let me also tell you at 126K, it is a phenomenal bargain!!! Show me another car with this price, with this spec!!!

You can get better FC than ours. That one have to learn from bro bearhearts wife! That's what I call 'the art of fine driving'!

Maintenance is comparable with most C segment cars. Like bro lowpro said, 60K service has been adjusted, nothing to fear now. 308t owners are quoting $1.6K for the 60K major service! I will suggest to Nasim to get gearbox fluids direct from Aisin, this will definitely drop major service cost. Would like to hear from bro's their input on this. Is there a better way to approach this, please give me your suggestions.

Wow! Thanks for the mention. Hehe. When I drive it, the consumption goes up to 7.7 L/100km :-p. When she drives it, it goes down again.

cybermaster98, thanks for your quick response bro!

Good point on the K5, as my Camry (a D segment car) actually has better FC from the get go compared to my 408.

Anywayz, I think I'll just send the car down to Nasim Plentong for inspection next week (shld hit 2k over the weekends) to see whats wrong with the car. Will keep u guys updated once I get the report.

I initially thought that 408T was a light car, but no, its kerb weight is 1485kg. :-p

Prody, my manuals stuck at home until I get off work at 3am today, if you don't mind me asking where's the MODE button? I only got 2 buttons on the trip meter, a MILEAGE/SERVICE BUTTON, and another button that doesn't seem to do anything (the logo looks like a meter with a sun on top of it). If I'm not mistaken for the 408T, you can display the FC/AVG SPEED by pressing the button on the edge of the wiper controls, but it doesn't seem to work at all on my Pug.
*
The button with the "sun" on top of it is to change the brightness of the LCD display.

Use the 'fill-drive-fill-measure' method over a long distance to calculate. Readings from the meter are only indicative. I got 6.8-7.0L/100km during my 110kmph drive.
*
True, in my case the actual consumption calculated by "fill-drive-fill-measure" method was 8.0 L/100km when the FC meter showed consumption of 7.5 L/100km. I don't know what parameters the meter uses to base its estimate on. It's just an estimate. To help you drive conservatively. Hehe.

I test drove 308t, halfway thru the engine check light appeared, SA said it's normal and given its a test car, they have not serviced the car.  rclxub.gif
That is utterly sloppy. Inexcusable! *face palm*

my.calculation is simple. full tank in kl. when i m back to kl. i pump full tank again. whatever spent in between is for mileage. i refill rm75 in total. but when i m back, refill to full tank is.84. so, to.average out, i divide.by 2. for.sure my mileage was 1030km. 400 km plus to jb and i still have half tank. at first, i was shock too. but on second thought, it maybe possible bcos i drove at 110-130km on cruise control mostly.

maybe i really calculate wrongly. any.maths expert here?
*
No need maths expert.. you drove a total of 1030km. The tank was full when you started. You filled a total of RM159.06 worth of petrol to full again when you arrived home. The cost per km is close to 16 sen per km. That's about 8L/100km. About right for usual fuel consumption of Peugeot 408.

Honestly I don't have answer to that . When I posted the link I never say 408 scoring better... I said it is interesting thing when Toyota Camry and Prius have such low safety revelation. I only know 408 is not sold in us and Europe so they don't get IIHS or E-NCAP rating or test. However in china they do have a CNCAP scoring  and 408 appeared at the top

For further reading for 408 safety features and what have been done extra or reinforced differently to it, read this

Following up on that thread... here's the C-NCAP page for 408.
