Guys,the Gurun assembly plant produces the 408 for the whole of ASEAN. 50 units were assembled for Malaysia this time. If all 50 are taken up,the next batch will take 2 months. So better make your bookings right away and hope all 50 have not been taken already!

Added on July 30, 2012, 9:32 amAm thinking of changing from 225/45R17 to 225/55R17,purely for comfort. Want to keep to the original 17"rim cos they look good. Low profiles are rather uncomfortable. Have reduced tyre pressure to 2.5 bar,only slight difference in comfort. Am willing to compromise on handling.Handling on this car is at a very high standard,but I don't use to it maximum. So would prefer a less bouncy ride at high speeds.
Wondering if the ECU can be adjusted to cater for the larger beed so that all input signals are proper.

Added on August 1, 2012, 9:50 amYa just test drive and feel what it has to offer. I actually fell for this 2 years ago. That time the Prince engine was putting out 140hp mated with 4 speed gearbox. For the 408 it has evolved pushing out 163hp mated with 6 speed gearbox. The result - poetry in motion!
This engine has amazing potential. Won European Engine Award for 4 consecutive years! Different versions are already in use in different cars.

I took it up to 180kmh. No flooty feel,rock steady! The power was smooth and effordless. The Lion just wants to chew up the hwy! But our roads are so lousy,the car was very bouncy so did not go any higher.Traffic also is quite heavy at hwy to Seremban so not safe. Pulled back to 140kmh which was a lot more comfortable. Will try LEKAS hwy,a lot quieter there,but have to find an excuse to leave my wife at home,hehehe!

Let's hear from our NA bros. What max speed have you done? How does the car handle the speed? Does our poor road condition have bouncy effect at high speed?

I'm very surprised they told you next service is 12.5k. Even more surprised that they wrote this in the service booklet. Better reconfirm cos you'll loose warranty if you exceed 10k on your next service.

If you exceed 10.5k or 6 months + 2 weeks on your next service, which ever come first,you loose warranty! This is stated in the warranty plan booklet.

Tks for your explanation bro lowpro. The 3.6k cost for 60km service makes more sense now. Bros here and myself were under the impression the 3.6k was for fluid change only,which is more than expensive. Even if you were to take into account the 6 spd tranny,how much more is an additional litre or two of ATF going to cost? . We now know apart from fluids there are parts too.

Welcome bro,I could not decide between the bronze and blue. Drove to a few centres to view the bronze,could not see any and finally took the blue. Somehow I think I still like the bronze better. Btw as soon as you've decided, update owner list.
Just to let you know,I've had my car for over a month. Everything works fine. Power from the turbo is simply addictive! Lion wants to be unleashed all the time,hehehe! Sometimes I only realise I'm doing 170kmh when the car gets a bit bouncy due to our bad road conditions. You have made a good choice by going turbo.
Have one issue,faint rattle from back door at high speed. Will have it looked at soon.

Hehehe......ok! Btw bro,blue shows dirt very easily. Like even rain spots will show easily. So have to wipe down almost daily. I think white may be easier to maintain.

Added on August 7, 2012, 10:03 amSomething doen't sit quite right with me on this. If an engine is leaking it will be right at the bottom of the car. Does it seem likely anyone would get on their knees to look for oil leak after testing a brand new car! On an old car yes,but a brand new car???

Btw I tested 5 brand new cars and 7 used cars before I booked the 408. On all 7 used cars I went on my knees, not on any of the new cars!

There's really not much of a difference in FC between the turbo and NA. It all depends how you drive. However for 16k more you get quite a lot on the turbo model, stretching from additional safety features to exciting drive! Think no more,go for the turbo,you'll not regrett!

408t is by far superior in power and NVH compared to the Civi and Altis. I mean it is no match at all, 408t wins hands down! However you may find the 408t a bit bouncy at high speeds due to it's sports tuned suspension. This is not a fault with the car but rather due to our lousy road conditions. Here the Civi and Altis may be a bit more comfortable due to their softer suspensions.

Added on August 8, 2012, 10:45 amThis is not an entirely true statement. It is wrong to say the NA is more reliable than the THP. The NA has proved itself and is reliable. Former THP's had reliability issues. Various mods were done on this THP - EP6CDT. if you look at the owner list,double the number of THPs on the roads. No one as yet to complain about their engine. As we know of,today,the EP6CDT( turbo ) is as reliable as the EW10A+(NA).
