Guys, the Gurun assembly plant produces the 408 for the whole of ASEAN. 50 units were assembled for Malaysia this time. If all 50 are taken up,the next batch will take 2 months. So better make your bookings right away and hope all 50 have not been taken already!
Added on July 30, 2012, 9:32 amAm thinking of changing from 225/45R17 to 225/55R17,purely for comfort. Want to keep to the original 17"rim cos they look good. Low profiles are rather uncomfortable. Have reduced tyre pressure to 2.5 bar, only slight difference in comfort. Am willing to compromise on handling.Handling on this car is at a very high standard, but I don't use to it maximum. So would prefer a less bouncy ride at high speeds. Wondering if the ECU can be adjusted to cater for the larger beed so that all input signals are proper. I actually fell for this 2 years ago. That time the Prince engine was putting out 140hp mated with 4 speed gearbox. For the 408 it has evolved pushing out 163hp mated with 6 speed gearbox. The result - poetry in motion! This engine has amazing potential. Won European Engine Award for 4 consecutive years! Different versions are already in use in different cars. I know the feeling of a "bumpy" ride. I wonder if going for a higher profile or "softer" tyres will help or not. Google research says suspension tuning and tyre profile will help. But, I guess no need for these type of mods for a new car lah, why burn more hole in the pocket : Ya I'll change to normal profile later. That should help a bit. Anyway don't want get caught by speed traps,so will not speed that much. Good to have the acceleration when required. Anyway, very satisfied with the cars performance! No regrets! Let's hear from our NA bros. What max speed have you done? How does the car handle the speed? Does our poor road condition have bouncy effect at high speed?

QUOTE(OrangBiasa @ Aug 2 2012, 01:02 PM) I had my 2.5K inspection last Monday at Balakong SC. Almost 3 hours to complete. I didn't observe much as most of the time my car was idle there. They told me that the next service is when the mileage reach 12.5K. They wrote it in the service booklet. Should I wait until 12.5K or exactly at 10K for next service? Any advise from sifu here? Tq If you exceed 10.5k or 6 months + 2 weeks on your next service, which ever come first, you loose warranty! This is stated in the warranty plan booklet. QUOTE(lowpro @ Aug 2 2012, 06:17 PM) 100% correct skyjack! i think that person who wrote the wrong note in the service book should get lessons on how to read a service book! how can they say that! so, coming back to the next service, it should be like this: Well I hope our bro understands this and not loose warranty due to a stupid staff! Lucky he mentioned it here and is getting the warning from us. I also hope he is damn mad and gives the stupid staff a good screwing! It will be such a loss to void 5 year warranty!First service of 10,000km is 6 months from date of registration or at 10,000km whichever comes first and not 10,000km added to the first 2,500km inspection. |

Tks for your explanation bro lowpro. The 3.6k cost for 60km service makes more sense now. Bros here and myself were under the impression the 3.6k was for fluid change only, which is more than expensive. Even if you were to take into account the 6 spd tranny, how much more is an additional litre or two of ATF going to cost? . We now know apart from fluids there are parts too.

QUOTE(KLTEOH @ Aug 5 2012, 01:48 PM) Welcome bro,I could not decide between the bronze and blue. Drove to a few centres to view the bronze, could not see any and finally took the blue. Somehow I think I still like the bronze better. Btw as soon as you've decided, update owner list.Just to let you know,I've had my car for over a month. Everything works fine. Power from the turbo is simply addictive! Lion wants to be unleashed all the time, hehehe! Sometimes I only realise I'm doing 170kmh when the car gets a bit bouncy due to our bad road conditions. You have made a good choice by going turbo. Have one issue, faint rattle from back door at high speed. Will have it looked at soon. This post has been edited by SKYjack: Aug 5 2012, 10:55 PM |

You mean your car will be available for you to pickup at the spot and time mentioned. How do they do this, on a trailer and moving around? This post has been edited by SKYjack: Aug 6 2012, 04:34 PM |

QUOTE(KLTEOH @ Aug 6 2012, 05:00 PM) NO.. just watch at the pictures posted by BS501. he didn't upload the blue and grey. if upload two more color i mention, then are completed all the 408's color range. Hehehe......ok! Btw bro, blue shows dirt very easily. Like even rain spots will show easily. So have to wipe down almost daily. I think white may be easier to maintain.white it look nice also but very hard to take care.. finally i choose the blue same with u. |

QUOTE(lowpro @ Aug 7 2012, 08:04 AM) oops, sorry if i made it unclear. for the 'shuttle' service, they use the peugeot 207. and this car which has a sticker on its side to show 'peugeot shuttle' goes along a pre-determined route daily to fetch and send customers to key points. very much like a bus service but for peugeot owners only. Oh ok got it now. Hey that's not bad. Good to know Peugeot is putting efforts to improve customer service! Tks bro!Added on August 7, 2012, 10:03 am QUOTE(garytey @ Aug 6 2012, 06:24 PM) no, funny thing, when i back from test drive and parking it to the usual place, there is oil or something on the ground, i asked her what's that, oil leaking? she said .. oh it's time to service... i was like "wtf, only 79km new test drive car. Something doen't sit quite right with me on this. If an engine is leaking it will be right at the bottom of the car. Does it seem likely anyone would get on their knees to look for oil leak after testing a brand new car! On an old car yes,but a brand new car???Btw I tested 5 brand new cars and 7 used cars before I booked the 408. On all 7 used cars I went on my knees, not on any of the new cars! QUOTE(cnr89 @ Aug 7 2012, 03:00 PM) opps ..sorry, wrong type.. i mean 2.0NA There's really not much of a difference in FC between the turbo and NA. It all depends how you drive. However for 16k more you get quite a lot on the turbo model, stretching from additional safety features to exciting drive! Think no more,go for the turbo, you'll not regrett!Added on August 7, 2012, 3:20 pmHi kejusan, Poyoguy, Gill71, AHY20, prody from the above, understand you all are driving 2.0NA now. mind to share me the fuel consumption for 2.0 NA? |

QUOTE(saratoga @ Aug 7 2012, 10:34 PM) Hi, compare 408 1.6T to others car say civic 2.0, altis 1.8/2.0, how you guys owners think in term of power, NVH ? 408t is by far superior in power and NVH compared to the Civi and Altis. I mean it is no match at all, 408t wins hands down! However you may find the 408t a bit bouncy at high speeds due to it's sports tuned suspension. This is not a fault with the car but rather due to our lousy road conditions. Here the Civi and Altis may be a bit more comfortable due to their softer suspensions.I test drive both 308/408T, feel that 308T seem better power, though same engine different tuning. Added on August 8, 2012, 10:06 am QUOTE(jfcheong @ Aug 8 2012, 08:32 AM) I dint really teat drive Jetta. But did sit inside it and look at the interior. Just sorry that I can't accept Jetta interior, it's too empty feel for me. Exactly my feeling. I sat in and felt everything kind of dated. The interest factor just died! Wasn't even interested to test drive. However, German quality speaks for itself. It is very high standard,no questions there!Added on August 8, 2012, 10:45 am QUOTE(jfcheong @ Aug 7 2012, 09:18 PM) Somemore 2.0NA engine is more reliable compare to 16T This is not an entirely true statement. It is wrong to say the NA is more reliable than the THP. The NA has proved itself and is reliable. Former THP's had reliability issues. Various mods were done on this THP - EP6CDT. if you look at the owner list, double the number of THPs on the roads. No one as yet to complain about their engine. As we know of,today, the EP6CDT( turbo ) is as reliable as the EW10A+(NA).This post has been edited by SKYjack: Aug 8 2012, 10:52 AM |

There is no evidence to indicate the EP6CDT-M is less reliable than the EW10A+. If you have any facts, I'd be glad to know.Bro please don't feel that I'm trying to be funny.
