Is the 3M AP902 can be backwashed? The AP902 only last me for 30000 gallon of usage then the filter become dirty, it is quite high cost to maintain. Would installing a 3M 1M1 pre filter help?
Thanks
*
If u install this external 1, it will clog much faster compared to the AP902 and u need to either change or clean it regularly, you are staying in condo or landed? If landed change to our latest membrane multipore to save cost and better filtration 0.01micron, if condo and no place for backwash then your only best option is AP902

Hi Zheilwane,
Is your latest membrane multipore the same as UF membrane you mentioned a while ago? You didnt’t recommend on using UF membrane back then due to the cons outweighing its pros.
Thank you.
*
Yup, regular UF membrane has several problems explained by our supplier and that is wht we didnt wanna sell it. With the new multibore design, my supplier say it is tested to be more durable. So, we sold 1 to a friend who insisted to get membrane filter due to the design, used for several months without clogging issue and good flowrate, so we started selling it in our shop. Upto date, feedback is very positive

Hi, this topic seems talking less about nesh water filter, is nesh a good water filter?

http://www.nesh.com.my/en/product/home-car...tdoor-prefilter
*
Nesh is using hollow fibre membrane, similar to most brands in the market such as hydro1, aquarius, puregen and etc etc so many brands. So if u wan something better, u can try google on multibore membrane, this is the latest membrane design and claims that it is better than the previous hollow fibre

'si'm using 3M Outdoor Water Filter AP902 + 3M Indoor Water Filter AP Easy Complete for 4 years already. Change the filter every year. The sign of time to change is that the water coming out from the indoor water filter's tap will become slower and slower. Normally, after a year this will start but somehow since early this year, it become slower ( worse than before ) at around 6 month after changing the filter.
Anyone know what is the problem..
Now it's like the only way is to change the filter but this is become a costly way to do.
*
Ap easy complete recommended to change ever 6 months as labelled on the cartridge.

Attached Image

U change both filters yearly? most ppl dont change AP902 yearly, hence water is getting dirtier and AP EASY getting clogged faster.

If u r not staying in a condo, i suggest u change AP902 to an outdoor filter with backwash, also change AP EASY if u wanna save on maintenance cost.

AP902 replacement is RM 600
AP EASY REPLACEMENT is RM 300

cost per year is RM 600 + (RM 300 x2) = RM 1200, isnt that too costly?

ie :

Get A sand filter + Aquaphor eco indoor filter = RM 2299 + Free replacement x 1 set

First year : RM 2299 (Before trade in Promo)
Second year : FREE
Third Year : RM 420
Forth year : RM 420
Fifth Year : RM 420 + RM 380 (sand replacement)
Total RM 3939 for 5 years

If continue with your current filter is RM 1200 x 5 = RM 6000 almost 50% saving. Save more with trade in promo

Sand Vs AP902
Filtration wise AP902 is better and quite consistent if u change it every year but sand can backwash hence you dont need to change every year.
If u wan better filtration get MEMBRANE FILTER, they are the cleanest but not recommended if ur incoming pressure is weak. Recommended 2bar to 2.5bar is sufficient which most housing area do have.

AP Easy Vs Aquaphor
AP easy consist of a small carbon block with filtration of 0.5 micron, hence recommend to change 6 months compared to other 3M model (1 year). Aquaphor consist of 3 cartridges (2 bigger size carbon block + 1 hallow fibre memrane) with filtration 0.1 micron. So changing it = an upgrade in water quality and reduction in maintenance cost

If u are staying in a condo, unable to install those big filters with backwash, then add this (as per video for RM 150) before your AP902 to pro-long the lifespan and change AP EASY to upgrade the filtration and lower maintenance cost.

May I know, for outdoor sand filter, how long interval to do back wash? There are people saying 3 days, some say 1 week even 2 weeks....

Thanks
*
depending on water quality & usage, i do it 1 to 2 weeks once. If the backwash water is not too dirty, u can drag it longer til the next backwash

ok, thanks. Normally how long duration? Is 20 minutes for back wash and 20 min for rinsing good enough?
*
mine is estimated 10 - 15 minutes, once water is clear, i switch to rince awhile then backwash again to ensure it is really 100% clear.

oh ok...meaning you back wash 10 -15 min, then rinse 10 min..then back wash maybe 5 min....then lastly do you rinse again????? tongue.gif

Thanks!
*
I backwash 10-15min until water clear, switch to rinse 1 min, then switch back to backwash, sometimes water turn yellowish, then i let it backwash awhile may b 2 min til clear again. then rinse. Rinsing usually few minutes only, then water is clear nt as dirty as backwash

Anyone here changed the sand of their outdoor water filter before?

Might plan to change mine as it costed me 1.8k 10 years back lol. Don't feel like changing the whole system as the stainless steel is still working fine.

Was quoted 500 bucks to change the whole sand filter.
*
may b can share some photo of ur filter, the rocket type? RM 500 is a little exp as for 10" diameter we usually charge RM 380

how to know which outdoor filter to use?
outside market have to many model.
example; 1000l/h , 2000l/h , 3000l/h ??
how to choose??
*
dont fully trust the spec as it also depends on your incoming water pressure. For example a grundfos pump cm3-5pm1 can pump 3000L per hour MAX. Main water supply usually is weaker than a water pump. May b u get 1.5 - 2k L/h. SO, if your incoming is 1500L/h but water filter indicate 3000L, u cant get 3000L. that is why i notice most sellers just cincai put a figure only

in general, if u wan higher flow get sand filter, if u wan cleaner water get membrane filter

manually fill up a bottle of water and check how many L per minute u get or buy a meter gauge to test pressure

As when there is a warranty claim, customers usually will contact me. So, from my experience more than 10 years selling both sand and membrane filters, sand filter is the most durable and least maintenance.

thanks for the feedback bro! now there are some sand filter using not sand at all, only zeolite 0.6-1mm (australia zeolite plus) r added to the filter, those type can really work well ? any good trusted brand recommend for 2020?
*
zeolite have been in market many years, mainly used by waterco, some OEM brands add in zeolite also nowadays. not a new tech.

micro z from perfect steel is finer than regular zeolite
Attached Image

sample of zeolite from waterco

"For many years the standard granular media used to reduce sediment were “multi media” combinations featuring such ingredients as garnet, anthracite, and sand. These mixed bed filters usually resulted in filtration down to 10 to 15 microns.

More recently, high purity zeolite has become the medium of choice for sediment filtration. Modern zeolite filters achieve a 5µ nominal rating, with a couple of brands claiming to be even tighter.
There are some 40 known types of natural zeolites. The most common is clinoptilolite.

Commercially, clinoptilolite is marketed for residential filtration under such brand names as ChemSorb, Micro Z, and Turbidex. It has a GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) classification and most brands have NSF Standard 61 certification to assure that they are adding nothing objectionable to the water."

*
perfect steel and alphamax under same manufacturer. Approximately 3-4kg

Will zeolite remove chlorine and cause tank to start grow bacteria?
*
from what i know it does not remove chlorine, the only effective media to filter chlorine is carbon

recently many forumers PM me asking the same question, is the perfect steel in shopee same as the 1 i m selling. i would say NO. this is why

If you guys read back all these years, many compared Perfect steel with Alphamax, yes they are the same as same manufacturer and both comes with micro Z media + locally made 304 grade body, super durable. While the 1 in shoppee u can c all the info copy paste only, a little from perfect steel, a little from waterco. then just stick a sticker on the filter, sell it at Perfect Steel price smile.gif

Perfect Steel is costly due to the heavy duty of the casing/housing, fittings and valve. How much can the sand cost, no matter Zeolite or MicroZ, wont cost rm 1k right, the expensive part not the media but the quality & durability

Advantages of MicroZ media also known as micro zeolite

Reduces backwash frequency
Removes finer particles
Provides better flow rates
Light weight, reduces backwash time

Comparison with a sample of a lower grade filter bought from another seller, not shopee or lazada

So those with activated carbon like Bacfree not recommended?

My water main pipe goes up straight to the water tank then from there it goes to all my indoor taps. Which kind of filter for the outdoor before it goes to the tank would you recommend? Membrane?
*
i usually recommend sand filter, less problem. If area with high chlorine or smell, a little carbon is OK, help to reduce not totally eliminate chlorine.

bacfree is good jus too bulky and exp

Hi zheilwane, I'm currently using membrane type outdoor filter. Last Saturday when water supply was back, my indoor water was yellowish, after sometime (1 to 2) hours later then only the water back to normal. Will sand filter has this kind of issue?
*
u need to backwash the filter after water rationing, as the water coming out after supply cut is usually super dirty. Same goes for sand filter

zheilwane can you provide your expertise in this?

Does UF membrane that filters up to 0.01 micron removes chlorine as well?
*
Nope, you need carbon to remove chlorine. Staying in landed or condo? or landed u need the chlorine as water will be stored in a tank. For condo u can filter chlorine as water direct enter in to bathroom and kitchen

Best outdoor filter to reduce chlorine more than 90% and more than 100 types of contaminants, Aquaphor Viking PRO latest 2023 model (recommended only for Condo)
