question about the timings,
which of the 4 (CAS, RAS to CAS, RAS, Tras) makes the biggest difference?
i remember for P4 last time the CAS doesnt matter much, RAS to CAS is most important followed by RAS

I also forgotten, but if i recalled correctly, CAS is the most important.

You can easily test it: Run Sisoftware Sandra memory benchtest (UN-buffered). Change one of the timing by '1' (either increasing or decreasing) and see the results. wink.gif

AFAIK in all modern systems it's like KilJim said. RAS to CAS followed by RAS precharge/delay. CAS delay is hardly a factor anymore.

on AMD64 3-4-4-x @ 600DDR beats 2-2-2-x @400DDR in general........i think 550DDR with 3-4-4-x either match 2-2-2-x@400ddr or beat it

IMO AMD's M2 will probably intro DDR2 with 4-4-4-x @ 800DDR speed, little point being slower than that unless tight timing can be achieve.....this may ensure a 5% performance increase........
