no relation at all.

ZF wants to concentrate on making conventional automatics and keep on pushing the cog war in automatic transmission because automatics are more popular in Europe, so ZF sell off all its research and patents in CVT to PUNCH. Punch further develop the ZF CVT and the result is VT2, VT3 and VT4. Just good business.

I have taken some time to make a Q&A out of the info from Autoworld regarding the Punch CVT. They are on the first page. I have rephrase certain sentences to "clean" up the answers but it should be 99% as the original. If there is any mistakes please let me know and i will correct it.

Regarding the GPS map, maybe White Lighter can put current version on FP for everyone reference. Mine is : Sd2-MC-Proton_MSB_D_2012 v4. Not sure if this is latest version, but maybe others can share theirs and then we can compare.
*
I wonder if Preve also using Lokatoo navigator?
If this map compatible with Preve?

QUOTE(dares @ May 12 2012, 03:59 PM)
Pumping above recommended pressure is dangerous leh. Tyre will bengkak easily, and may burst during highspeed.
What engine oil you use? How many items did they charge you for?
*

Sorry for the stupid question, but should we measure tyre pressure in cold or while the tyres are hot?

QUOTE(dares @ May 12 2012, 03:59 PM)
In all fairness, what multilink gains in stability and comfort, it loses in simplicity. You cant have it all. I do miss my Waja, especially when my saga rear wheels hops becuase it hit a bump while making a turn  shakehead.gif
EDIT: that said, i dont miss the time when I had to replace EVERY SINGLE ARM to hunt down a squeaking noise coming from the rear suspension.  doh.gif
*
Persona also using Multilink suspension right? If so, does that means I will get almost the same comfort and performance of a Persona?

QUOTE(ckk125 @ May 12 2012, 05:41 PM)
haha...brace yourselves, proton absorbers only costs ~RM150ea for front and RM100ea for rear.
no other car makers can give such price. hondas, mitsu and toyotas charge 3 times the amount.
fyi, the lancer's absorbers cost 5 times more than the inspira. proton high maintenance? one of the lowest actually. biggrin.gif
*
I am really surprised to see the price of Proton parts! shocking.gif
Because when I replace my brake pad from Proton Service Centre (for my Persona), they let me choose 2 quality, one is RM300 and another is RM400!!!
I just can't believe an absorber cost less than a brake pad?

Added on

Regarding Turbo...
When engine run below 2000rpm, where goes the generated pressure released to?
Or, the turbine simply never rotate or generate any air pressure?

My house is nearby that road. There isn't any Proton Edar nearby.

Unless you talking about Warna Bestari, near Tmn Song Choon.

The variable turbine turbo part is not relevant in the case of Preve. We dont have that feature...

OIC... so what does that means? (sorry, really noob here...) sweat.gif
When CFE engine runs at the speed lower than 2000rpm, the turbo unit still work, but does not contribute to the engine combustion?

Thanks for the video, very clear explanation on how it works! rclxms.gif

Sorry, wrong answer.basic law of physics. gas expand when heated, thus increase the tyre pressure.
Std tyre pressure is measured in cold condition, in early morning, before start ur journey.

Just what I needed to know. Thank you so much White Lighter.

Regarding this:
Avoid long slipping clutches by applying enough throttle when moving uphill to avoid overheating...

Does that mean when we are caught in a jam going up Cameroon highlands, we should not inch forward conventionally? I presume we should wait till the gap is at least 1.5 car then we step hard on the throttle to close in. Am I right?

If you wanna mod your preve, wait for the manual CFE variant or buy the IAFM manual variant. The CVT gearbox is already near its operational tolerance limit with the CFE.

yup, or you can find the throttle sweet spot aka, not too little nor too much throttle. Apply the throttle to that sweet spot then release handbrake. Thats how I inch forward in traffic jam to block those curi ayam drivers... tongue.gif
