warrior and guardian is cannon fodder for the defenders lol
*
guardians are really good if u are on the defensive side (mace + shield)...
it really help ur team a lot when u time all ur skills right...
i expect it more for premade setup...

personally i am enjoying ranger a lot but i jz hate the pet AI atm >.<
if the pet is fixed then i would love it considering i am a WL in WAR back then...
melee + pet is always awesome =)

i am pretty much bored of elementalist, mostly due to the lack of weapon swap...
reaching lvl 30, it do have some decent burst (scepter + dagger combo) and great utility...

no point to theory craft so fast...
the game IS IN ALPHA still...
u gonna see a lot of changes to the balance, stat etc...
in fact lots of changes are already on the way and dun be surprise to see tat in the next BWE...

ATM lots of stuffs are still placeholder (gems, runes etc)...
thus quite a waste of time atm to plan out ur builds...

once everything is confirmed then u can see theorycrafters doing hardcore number crunching (like EJ)...

Actually everyone is copying each other, it's more on how they implement it into their game, the player down system is from L4D, tho Anet added some twist to it in their version.

I don't play Eve, tho heard ppl say the gems system is somewhat from Eve, not sure on crafting system, seems generic like other MMO?
*
crafting system is a bit different due to the discovery and its a bit more complicated compared to most MMO...
the WvW is pretty much a concept used in DAoC (which is one of the best PvP games out there) but GW1 is always known as a PvP game so it is ok for me...

QUOTE(heaven @ May 5 2012, 11:00 AM)
In regards to crafting armour, is it auto soul bound? checked wiki, didn't find any or maybe I miss.

As in GW1, you craft via NPC only for your currently playing character.

btw GW2 Crafting.
*
nope not soul bound on creation...
u can see it or send it to ur other characters etc =)
i am 150 in 4 profession doing this lolx...
2 characters supporting each other profession...

Just a tip for rangers out there: -
1. setup a bow/ shortbow
2. 2nd weapon setup = MH + torch
3. use the torch's 5th skill to make fire around u
4. swap weapon to bow/ short bow and self combo flaming arrows down ur opponent

EZPZ =)

The world.

...and maybe occasionally some pvp on the sides. I need to play it casually though.
*
^ This...

I dunno bout u guys but did u guys explore the world fully?
There are caves behind waterfalls and vines...
There are hidden stuffs above the walls which can be gotten do by jumping on various platforms (and the same for all the other jumping puzzles out there)...
The world crafted by Anet is totally a beauty...
That moment when I met the Shatterer as he flies and land b4 all of us pew pew him using turrets etc was amazing...
There are also moments where I jz stopped moving and just look at the world around me taking screenshots (can't share those yet till they lift the NDA from me lolx)...

Not to mention friends...
The friends are what made MMOs fun...
The guild u are in (WoW or any other MMORPG) form a sense of belonging and attachment which keeps you playing and progress together as a core unit...
Unlike any other MMORPG as well, GW is tailored for eSport and the PvP, GvG and WvW aspect would be the time sucker...

And finally, new content...
Remember, the game is not like all those stupid grinding MMORPGs out there...
New contents are alway added, patches will come...
At the moment, only Zhaitan will be approachable and the rest of the elder dragons later on...

So far as I remember I only found one secret location... An underwater frog village cave near Viathan Lake... Some caves got skill challenge, and require a little of platforming to reach the spot don't know can call secret location or not =3
*
yeah it is counted...
i found a lot of cave...
if u are a char, go to the ascalon wall and start jumping up from the start of the wall, there is a skill point up there =)

We’ll be conducting a stress test on Monday May 14 from 11 AM to 6:00 PM PDT (-7 GMT).

This special test event is open only to Pre-Purchase customers who have registered their accounts. With your help, we can conduct important tests and address some of the issues we identified during our first Beta Weekend Event. During this event, all you need to do is play normally with a new or existing character on your Beta account using the same game client. Please note that since this is a stress test of our servers, you may experience some in-game performance issues. If you’ve pre-purchased Guild Wars 2 and wish to participate in the stress test, we recommend that you register the account and download the game client.

Pre-Purchase customers, log in to the Beta Forums for more information and/or to download the Beta client if needed.

yep, even tho you can set it to straight away cast, it'll still be cast at the cursor location... oh wait, doesnt that mean the gaming gamepad with programmable anolog stick can be used. well still cant beat keyboard + mouse i guess?
*
u cant do quick turns with ground casting combo...

turning wit controller is no difference with a keyboard turner which is an auto lose in PvP lolx

funny how ppl can say this game is worth it n all when its just beta...

dont get me wrong ..im not saying its not a good game..ive been playing mmo for a long time and GW spesifically since 2005.

the only thing bout ppl these days is they judge a game too fast..like D3..yes n no it sucks..but im still playing it cos there potential in that game..like every other game..there is a life cycle..and blizzard isnt stupid to design a game tat just takes >10 hours of gameplay.
*
when a beta (GW2 is actually in alpha stage btw which is why we get BWE instead of a real beta) plays better and is waaaay more polished than a game supposedly 12 years in development (6 if u leave out blizz north), you get the answer...
i played tonne of MMO and was one of the high end raider in WoW and i can tell u this game blows WoW out of the water...

eotn is not the end of GW1

the story continued with Titan quests, War in Kryta, hearts of the north ... then in the books, the Charr invade Ascalon, so King Adelbern uses Foefire to destroy the city and turn them into ghosts.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Foefire

Edge of Destiny talks about the fight against the Dragons champions.

Sea of Sorrows will elaborate on Zhaitan's awakening.

i love the whole ascalon part in GW2

Much of the gap between GW1 and GW2 comes from novels, its part of the business to expand the franchise.
Dude, Anet does not do long betas since the beginning of GW1, so this is still beta, not alpha.
*
based on the content so far, it is still alpha stage...
there is still so much more to the game besides the 30 levels u get to enjoy in BWE...
even the itemization and some skills have placeholders still...

this method of tracking not so accurate ar?...i wonder why they dont put the latency meter in the game again...just a dot with color and tooltip.
have u tried cross checking with d3? see if its the same there?
*
as mentioned, the game is still under development... they did address that such statistics are under their to-do list and would be implemented soon... for now that is not their current focus compared to putting in contents and fixing bugs etc i guess...

Ranger if you like faceroll mega-dps

Mesmer if you want to make nerds (like me) rage in front of their monitor
*
since when ranger face roll >.<

melee ranger depends on timing ur dodging/ evasion skills...
range ranger depends on kiting...
support ranger (spirit builds) requires movement and condition setups...

GW2 dun really have a faceroll profession...

if u go into instances, u will realize the boss fights isnt tank-spank like WoW...
its like a PvP with a boss requiring dodging etc since u dun have the holy-trinity basic...

and u cant faceroll in PvP >.<

thanks for the info  wink.gif
i think still ok, perhaps early game i can face roll, start from mid really need sharpen timing and dodge skill
my concern is i hv limited time to play, hope play a class i can walk and kill normal monsters faster
personally i play support in most of mmorpg, but progress really slow, so getting a dps class with decent party support sounds good to me =)
*
try elementalist...
really good and flexible since u lack playing time =)

Say that i can only have a limited time to try out the Beta Weekened, what race should i play to experience the best early bits in GW2? And what should i play? PvE? Personal Story? PvP?
*
1. any race u like as they are all unique... the most polished one would be human and char imho... but really up to ur preferences cause ur personal story etc depends on ur race...
2. for profession, same as above
3. PvE/ personal story (their interleave very well) up to lvl 15/20 (this is pretty fast) then go WvW and PvP (the 5v5 style one)...

any race/profession will do, but currently i've heard ranger and thief is kinda underpowered

you shd get to around lvl 15, shd give you ample time to explore the PvE content then join WvWvW

don't really need lvl 15, you can join at lvl 1 but you will need to learn all your weapon skills first...then just hop into WvWvW anytime you want...

if possible join some of the medium/high pop server so u can get more people to help you along in PvE and also you will stand a chance in WvWvW
*
nope they are not...
I mainly PvP wit my ranger and it is really good if u know how to setup ur skills with pet swaps...

as for thief, they are freaking good if played right and are flexible enuff depending on ur playstyle...
this was one of my guildmate's vid from last BWE: -

yeah well those two prof kinda need more experience in the class to fully enjoy it..as he said he has a very limited time to play and wanna get best experience so I advise to stay away from ranger and thief
*
of all the range class, ranger is the easiest with the pet for PvE imho... thief is really hard to pve without experience for sure lolx

Okay, i think i'll go with Char then. Kinda interested with playing as "cow man", instead of generic humans again.

Which is the most fun class to play at the moment? Thief? I am thinking of focusing on PvE and WvWvW. Ignoring Personal Story completely.
*
they are not cows (aka taurens)... they are lion/kitty humanoids =(

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Jul 18 2012, 05:46 PM)
The thing is, i actually dont really know how most classes work in GW2 as i am looking for a versatile class that is jack of all trades, master or none.

Time to google it i guess.
*
every class can do everything from range to melee to support to damage...
there is no holy trinity for gw2
