They say that Sunway is better when it comes to accounting and finance... can't be too sure, though.

Sunway is better for teaching and quality, however, they do not offer twinning programs and you'll most probably finish your studies in Malaysia. If i'm not mistaken, their degree is awarded by a British university.

People usually go to Taylor's for it's twinning programs, I'm not sure about the current quality but I'd advise you to go to Sunway if you want to do your degree in Malaysia.

Sunway is partnering with Lancaster University, UK.
And yes, you finish it in Malaysia but you can go to Lancaster for Summer Programme for 3 months.

Otherwise there's accounting degree offered in Sunway partnering with Victoria University smile.gif But I think the quality of this is lower than the Lancaster one.

Both are equally good, just depends on your budget, location and student culture. Sunway is well known for the ACCA as they are platinum status. Their ACCA is run separately in what is called Sunway TES, so, don't confuse between the Accounting & Finance and the ACCA at Sunway.

I believe both unis, you will get 9 paper exemptions from the ACCA. Currently, Sunway Uni undergoing renovations so may be a bit cramped compared to the Lake. smile.gif

The lecturers at both unis are pretty good. Students used to go to Taylors for twinning as they were a college but now that they are a university, you can complete the degree here in Malaysia with the same high standard of quality.

To better decide, you should visit both campuses, talk to their lecturers, and students.

I am not a student anymore, although I wish I was. I am working as an education consultant, helping students to find the right college. In choosing the institutions, there is no one best uni around and even if there is a best university, it may not suit you due to the college culture, size of college, facilities, sports facilities, fees, etc.

Having said that, I find that APIIT-UCTI, although well known for IT courses, has a unique Accounting & Finance degree that specialises in Forex & Investments, Taxation or Forensic Accounting. Upon completion, you will obtain 9 paper exemptions from ACCA as well. Seeing that there are so many accounting degree programmes out there as well as graduates, you need to differentiate yourself from the rest so I would actually recommend UCTI.

If you want more information or their brochures, you may email me at eduspiral@gmail.com Good luck icon_idea.gif

Hello. I am a former Taylor's University student. I left Taylor's to join Monash though.
The Accounting and Finance degree in Taylor's is a dual award programme which means you with get 2 certificates upon graduation, each from Taylors and UWE.
UWE - University of West England

The finance lecturer in Taylor's are pretty good but those that are teaching Accounting sucks.

In terms of recognition, of course monash will stand out against taylor's because we do not know the future of Malaysia's economy.

Taylor's lecturer are all master's holder but their quality of teaching is just so so.

So, it is better to pay that extra 8k to get a better certificate and quality of learning.

But, i heard my lecturer from Taylor's said : If you enroll in Monash, you have to be 5 times extra hardworking than the time you are in Taylor's

Guys, im just wondering, isit true dat even after one finishes all 14 papers of ACCA, one is not a chartered accountant yet, while you also must shit for ICAEW exams+ work xperience to officially admit yourself and call yourself a true blue CA.

So basically, Taylor's BAF programme is awarded by University of West England while Sunway's has a homegrown BAF programme that is validated by Lancaster university, meaning you will receive two degrees, one from Sunway and another from Lancaster. Sunway BAF programme is known to be able to get more exemptions for ICAEW/CIMA, and the university is well known for its accounting courses. Taylors IMO is okay, I do have friends studying in the UWE BAF programme but the reviews had not been entirely positive.

Under the directives of the Privy Council UK in 1996, all CCAB bodies (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW plus 3 others) are equal & granted the right to use the Chartered Accountant designation if they wish so.

It's different from the CA granted to all MIA members. All MIA members regardless which qualification you hold, are entitled to call themselves CA....even it's also given to the members of lowest standard body namely CPA (Aus).
