-voice recognition (make sure its powered by vlingo)
-voice recognition settings
( unchecked everything)
-text-to-speech settings

Above based on Galaxy S II - should be similar as now my phone with ICS roms - do not have such

Did you try as #1967 above

Don't use setcpu as these leaked kernels not suitable. Phone will face unstable issues such as auto restarts n auto shutdown
Infact don't use any apps that tweak kernel to avoid possible hard brick

Infact last 2 weeks too much talk about leak ics kernel is unsafe. So better don't temper with it further

And this this is to answer the frequent PM I always get asking which is the best ICS rom ? Actually, I cannot give any definite answer. But these are my impressions :

1. Touchwiz based ( with Samsung apps, SPen functionality ) : recommended is Alba V3 as it has no occasional freeze issues vs Midnote Team and Criskelo. Between Criskelo and Midnote, I would vote on Criskelo

2. Non Touchwiz based ( Aopk, aosp) : Stunner 1.4.19 is the most stable with virtually zero bugs but is not so smooth and slick as say Liquid, Cyanofree and Cyanogen9. You wish to have the most updated and you'd like to always have the most updated AOPK roms, go for Cyanogen9 or Cyanofree. Between the 3 Liquid. Cyanofree and Cyanogen 9 - most stable and less bugs is Liquidv1 follow by Cyanofree and Cyanogen9. Actually thyese 3 AOPK roms, perfromance more or less similar. However lately Cyanogen 9 build 3 n 4 I noted the data disconnected on 3G starts cropping up ocassionally

I never faced such call issues in all the custom GB and all the ICS roms I have tested
Stunner 1.4.26 I use it less than 2 days and reverted back to 1.4.19 due to better battery usage
And I only use LP5 kernels on all the ICS roms except Cyanogen9 ( default kernel)
You can try to flash again the kernel

Modem you test yourself as dependent on telco and your location. I am using LB2 now , previously was on LP6

Sygic works in all ics roms

Just use Titanium Backup to remove /freeze any apps you do not want. However do not remove core system apps such as contact, calendar. fresh install of any official rom will not remove these default apps as it will still comes with it
Your problem is unique - you do not solve it by changing roms ; minimum do a hard factory reset - if still recur sent in to service center to check first. If you do not wish to sent in, than reflash a stock official rom to test again

As for the issue of unsafe kernel - this arise because it seems few users hard brick their phones but the cases is rare due to flashing following the right steps but using a wrong kernel/modified kernel. The kernel developer has than come out with a warning that the present crop of ICS roms based on a unofficial i92220 Chinese leak and from which LP5/LP6 kernels were than develop was deemed unsafe. He said the % of hard bricking could be low, probably few % only and the chance one will brick could probably happen or not even happen after many flashing. So put it this way, he is throwing everybody an alert that it is safer not to flash using these leaked kernels BUT is safe to flash using his Entropy kernel which is only limited to Touchwiz based ICS roms. So guys , do your own assessment of the risks
As for me,. I am daily testing the various roms updates and with different kernel combos and seriously I am looking forward to have my NOTE hard brick to proof his claim that is unsafe
So simply for those who worry about this , DO NOT flash any ICS roms unless it is Cyanogen9 ( default deemed safe kernel) or TouchWiz based ( Alba, Criskelo, Midnote,Kingdroid ) but change it to Entropy kernel

Settings/About Phone/baseband version
Kernel is different different from modem - the kernel is independent of modem
You update your modem to LP6 by flashing LP6 modem ( download link at post#6) not by flashing LP6 kernel
Unzip the modem file - it it extracts to few folders such as metainf, modem bin, flash_image - than you flash this modem zip file from clockworkmod recovery. If after extract you see a zimage file - than you use mobile odin to flash it under modem

It is settings/developer option - tick USB debugging
When you connect you will see USB logo at taskbar - pull it down and select USB connection

Try another cable or another USB port
If still cannot, last resort factory reset : try again
If still cannot probably your USB connector is defective - sent in service center to check

I am using it since build 2 , now is build 6 already

I see you are using LP5 kernel
What rom are you on now ?

Auto shutdown when phone idle could be due to :

1. Kernel incompatible
2. Modem incompatible
3. Apps incompatiblity ( especially certain crack/pirated apps often cause such issues )

You have to do own test /experiment to identify source of problem. There is no one correct answer
However based on what I ahvce read at XDA of users experiences, it is unlikely LP5 kernel issue - kernel issue was a probable cause only on LP1 kernels, not on LP5 or even LP6 kernel
Changing modems help as my personal experience in using the earlier ICS roms ( based on LP1 ) shows that using LB2 eliminate such issues - before that I was using LP1 modem
Apps - you evaluate yourself what type of apps you have

I never want to use tablet mode - it is an eyesore. Don't understand why some users even bother to use tablet mode for a small display of 5.3 inch. And every day in every thread I see users complaining about bugs using tablet mode - I'd say if they want to use it , bear with the bugs as it is not meant to be used as a tablet. Look at Cyanogen thread and see how the developer respond to all queries about tablet mode
