I was at Setia Walk earlier to have a photo taken. A sign posted on the shutters of the Kenny Rogers shop says it was closed from 11 June until further notice.

Also, the crown will not last forever. The process of grinding away the diseased bits of the the tooth, the subsequent root canal treatment, and then the grinding away of the rest of the tooth to accommodate the crown will compromise the structural integrity of the tooth. It can get to the point where the crown might just break off from the tooth one day. There goes tooth, crown and all. Happened to me.

The problem is not with the crown, which can be pretty strong, depending on the material. The problem is with the tooth. It depends on the extent to which the hairline crack has comprised the structural integrity of the tooth. But you must also understand that when they do a root canal job, they drill away quite a bit of the tooth in addition to scraping away the nerve and sterilizing it before filling it. To fit the crown, they have drill off some more of the tooth. By the time they're done, you're left with a lot less tooth than you started off with! Added to this, once the nerve has been removed, the tooth is dead - there is no blood supply. Over time, it becomes brittle.
But there are people like ozak who've had crowns for years and not had any problems. I think you've got to discuss this with the dentist and see how strong your tooth is, or rather, how strong what's left of your tooth will be when they're done with it. The other thing with crowns is that if you want 'em strong, they will inevitably come with some metal core over which you have a white composite/porcelain/ceramic layer (or gold if you want something flamboyant |

QUOTE(wts6819 @ Jun 15 2012, 11:23 PM) Man, this is madness. Like this I want do dental business liao. Just get the tooth pulled and get a denture fitted on a partial plate. This is the cheapest and most conservative solution and one that is least destructive. To fit a bridge, the dentist will need to drill TWO of your teeth. In effect, you'll be getting two crowns with a false tooth in the middle. If one of the crowns fail, there goes your RM5000.btw, seem the only way i can do is brigde. Cannot afford even 10k leh. <5k ok la. Yeah, today haze condition really bad but my mood more haze than that. Implants are expensive partly because of the titanium alloy and partly because this is a surgical procedure. They're drilling into your jawbone and sticking this implant inside, and you pray that your jawbone won't reject the implant or that the bone won't crack. Scary. Some years ago, I think you could have got an implant done for RM4000 at UH. If the price is say RM60000 for 6 teeth, that'd be RM10000 a piece. You'd probably be able to get an implant done more cheaply in Poland or Slovakia. However, you'd probably need to stay there for six weeks or more, or go back two or three times. The expense will kill you. This post has been edited by PangurBan: Jun 15 2012, 11:39 PM |

QUOTE(wts6819 @ Jun 15 2012, 11:44 PM) Klinik Pergigian Dr. Ho Dan Rakan-Rakan. 17A, Jalan Kenari 1, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong, 47100. 03-5882-8228If she can't fit you in, try Kuan Dental Surgery: 2-1, Jln 24/70a, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan. Contact No: 03-23007 2252. She's one expensive lady though! You can also try: Yap Dental Specialist Clinic 38-2 Jalan PJS 8/2. Mentari Plaza, Bandar Sunway Tel: 56384348 He's probably just as expensive as Lily Kuan. If your tooth is just chipped, why not leave it until you've had time to consider your options? If it is just a chip and the root is intact, you can get a simple crown done, no need for a bridge. Once you've had the tooth pulled out, your only options are dentures, a bridge or an implant. Sibuk went to Setia Walk just now to jalan-jalan a bit. The place is essentially dead except for the pubs, which were heaving with people (who were there mostly for the football?). Wong Kok, Stabak, Share Tea, all deserted.

Ding Tea seems to be open at Setia Walk. Not sure what they sell there. More bubble tea? There's already one bubble tea outlet in Setia Walk.

Some really odd development going on at that end of puchong. Some expensive stuff like the thing on the hill overlooking saujana puchong, and then tower blocks of flats springing up in the midst of New Village type rumah papan, rumah lembu also got, and some expensive looking houses right behind Han Min. Looks like that end of Puchong is gradually 'gentrifying' and eventually squeezing out all the cheaper stuff.
