Posted on: May 21 2012, 08:15 PM I'm going to stop going to mamak places from now on. Here's why: I was at Mafana just now, had a serving of Briyani, a piece of chicken, and three different types of vegetables. The bill came up to RM13.80 which I thought a bit much so I queried this at the cashier and he mumbled something and beckoned the waiter over. The waiter said: "Briyani, one yegg, one chicken, one vegetable 9.50. You take 3 vegetable, one vegetable two ringgit. 15 ringgit." I said this was unacceptable or something to that effect. Then they wrote it out on a piece of paper. Plain briyani = RM5.50. Chicken RM4.50. 3 vegetable = RM6. Total = RM16. I protested that they'd now come up with three totally different bills for me to pay. So the cashier said ok ok you pay 13 ringgit. I refused to pay that amount, gave him RM12 and said that was all I was going to pay (actually I wonder now why I gave him so much, the most I've ever paid for briyani was RM11 at Hasbuna, which is far better than Mafana). Better stick to Chinese establishments from now on, and non-mamak banana-leaf joints. ********************* |

I very like Kok Siong's Nasi Kandar. Yes it's more expensive than a plate of chow kuey teow but it is really tasty.

Ya true, I remember it to be around rm5.50 for a piece of chicken with some pickled cucumbers. Now it's like 6 or 7.

Just to share something I encountered twice at mamat restaurants in puchong.
Let's say the food is rm12.50 and you pay the bill with a rm50 note. Some cashiers intentionally give you the change in two separate payments. He will give you the rm7.50 first then pause for a while waiting for your reaction. If you take the money and turn away then he will pocket the balance of rm30. If you still standing there for the balance, only then he give you the rm30 balance. I kena once, learned the lesson and prevented an unsuccessful second attempt to trick me at another mamat restaurant. This post has been edited by aeiou228: Oct 1 2012, 01:30 AM |

QUOTE(ronnie @ Oct 1 2012, 01:31 AM) First one kena cheated RM30 was at corner lot mamat just opposite Sutramas Apt. http://wikimapia.org/#lat=3.0422168&lon=10...=18&l=0&m=s&v=9 Second (failed attempt) was at Rishad, BK. You guys can test the mamat restaurant by giving RM50 for a RM1x bill. if the cashier split the change to two "installment", then the cashier is trying to play a trick on u. Try walk away a little after the first "installment" to see whether the cashier call you for the balance or not. |

Long -long time ago at5 Ramai food court, I also gave one of the foreign worker RM50 for a change of less than RM10.. She gave me bck only ~RM6 but forgotten about the balance RM40. When I approached the boss, He said he already given back to me or no evidence.. damn...I shouted at him and after a while, he decided to refund the RM40 reluctantly .. I stopped eating at that stall thereafter and also make sure I got the change within 2 min ..otherwise, kacau them man... Let's say the food is rm12.50 and you pay the bill with a rm50 note.
