Added on April 25, 2012, 1:44 pmYou can try ask lingloong for 160GB or 320GB HDD.. smile.gif

if i may add, a few seller seems to be offering i3 2120 @ same price as i3 2100, so imho, better opt for the i3 2120 for its 200MHz faster clock
i3 2100 = 3.1GHz
i3 2120 = 3.3GHz

and this is just my opinion, but even for surfing station, i think better get a 4GB ram instead of saving RM28 for a 2GB.

as for keyboard/mouse, i would suggest Microsoft Desktop 600 (~RM50) or Logitech Classic Desktop MK100 (~RM36).
BOTH model features spill-resistant keyboards thumbup.gif

and, dear TS, you might want to check this similar thread too for reference of suggested specs.
it just a few days old blush.gif

I saw that thread but I did not want to hijack his thread. For normal web surfing the Radeon ok but I would prefer Nvidia for gaming. 550 ok right?

550TI is good alternative for 6790, imo, seeing as it uses less power nod.gif and they're in the same-class performance, iirc (well, more or less tongue.gif)
And, less power usually means lower casing/rig temp. lower rig temp x 10 rigs = lower air-cond power consumption. every little bit helps in long term

I would go for Nvidia because I believe it offers better compatibility with older games. I had issues before using ATI card when playing games like Metal Gear Solid 2.

well, if you're going to be the one maintaining (are you not?) the systems, so lesser headache for you the better.

I already submit the proposed specs. Monitor will not be an issue as he already get a different brand. Hopefully the specs will last a good 4-5 years.

Well this is cybercafe so GPU lifespan can be stretched a bit longer by lowering resolution or reducing effects. But see la if business is good then may have money to invest with the upgrade.

i don't think all 20 can survive that long, tbh smile.gif. and PSU usually be the most to "went silent", motherboard follows, and hdd next doh.gif

Another question.

I need to set up a computer that holds the games content (game server I guess). So all client PC will be link to this game server. It will run Core i5, can handle about 20 PCs.

What Asus motherboard model would be good for this job?
*
from what i understand, not all game can be run from the server. based on info from previous thread, what's more important you will need is
-an array of RAID hdd setup in the server
-more than one server is recommended
-high quality network setup (gigabit switch, CAT6 wiring)

although to answer the question of which ASUS model, i'd say P8Z77-M will be good. since you might be needing the PCI-e for RAID card such as this

at least use a gigabit switch if you're planning on file sharing. iirc a 24-port gigabit D-link would cost around rm400. with a 100Mbps switch, the data transfer speed would only be around 11-15MB/s. but with a gigabit, you would easily get 50MB/s.

so 1GB file on 100Mbps = ~1 minutes 20 seconds
1GB on 1000Mbps = ~25 seconds
(i timed a file transfer on my own home network, so maybe a bit slower than expected)

btw, you dont need Xeon, but at least set-up a RAID with the onboard sata is recommended. the PCI-e card is just a possibilities that i mention to highlight the features/usage of P8Z77-M
