I'm helping out someone that needs to set up a cyber cafe soon (next month actually)

The idea is:

- There will be 20 PCs. 10 will be for normal web surfing use, other 10 will be for gaming.
- Gaming PC should be good enough to run current games (DOTA 2, Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2).
- Normal PC should be good enough to run facebook (and its games), youtube, Open Office.
- Will use something like iFriendster Cafe client.
- Will use hard disk.
- Monitor will be around 19 to 20 inch.
- May upgrade to Windows 8 in 2-3 years.

Anyone can give a proposal?

CPU
RAM
Motherboard
Graphic Card (if possible, reliable brand)
PSU
Keyboard & mouse brand

Hopefully will not be too expensive, and graphic cards that supports DX10 or above.

Budget?

Budget is the key, and for current games should change from (DOTA 2, Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2) to Diablo 3(soon), Battlefield and etc

Not sure the budget, but if possible I think the computer may use a Nvidia 550gt, and at least Core i3.

Thanks for the suggestion. Doubt I can find 160GB hdd nowadays.

if i may add, a few seller seems to be offering i3 2120 @ same price as i3 2100, so imho, better opt for the i3 2120 for its 200MHz faster clock
i3 2100 = 3.1GHz
i3 2120 = 3.3GHz

and this is just my opinion, but even for surfing station, i think better get a 4GB ram instead of saving RM28 for a 2GB.

as for keyboard/mouse, i would suggest Microsoft Desktop 600 (~RM50) or Logitech Classic Desktop MK100 (~RM36).

I saw that thread but I did not want to hijack his thread. For normal web surfing the Radeon ok but I would prefer Nvidia for gaming. 550 ok right?

Overall, the HD 6790 is a little faster though. But there's a seller here that is selling Palit GTX 550 Ti from as low as RM329, so you can definitely consider that.

550TI is good alternative for 6790, imo, seeing as it uses less power and they're in the same-class performance, iirc (well, more or less )
And, less power usually means lower casing/rig temp. lower rig temp x 10 rigs = lower air-cond power consumption. every little bit helps in long term

I would go for Nvidia because I believe it offers better compatibility with older games. I had issues before using ATI card when playing games like Metal Gear Solid 2.

well, if you're going to be the one maintaining (are you not?) the systems, so lesser headache for you the better.

Take the BenQ G2025HD 20" monitor instead, same price with the AOC E2050S but the benQ has DVI-D input

I already submit the proposed specs. Monitor will not be an issue as he already get a different brand. Hopefully the specs will last a good 4-5 years.

4-5 years.... IMHO better be prepared for an upgrade of the GPU in 3 years to come, dunno what are the requirements during that time

Well this is cybercafe so GPU lifespan can be stretched a bit longer by lowering resolution or reducing effects. But see la if business is good then may have money to invest with the upgrade.

i don't think all 20 can survive that long, tbh . and PSU usually be the most to "went silent", motherboard follows, and hdd next
