Drive within the Eco score zone . Maybe it is short distance ? My fc average is at the encore score trip b reset to 0 after refuel . Not the fc while driving that 1 I can get 25-28
*
It's possible due to the short distances, those kinda kill the fc, also the engine might've not warmed up proper for that duration possibly. I agree with the other guy though, seems kind of low, but I still think it's due to the short trips.

I've tested my GPS on few cars, some cars matched the GPS's speedometer & others (included 1 Vios) is plus minus 3km/h. Then I tested it on my Prius C & my friend's Prius 1.8, result for both speedometer is the same, exactly 7km/h faster than my GPS.. Which one is accurate; the GPS or both Prii...? Maybe they purposely made the setting lower than the actual speed to get better FC..?

QUOTE(GaretLim @ Jul 16 2012, 04:54 PM)
Ya someone pls do a research?
I to feel the pc speedometer is inaccurate as I the car is actually slower than meter.
Unless pc built is so pro that we feel slow but actually driving fast!  brows.gif
*
I agree, I think some research needs to be done to check the accuracy, I hope anyone with the means can help do it smile.gif

Thanx dear. I drove to office today and the ride was smooth and steady. Love it soooo much! One small problem
though I think i need to learn how to read the display on that dashboard.
*
Lol, there is much information in the many screens on the multi informational display (abbreviated as MID) it may feel overwhelming at first, but once you go through the manual and familiarize yourself with it you'll end up most probably only checking 2-3 screens the most but by that time you'll probably be really familiar with it you'll be able to flip through them all with no problems. I'm always on the ecoscore display lol, then sometimes when I'm stopped at a traffic light I sometimes toggle the display to Drive Info or just check my Trip A and Trip B values. I only ever look at the 5 minute consumption screen or past records before I get out of the car from a journey. The top 3 score can be addictive as you always want to beat it.

To update those that didn't know (and the new owners), you can toggle ODO/Trip A/Trip B for the "Drive Info", "Eco Score", "5 Min Consumption", "Past Records" (this one you can set to show personal best which shows top 3 scores or monthly average. When I last checked the car does indeed log the progression of both despite only being able to display only 1 of them at a time). When I say toggle, make sure you are only pressing the trip button and *not* holding it down as that will reset your Trip A/Trip B values (and we don't want this to happen if you're trying to keep track of a tank or journey hehe).

Btw
I dunno when to use ev mode. Till now found no suitable timing for ev. Feels like it is useless.
Eco and ev mode both are unused to me  shakehead.gif

And lemon. I use salamander 5mm tint with 90% irr. Cost me 1300. Good enough. Even 36 degree also don't feel hot. So I don't think need very branded one. Maybe cos of original glass already got uv protection thus the coolness is good if compare to my civic. Faint rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif damn hot
*
Ahh I get what you mean by EV mode - I hardly use it as well but there are applications of its usage just as conqu3ror mentioned but indeed it feels gimmicky. That is probably one of the least utilized functions in my car right now along with the heater (lol).

What is salamander tint btw? That was confusing when I saw you mention that earlier. It's actually called salamander?lol

Ok off topic but I'd like to bring the issue about autolock in here once again.

Ok so this is what they say apparently:
- they took it out for safety reasons
Ok fine. But then I thought, VPNS (vehicle proximity notification system) is a safety precaution, but they took that out too. Why would they take out something that contributes to safety? They took out autolock because they thought it was unsafe, so obviously something that adds to safety should be kept, shouldn't it?
It makes no sense at all... who knows, maybe they took vpns out whether it's safe or not just to cut costs.
Can someone who is going to their service soon can bring it up with the service center? Something is not adding up here and I want to know what Toyota has to say about it.

That said, there *are* pros to having no vpns hehehe. As you know the car is already quiet on EV, this just adds to that stealthiness by not emitting that vpns sound. Think of all the applications of having a silent escape car. Maybe assassins should get a prius c lmao. I would've loved a vpns sound hack so I could make my Prius C sound like a bigass car or something lol.

I wish we could opt for a car setting hack. Two hacks I would definitely want is option for enabling/disabling autolock and the missing extra MID information displays on the 6.1" screen. Too bad no diagnostic software for that hehe.

no DIY. installed at accessories shop. not sure thick or not but cannot put side by side as it will block and prevent the bumper being installed back properly.

Could you take a closer pic of the wiring? I want to see how they did it, thanks!

Sounds real hard, how much the installer charge you for that? Remove the whole bumper, have supervise closely to prevent scratches being done to our car paint.
*
It's pretty easy once you know which screws/bolts/grommets/etc to remove. Here's some diagrams to help with removal of the bumper if you ever choose to diy it.

@jonnyl:
As for car security, I'm a little iffy on it in general. There's even a keyless BMW being stolen recently but then again that is a BMW and this is a Prius C, don't know if there is a high demand for pc in black market lol. If there is a lock out there, be aware that there is a guy who knows how to unlock it. Then again you can always deter them by putting a ridiculous amount of things to unlock, or something that just mentally psyches them out. I guess for me immobilizer is enough, if someone really wanted to break into/steal it they (most probably) could, or they could just put the whole car on a lorry lol. In general it only stops low level thieves but it does provide us with peace of mind. If possible I selectively park whenever I can cos these low lifes even go as low as stealing your tire valve caps! For me the perfect security would be a badass dog living in my car lol. If they do break in though I rather they steal something inside the car than the car itself, cos I love this car smile.gif
Sorry for sounding negative overall but that was just my 2 cents. I don't have any plans to add anything on top unless it's really proven but I would probably think about installing some kind of car beacon locator in case the car did get stolen and I want to pay them a visit.

Was wondering on the below, anyone can enlighten?

1) Can the DVD AVN display Chinese Wording?
2) Anyone manage to get their Video Playing work while driving? How you did it? Heard 2 version of it, one is to "CUT" a wire that will detect movement. 2nd is applying new firmware to it.
3) Anyone manage to get a nice quality carpet cut? Was quoted RM 150 for a normal carpet even though we only have 3 pieces all together.

Thank you.

From the manual:
user posted image

Haven't thought of the override by messing with the wire on the parking brake or whatever needed to be done, but I am indeed considering some kind of bypass but I would like an extremely hassle free approach to it so I would probably choose the firmware route.
I'm still thinking about what carpets to get, I'm very finnicky about that and I want something easy to clean but traps dirt well, and also of course does not get in the way of the pedals. In the end I may just custom make it myself. What I really wanted is those carpet trays.

Ok, question for you guys. When are you filling up your fuel? At the indication of the first beep or what? I notice in my past fuel-ups that I was filling up the tank at 31-32L immediately after the first beep (give or take 200m at least). I'm guessing at any minimum there is *at least* 3L-/+ to use and your reach is slightly lengthened via smart EV usage. Now depending on how heavy your feet are, you can basically still get 3*16(km/L) = 48km
I'm sure it can reach near 80-90 depending on the road etc but there's no way I'd do that unless in an emergency situation hehe, but I did engage the trip B to track and I can safely say 8-10km is nothing to worry about, maybe I'll see if I can do another 10km more but I really don't like to run a car near empty. I am curious however of far it's real reach at that last blinking fuel bar is. If it can do about 80km++ max that is kind of cool. There's no way I won't be able to find a gas station by then hahaha.

I calculated one bar is about 4L, if the FC is 20KM/L, it means you can drive up to 80KM further. I actually tested it when the beep sound alerts me, I continues drove it for another 60KM without refuelling.
*
Yeah, definitely. Even the bare minimum you should be able to get 40km++. I wanted to give it a try today but then I got lazy and just filled up.
Here's my fillup:
32.26L @ $1.90 = $61.29
I would've been able to still go quite a distance with 3.74L left. I'm definitely not worried now if I ever do long distance drives with this car smile.gif.
The more I use this car the more I love it, I know it sounds disgustingly biased since I own the car but really, it *IS* a great car. I just wish more people would give it the time of day and learn to use it appropriately to get the most out of it, then they too would be smiling on the inside. It felt really weird not having to refuel my car for like 3 weeks.

Is it possible to open the door from outside when the driver inside the PC have lock it from the inside?
*
I don't think it would be possible unless that person on the outside had the spare key fob, unless I misunderstood your question. Do you mean:
1) key and driver are both inside
2) driver locks door from inside
3) someone from the outside tries to unlock the door (using another spare key fob or what? or just trying to unlock by holding the handle?)

Is anyone missing any caps that hold the carpet material on the back trunk door? I just looked at mine and I'm missing one doh.gif
In any case it isn't doing much harm, I just hate visually looking at a missing piece... and if I am up to it I will probably go so far as making an epoxy mold out of one of the caps heh.

i suspect the missing thing is caused by the kastum inspection.
Ahh, now I better go check the battery cover on mine lol

Driver and key in car, just want to know car jackers able to open from outside after I have lock the doors from inside.
I'm sure it cannot be opened from outside, otherwise they have failed to think that one through. I mean they've even thought about not accidentally locking the key inside as well. If you have the key inside you cannot lock the doors from the outside. If you lock the door from the inside and someone can open it from outside I think they have failed in the lock design hehe.

If you can rule out your driving style (and your mileage is reeeeaally super duper crap after a few tanks) then the last thing you can check with is your ECU, you may need to change it. That is just the last thing to consider though. There are some tips here.

Yeah, that's why it's advisable to drive as normal with other cars on the road - when they are really far off or no traffic then people can go crazy with their hypermiling techniques

Just received call from my SC. I can only get my C in early Sep (last month said Aug). I booked silver colour early April. 5 months for a silver C. I suspect my SC allowed others to jump queue. Can I report this as corruption ah?

If you ever decide to stick with this SC, give him poor marks tongue.gif
