Concept is the similiar but I haven't play both games so I don't know about the gameplay. One thing I'm sure is both games do not have exploration quests to search for ancient artifacts or endangered species

I played all the uncharted waters series except the first.
production chains, online version has that smile.gif

When you talked about the strength of a country, its usually refers to its economic strength & geographical advantage. So here I'll break down each country's economic advantage.

Portugal
-Powerful fragrance & spice trade route because the Portuguese Empire has already established an administrative port in Goa, India which can't be taken over by other countries.
-If Diu, India is colonized by the Portuguese, it will be a very profitable velvet textile production port (less tax & can purchase more materials). Last time I made about 20 million, 2 hours daily under controlled market condition.
-Gold & gemstone trade is also a viable route

Spain
-Barcelona, Valencia, Parma weaponry trade routes
-Gold!
-Genoa, Calvino arts trade routes
-Caribbean trade mainly on manao, metal & dye goods
-Textile production/trade

England
-Gemstone trades. Most ports in north Europe has the offers highest prices
-Grand Cayman trade in Caribbean sea, clash in Spanish territory
-Dover-London trade routes
-Copenhagen-Lubeck precious metal trades
-Gold, Hamburg offers the highest gold prices of all ports
-Textile production/trade

Holland (almost similiar to England)
-Gemstone trades. Highly valuable goods in North Europe, so England is basically Holland's natural enemy at economic scale. Easier to train gemstone trade skills though
-Amsterdam-Gerderland trade routes
-Copenhagen-Lubeck precious metal trades, another fight with the England
-Gold, maritine war or investment war with England for Hamburg
-Textile production/trade

Venice
-Venice trade routes
-Genoa arts/dye trade routes, clash with Spain/France
-Gold, Napoli. The shorter route to sell gold over there & immune to oversupply of gold but prolly have to fight with Spain
-Gemstone trade, get gemstones from Sri Langka/Calicut

France (weakest country in economy, but they have the royal navy ship which is best for PK/pirate)
-Genoa arts trade routes
-Gold, similiar to Spain
-Red Sea
-Textile trades

sorry I never use Venice and France tongue.gif
Any questions? smile.gif

Yes you can change nationality at any time but it will deduct a lot of fame.
Yes you still can choose any trade route you like with any nationality, they are basic guidelines that has higher market potential and the advantage is almost subtle until you understand most of the game mechanics. It all depends on market potentiality, who owns the ports to avoid higher tax & geographical distance.

Greek ship is available since open beta phase & the Japanese ship is available in the 3rd El Oriente expansion. I think english server starts from the 2nd expansion so we have to wait

I don't know the tekkousen ship exists in UWO but AFAIK the best for naval warfare in terms of close combat with high amount of cannons is the France royal galley. Oh you can customize ships vessel anytime but you can build ship with your own materials with the ship building skill. This reduce cost of ship as much as 40% depending on the wood quality & the ship stats are a lot better than stock build.

France royal galley

Naval War for Bremen (Venice allied with England & Ottoman empire vs. Holland allied with Portugal)

too many things going on in war so its really difficult for me to explain

yeah, each player = 1 ship & no NPC ship follows you unlike the offline version.

PvP system has a few modes
BC battle - like pvp room
pirate - pirate human ships at dangerous sea zone
huge naval war - country vs country war
land pvp - not sure never tried, 3rd expansion has deck battle

nah, its called global for a reason. IP block usually happens because of the region restriction clause in the license agreement. And there will be an update on that website (hopefully CBT date announcement) at 3pm today so stay tuned.

So I came thinking to tell you guys that it is opened and lo and behold you guys are more up to date biggrin.gif

I just signed up, user ID is Shadowfang. Are we all going to be Spain? hahah
*
I'm definitely choosing Spain but we still can be in the same guild even though you're from Portugal. Different countries make certain method of trade easier.

So is this free to play then as they advertised or is there some monthly charges? How does it work previously for the Chinese version?
*
no monthly charges, they will have a cash shop instead for their revenue stream just like the other region like Taiwan & China.

Cash shop just to change nick, clear PK fame, faster speed for ships etc. No obvious game balance issues involved. Not much complains in TW forum when they switched to F2P too since we're used to the vanilla method so its ok.

among the items that sells in cash shop:-
Sea god's amulet (Enables 50% extra experience)
Thunder god's amulet (Enables 50% extra Skill Proficiency)
Wind god's amulet (Enables increase in speed by 50%)
Flame god's amulet (Enables increase in acquired Fame by 50%)
these items have few days usage duration so yeah...

So who is playing on the 25th? its 3pm GMT +9 it means its 2pm for Malaysian time isnt it?

I dont even know what I need to do before start playing, I assume I will need to download the game first and install
*
Me! I got to do a little census on nationality.
GMT +9 is an hour ahead of our time so you're right & this global server is actually located in South Korea so the latency is going to be wonderful smile.gif

I assume that is a sarcastic comment and that means its going to be massive lag? Is my 1Mbps streamyx package will be good enough? I am even using wireless for my desktop in the room so it will be even a bit slower ~ 80-85%
*
Nah, should be ok. 250ms average is still acceptable. Probably just a second delay at most
You better ping your wireless router to see the consistency and overhead lag between your desktop pc & the router.

Start as an adventurer learner then immediately convert to a trader when you get the trader license in school. This game is very skill oriented & money is very important so it really depends which sets of trade skills you want to train, all of them are useful early on except Medicine Trader.

I meant all beginner trade jobs, once you earned enough money you can go choose your favourite path e.g. any adventurer/battle class type. Like I said before, this game is skill oriented & the idea of job class is it allows you to acquire skills bypassing the skill requirement & halve skill experience to next rank, so it depends what skill sets you want to learn but I recommend you to learn at least 2 production skills. Storage is a must, the rest is up to you (Alchemy is S class in difficulty, unless you're a billionaire). If you have friends playing, its better to diversify the skill sets during the early game.

p/s: I just noticed medicine trader has a useful skill called handicraft so don't ignore that.
