Running at default speed and cooled by tec block?
The temperature seems pretty high.

QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ Apr 21 2012, 09:27 AM) Added on April 21, 2012, 9:30 amNoticed that CPU-Z shows 1.2V but mobo shows 1.44V? Something is just wrong and a bios update must be coming Newer version CPU-Z might be able to pick up the right voltage. |

QUOTE(owikh84 @ May 2 2012, 05:48 PM) From various sources i observed Intel has probably fine-tuned the HT in IB. 3770K vs 3570K Generally at the same clock 3770K needs vcore 0.1v less than 3570K Somemore 3770K comes with HT. Eg: 3570K @ 4.5GHz 4C/4T needs 1.3v 3770K @ 4.5GHz 4C/8T needs just 1.2V Now i only dont know at this clock which one generates less heat? Theorethically HT is hotter. It runs at lower voltage with HT on. Added on May 3, 2012, 9:48 am QUOTE(kelvin_hata @ May 2 2012, 09:39 PM) actually it report @ 100'c++ and i didt feel the heat at all That is a good voltage at 4.5GHz.owikh:- 100x45 @ 1.135v » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by ALeUNe: May 3 2012, 09:48 AM |

May I know what is the maximum BCLK you can hit on IB?

I'm gonna get an i5-3570K for my HTPC.
I need to get mATX. I'll only get the budget Z77 board, meaning in the range of MYR310-350. With that, I have only 2 options, either Asus A8Z77M or Gigabyte Z77M-D3H. Which is a better board in terms of overclocking? |

QUOTE(dma0991 @ May 12 2012, 01:01 AM) Neither, mATX isn't suitable for overclocking unless you're paying for a ROG board. But if you're going for a mild OC, I'll choose the Asus. I have to use mATX because my HTPC system is using Lian Li PC-V350. I owned wide range of motherboards, from premium to budget mobo. I never had problem to overclock with mATX. I managed to achieve the same overclocked result with budget mobo (i.e 4.4-4.6GHz with Nahalem and Sandy Bridge). I just wonder how is the "overclockability" for current Z77 mobo, particularly Asus and Gigabyte. I heard Asus has slow boot up (it takes a long time to detect hardware at bios boot up). So Asus users, do you encounter slow boot up with your Z77 mobo? This post has been edited by ALeUNe: May 12 2012, 02:09 AM |

Just bought an i5-3570K.
However, I couldn't find Asus P8Z77M at any PC ship in Danga City mall @ JB. I bought a Gigabyte Z77M-DSH instead. It is the only mATX Z77 mobo I could find at Danga City Mall. Will assemble it tomorrow and find out how it fares then. |

I could only hit 4.3GHz @ default voltage with my i5-3570K / Gigabyte Z77M-D3H.
Idle temperature @ 40-40c. Load temperature @ 70-75c. Closing casing @ Lian Li PC-V350. The cooler is Corsair H50. Can't push higher because this stupid mobo does not have vcore control. (I think the new bios update can rectify this). |

QUOTE(stasio @ May 15 2012, 12:12 AM) Yes, I saw Gigabyte posted F7 bios on their website last night. However it was not available to download. It seems they fixed the link this morning. Thanks for the link. I didn't read the manual. And I hope the next bios will fix this (like what they did on the x58 mobo). I'll run it at default voltage in long run anyway since it is for my HTPC. Without the vcore, I just couldn't tell how far the chip can go. Added on May 15, 2012, 9:25 am QUOTE(owikh84 @ May 15 2012, 12:22 AM) Yes, this is not the right one for OC. I'll dump it if I can't stand the itchiness for OC. This post has been edited by ALeUNe: May 15 2012, 09:25 AM |

QUOTE(stasio @ May 15 2012, 12:34 PM) For Gigabyte Z77M(H) series and I beleive also Asus (and others low cost boards),no Vcore are implement in BIOS. For H77 series, yes, I can understand it doesn't need vcore. However, I can do modified BIOS from Z77-D3H, (which have Vcore in BIOS) to flash your Z77M-D3H. Atm,I running BIOS for UD3H on my mobo D3H. But it's a bit no brainer to leave out vcore option in Z77 mobo. I would be grateful if you could make me one customized bios. |

Let me know (supose to have Vcore in BIOS). Leaving office now. I'll flash it once I reach home. Many many thanks. |

QUOTE(stasio @ May 15 2012, 01:04 PM) Nope bro (hope is OK). The bios is successfully flashed. It's detected as Z77-D3H. (Be carefull with Vcore !! ,he,he) Also, I can do this also for Asus low cost boards (or any). Tried also BIOS for UD5H on my D3H (but must disable one Lan in BIOS). However the setting is not running in actual. I set 1.3v in bios and load with OCCT but the CPU-Z still show default vcore. Could your mobo run in different core voltage with the modified bios? Any idea? This post has been edited by ALeUNe: May 15 2012, 04:10 PM |

QUOTE(stasio @ May 15 2012, 04:14 PM) What ver.CPU-Z you have? Yes, I loaded the default value after flashing. Try ET6 and what is in BIOS ("MIT" and "PC Healt Status")?. Did you "Load Optimized Defaults" after flashing? My Vcore is OK with any modded BIOS. The ET6 reported the same value as shown in CPU-Z. By the way, you add the voltage at vcore or dynamic vcore? QUOTE(stasio @ May 15 2012, 05:01 PM) Voltage for Vcore.I didn't play with DVID. Yes, I think it is the hardware limitation. Can you check in BIOS "MIT" and "PC Healt Status". I think that mobo itself (hardware) don't have posibility to increase Vcore (GIGABYTE All Digital Power Engine). Last, you can try to increase Vcore with ET6 or GIGABYTE TweakLauncher (but I doubt). I tried both vcore and DVID and it doesn't change the real voltage value. I'm stuck at 4.3GHz then. P/S By the way, just for your info, my PCIE1x slot is not usable with the modded bios. QUOTE(stasio @ May 15 2012, 05:19 PM) Yes, it seems Z77M-DSH doesn't have "Gigabyte 3D Power". Bad Gigabyte. I find "Intel system" is cracking down "overclocking at budget category". My office PC, Nehalem/i3-540@4.6GHz is running well with Gigabyte H55M-SV. Intel started "K" in Sandy Bridge. Now with IB, the Z77 budget mATX looks like a joke now.
