this is the first time samsung making their own processor using their own fabrication process, hence u see 32nm. before this all is done by TSMC, and the well known problems are yielding issues.

so lets not put too high hopes first, it might turn out to be a success, or a disappointment
*
No its not. They have built Exynos for years. It is just that they source other SoC for their phones as well.

S AMOLED+ would save more batt if many blacks are involved, since they have the ability to shut down the pixel to produce true blacks, and save power at the same time

BUT they will consume more energy as well if many WHITES are involved
SLCD 2 is in the middle ground, the blacks are not far behind the amoleds, and they're less energy consuming when it comes to whites. the colours produced are more neutral and not too vibrant and saturated
*
Hi bro. Do you know which model of Samsung Galaxy use this SLCD 2 display?

He's talking about his beloved HOX screen. Typical HTC fans. Always looks down in whatever Samsung use or produce.
Don't believe me..? Go read their official thread. Be it on HOX, Sensation or Desire, all the same. Try read Galaxy S2 thread you'll hardly notice any talk about HTC phone because for us it didn't belong inside our thread.
Oppss..sorry TS. Morning rumbling :-P
*
I see. Thanks for the info bro. I thought he was talking about Samsung model that come with the aforementioned screen.

Same la u passionate about football. They passionate about S3. Its quite normal.
*
It is just sad that they decided to use Exynos4 Quad-Core instead of Exynos5 Dual-Core.

they probably would use SAMOLED+. its their flagship, no reason for them to exclude it
*
The reason they do not use SAMOLED+ for note (can be considered flagship level) is because at that time they still have no technology for mass production for PPI that high. Hope now they have already.

but their quad core is still ahead of current quad cores available. like tegra 3 which is still 40nm
however snapdragon s4 quad is 28nm, will be released later this year as well, 2.5ghz maximum clock speed  shocking.gif
*
If you ask me. S4 Dual-Core is good enough for a phone. The same goes to Exynos 5 Dual-Core.

I don't want to be caught in a situation where a few months after S3 got launched another phone come up with Exynos 5 Dual-Core.

FYI, Exynos 5 Dual-Core is in volume production as we speak.

Next Year Q1 tegra 4 already has a Quad A15 + 1. I wonder when samsung gonna implant this beast, next TaB???
*
Exynos 5 will be on the market well before Tegra 4 did.

they reserved their exynos 5 for tablets for now
if they put it in s3 its gonna wipe all the competition
*
I agree about reserved for tablet because that was what they said in the press release. But I just wonder since HTC can put S4 Dual-Core in a phone, why can't samsung do the same. I'm pretty sure that wiping the floor is not the main reason.

Latest rumours said S3 will come with

Exynos 4212
Quad-core 1.4 GHz

GPU:Mali-400MP
*
The old name was Exynos 4412. Note the "44" instead of "42"

While the new name is just Exynos 4 Quad

but early leaked benchmark still show that it smoked tegra 3 just with some overclocking, speaking bout disappointment tongue.gif
*
I never compare with Tegra 3 as the flagship are moving towards 28/32nm manufacturing process with A-15 class core. Yes some still use Tegra 3 as their flagship model but since earlier I was talking about S4 and Exynos 5, it should meant that I am more focus on A-15 class core.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ May 3 2012, 03:30 PM)
samsung wouldn't use other SoC for their flagships. different case for the earlier tegra 2 s2 and the s2 g version
speaking bout that, is there any samsung phone with snapdragon before? i remember got for tegra 2 and TI OMAP but not snapdragon
*
Bro, you got it all mixed up. What I meant is that if HTC can put S4 (Widely regarded as A-15 class), what can't Samsung (using their own Exynos 5 Dual or what ever 3rd party they like).

probably the hype in the public.....u know. the majority will look at the number of cores instead of the architecture itself.
*
Actually I have consider that to be one of the probable reason. But still, for people like us who actually care what core they use, it is a bit sad to know that they only go for Exynox 4 Quad which is still based on A9.

after 1 yr still use mali 400mp. smoke tegra 3 those benchmark can be trusted anot??

if sell more than 2k.. really need consider abit.. but with my current hp frequently auto shut down i got no choice but 2 choose s3 cos the battery is removable.. if 2299 i will buy.. if 2099 or 2199 really need 2 hmm.gif
*
That is the reason why quite a few people who care, did ask the rational not to use Exynos 5 Dual that come with newer generation of GPU.

benchmark junkies....
*
Not necessarily, so people just like the feel to know that they bought a new generation SoC (e.g A15 based) instead of out going one (e.g A9 based). So that when the need arise, they know the SoC can get the job done, fast.

marketing gimmick I think. since one x is using quad core, and if s3 is using dual core, it would give a impression to the customers that one x is better(since it has more cores, but of course its not the case here, but not everyone knows that)
*
Yeah you may be right, as I post earlier. That is one of the probable reason that I can think of.

should be still mali 400, but 50% faster @@

I thought that was for Exynos 4 Dual 32nm. Because they increase the GPU clock by 50%. Correct me if I am wrong.
