There are only a few 14" ultrabooks:

Acer
[Ultrabook] M5-481TG-53316G12, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT640M LE (28nm Kepler) + 128GB SSD@RM2899, 6GB, W7HP

Dell
[Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i7-3517U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2899[1.87kg], 8GB, 500GB(5400rpm) *no VGA port

HP
[Ultrabook] Envy4-1043TX/1053TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD7670M + 32GB SSD + 500GB HDD(5400rpm)@RM2599[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, W7HP

The Acer M5 is able to play games although it is listed as an ultrabook sweat.gif
The others are more or less the same with the Lenovo U410.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Any.

Hi guys, I'm interested in buying a laptop as mine broke last month. sad.gif But I'm not in a rush, plan to save up till early next year or so (since my workstation has its own pc!) before I go back to uni.

I heard lately that windows 8 is coming out, and they have this cool touchscreen function or something. If that's so, should I wait for new versions of laptops that are compatible with w8? And what are the laptops I should be looking at?

Thanks so much smile.gif

If you're not in a hurry, then wait for new laptops to come.
Since you're waiting till next year, there are definitely going to be better new laptops releasing. Hopefully with W8 as well biggrin.gif

I am not sure of the price of 2nd hand laptops so I can only recommend you new laptops tongue.gif

For 14":

For 14" laptops with that budget, I can only recommend these:

Dell
Alienware M14x R2, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M (1GB) + (1600x900)@RM4899[Klipsch], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); [CPU Options: i7-3610QM - i7-3820QM]
Alienware M14x R2, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M (2GB) + (1600x900)@RM5299[Klipsch], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); [CPU Options: i7-3610QM - i7-3820QM]

Personally I don't think its worth it as there are better 15" laptops if you are willing to look past 14" tongue.gif
Some other cheaper alternative 14" (weaker GPU):

Dell
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2799[2.38kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Lenovo
Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M@2499[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard optional

Acer
[Ultrabook] M5-481TG-53316G12, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT640M LE (28nm Kepler) + 128GB SSD@RM2899, 6GB, W7HP
