No, ask your wife don't do that. The food in the fridge is more expensive than the savings on the electricity.

Put some water to make your fridge will up.

Don't power it off, because when you switch it on again it will run longer. Unless you talking about switching it off for 1 week, by then you food already rotten.

not sure how much can you save on that/ but saving rm20 mean you must have a very very big ref, if assuming getting medium large ref 510liter capacity that consume 675kw power per year is about 56kw per month that translate to rm22.5(X0.40c) if smaller ref or inverter ref would even cost less than that per month.
i took sharp sjpt-66rhs size/power label***

ts how big is your ref?

Sorry TS, tumpang thread..

Just brought Hitachi Fridge model, R-z490EM-1 and from the first day after waiting 2 hours before open switch as advise by the delivery guys, my fridge has a strange sounds, eeeeeeeeeeeeeee until today already 2 weeks.

My Fridge is build with cabinet ontop and cover on left and right. I did call the Hitachi service guy on the 2nd day but the tell me it's normal and because i just move in and it's empty that is why the sound are more noticeable.

The eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sound will continue everyday and have a few time that the sound stop but not for long maybe around half an hour I'm not too sure but the guy told me it's the motor sound, and when it's cold enough it will stop to save energy then continue back that is why the sound have a full stop certain times during the days.

My concern is even my old house LG and Pana dont have this sound, I call my mum to check and she said no sound at all... guys please help to clarify if this is normal or I've been con ?

1) what the temp you set on you fridge
2) normally the fridge will not use too much of current except keep Open the door which cause the cool air leak out. SImilar like aircon lol

How much the fridge costing you per month? Perhaps reduce use of aircon two hour a day will save the cost of fridge already smile.gif

If you have meat in the freezer, you risk deteriorates the meat even is not fully unfrozen, but due to the temperate rise some bacteria start working.

you see, fridge is using compressor to keep the temperature (just like air cond), say if u set it to 16 degree, compressor hv some + -, if the temp increase to 18 or something, then compressor only start working to keep low temp back to 15, when reach 15, the compressor is stop until next time is reach 18. and, the fridge light is only on when u open your fridge, so in the time of compressor is not working, that is almost no current is using, that already saving your money already.

But, if u turn it off, and when u back, the temp may be already over 24 or and is take very long to low down the temp back to 15. that cost you more power for sure. By save your money, actually still another thing can do, since u dont hv much thing in fridge, keep the temp bit higher then middle, that will save your compressor power.

Not worth the trouble....don't turn your fridge off unless you don't want to use the fridge. Even go balik kampung people don't usually turn their fridge off. Fridge are meant to be turned on at all time...

Never heard of ppl turn off the fridge for half day and think it saves you electricity.

A better practice is DO NOT OPEN THE FRIDGE DOORS UNNECESSARY, DO NOT OPEN THE FRIDGE DOORS LONGER THAN YOU NEED, DO NOT OPEN THE FRIDGE DOOR WIDE OPEN THAN NECESSARY, THINK FIRST WHAT YOU WANT TO TAKE FROM THE FRIDGE BEFORE OPEN THE DOORS, GET READY TO PUT IN ALL THE THINGS YOU WANT TO PUT IN THE FRIDGE AT ONCE, will save you electricity.

All fridge got some sound except if it is loud or soft. The bigger the fridge the noisier it is. So dont be too proud that you have big fridge hahahahaha... biggrin.gif

Buying big fridge is to test it before delivery. make sure the place is quiet. Test two units at the same time. Once delievred the usual answer is it is NORMAL. of course it is normal if it got no sound it is abnormal. Same goes for aircond but you cannot test. So better check here in this forum or ask before going for the model you intent to buy.
