the best is always Iceman 10.

Yeap how on earth that was better than Bergkamp's goal is beyond me. Gah voting in footie is always bollocks anyways. It was obvious Rooney is going to win the poll since out of those 300,000 plus voters 299,999 of them are probably Man Utd fans themselves. If Heskey was a Man Utd player one of his tap ins might have won the greatest goal poll as well.

imo , henry goal vs man u . nuff said.
*
To be fair we have seen players replicate Henry's volley, maybe not the flight of the ball but the way the ball was hit.

Adebayor vs Spurs was one recent one I can think of.

Bicycle kicks are scored in almost every league which includes the BPL in almost every other year. Heck even Vela scored one against Malaga not too long ago.

Bergkamp's on the other hand, I have never seen anyone do what he has done in the BPL since 1997 (when I first supported Arsenal) till this very day. Not that I can recall at least.

maybe this ranking is about how you score the goal, not dribbling skills
haha

This ranking is about how many fans your club has.

QUOTE(liez @ May 4 2012, 01:45 PM)
all the goals said are equally hard to score.

Rooney's ones needs perfect timing, exact body positioning and strength to kick in, with some luck.

iceman's needs intelligent, wits and accurate prediction with some techniques.

Henry's simply have to be good, accurate, strength and lots of confidence with some luck.

Matt le Tissier against newcastle needs technique, pace and confidence. (quite normal to me, so don't know why got recommended into 20 seasons award)

Matt le Tissier against against balckburn needs accuracy and strong legs. (quite normal out of box goal too)

Tony yeboah against liverpool seems to be just a lucky flip goal. but guess there is a curve like cisse's goal and went nicely curvey into liverpool's net. some techniques needed and have to be fast given that situation.

Beckham vs wimbledon is.... sigh... super long range goal. need strong legs, accuracy and luck + non-excellent keeper.

cantona against sunderland's another curvey goal but he executed it while dribbling the ball... needs to be fast, technical and thinks fast to do that.

paolo di canio against wimbledon is just like van persie's 2nd goal against liverpool... accuracy, right timing and some luck.

shearer vs everton another out of box screamer.

Its true it can be said that all listed are truly great great goals. But the thing here is, have you seen anyone score a goal similar to that goal by Dennis? Heck you can't even do that move on FIFA or PES laugh.gif

I've been watching football and supporting the Arsenal since 1997, the Premier League to be more precise, I know 15 years to some may not be long as compared to some of the veterans here but even in that short 15 years I've seen countless volleys, bicycle kicks, screamers, solo goals you name it but none like what Dennis did.

I admit I don't watch every match and every goal in that 15 years but if there was anything similar it would've been replayed countless times and be in every greatest PL goals list till this day for me to know it.

LOL. when can Arsenal win when ramsey is playing. please prove me wrong.

Its actually when can Arsenal win without Arteta. We have won with Ramsey on the field a lot of times but it was all with Arteta on the pitch as well.

Arteta seems to be the Ramsey effect's kryptonite tongue.gif

If didn't win this game, the 3rd as good as gone and can just hope Bayern beat Chelsea. Heck, not even sure can get 4th place or not.
*
We might lose fourth as well. Now that Sagna is injured as well....WBA away is not easy mind you.

Should take Ramsey out bring Park/Chamakh in and put the Ox in for Gervinho.

Go 4-4-2. Newcastle and Spurs might just drop points which should ease the tension at WBA so its vital we get 3 points here. An absolute must! COYG!

Only if we were united, that penalty would have been ours in a heart beat.

Oh well, we did have some stupid defensive moments..

Coq really did play pretty well this game. Song, another massive performance from him.

Added on May 5, 2012, 9:44 pmand im sure, city will win newcastle. they need this win bad for them to win.
*
I won't complaint about the penalty decisions because Norwich had a couple which was wrongly not given as well.

We had enough to score 2 or 3 goals in that last 5 mins alone but we didnt take it. RVP one v one, Song backheel, Gibbs. We only have ourselves to blame IMO. Not to mention all 3 goals we conceded was due to sloppy defending.

The poor result aside look what just surfaced, looks really legit and I think this all but confirms how our new kit will look like.

Shearer's records are all crap. Because at that time he had more games. The EPL had 22 teams that time giving him an extra 4 games. Even the total goals scored in a calendar year which Robin failed to beat or equal by a single goal Shearer had 3 or 4 extra games, can't remember already the exact number.

Over 38 games though in modern day football (when the BPL first started with 20 teams till now) its by Cristiano Ronaldo with 31 if I am not wrong.

Arsenal.com has made the new 2012/2013 home kit official and will be available for preorder from May 7th onwards, UK time

For a brief background of the kit:

P/S: The collar and hoops on the sleeve is a very Dark Blue (Obisidian to be more precise) not Black. Dark Blue hoops seems to be the theme for next season.

Read the background info. The Obsidian hoops design is a tribute to Herbert Chapman's innovative approach to the game.

Sounds like gimmicky bollocks. Chapman introduced blue hoops to the socks, yet the shirt remained red and white only.

The shirt doesn't look too bad in real life, but the blue is still out of place. Woj's goalie shirt is horrendous.

The good thing is that this season's kit with that lovely white emblem + laurels will be going cheap at the end of the season. Good bargain.
*
Yeap agree.

Not the best looking shirt we have had over the years but certainly not the worst as well. I am just thanking God its Obsidian hoops instead of Black. Don't want our jersey to look like Sir Red Nose's lot down in Manchester.

Players look pretty good in it though. Tomas in that pic wub.gif

I was like meh at first with the home kit but now I find it really growing on me. I kinda find it stylish now. The players look really good in it though. Here is one of Theo:

The fact that it is dark blue hoops instead of black is a huge relief. I am just waiting to see what number Podolski gets. So so veryyy tempted to get Podolski <insert number> this year.

Never trust those sources until Arsenal.com or M'Villa's own twitter or his club confirmed. Otherwise, HEARTBREAK!!

This could very well happen. The same could be said with both Gervinho and Podolski and look where they finally ended up?

Transfer dealings seem to get leaked no matter how tight lipped you are nowadays.

for every Gervinho and Podolski, there's always Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa. i only believe it when either one of these three tweet about it: arseblog gunnerblog younggunsblog

they're the most reliable source for transfers. i followed them since last summer transfer windows. Mertesacker deal was revealed first by arseblog. JYP revealed by younggunsblog iinm.
*
Its 50/50 and I'm not saying you absolute must believe them rumours. What I am trying to say is that it isn't out of the realms of possibility any more as opposed to previously. Simple as that.

Back in the day its true we almost never sign anyone when its in the news but its different now. In fact most of our signings in the past 3 - 4 years, we knew they were joining us way before they were "officially" unveiled.

Sagna's move was made no secret. Nasri also, Gervinho, now Podolski, Oxlade Chamberlain to some extent and we knew Chamakh was gonna join us 6 months before it was even made official.

The days of secrecy in transfer dealings are long gone.

Honestly, for those who want Vertonghen that badly, how many 90 mins have you actually seen him play?

FYI Pascal Cygan was Ligue 1 Player of the Year when we signed him and look how good he turned out to be.

QUOTE(IsoZ @ May 8 2012, 07:12 PM)
How true. lol

I don't understand all the hype of Vertonghen, really. Yann M'villa is a more realistic player that we need to sign. I think it's a pretty done deal.
*
Yeap M'Vila is the more important target between the two. We are just lucky Song didn't have any injuries over the past 6 months otherwise we would've been royally screwed.

Defensive reinforcements is always welcomed of course, but don't forget Song is an option for CB also. If we do face a defensive crisis again (touch wood), Song could always drop back as CB and we could have a midfield trio of Wilshere/Arteta/M'Vila or you could throw in Rosicky for Wilshere/Arteta. which IMO whichever combination you choose will still look a pretty darn good midfield on paper.

If we do sign M'Vila it will almost certainly spell the end for the likes of Diaby and Benayoun. Don't think Ramsey will get much game time as well but that is football.

I really hope this signing really happens. We will look so so much stronger.

Ahhh exciting times ahead but we must first focus on securing third.
