cantik la Newcastle... mayb got chance end up like this:

3rd Newcastle
4th Spurs
5th Arsenal
*
Sorry but with all due respect if that happens England might lose a 4th Champions League spot next season

Newcastle suprsingly beating Chelsea, City and Everton is not an impossible. Heck they are above Wigan, Chelsea and Everton now. Anyway, we have to do anything and try to secure a third now and winning the remaining fixtures will be ideal.
*
Again with all due respect that is impossible. They would do well to get 4 points out of that 9 points. They have done remarkable throughout the season no doubt about that but I certainly don't see them being top 4 material at the moment, this season at least. They are sort of in a position whereby they are too good for the Blackburns, Sunderlands, Swanseas etc but still no to the level of the Arsenals, Chelseas, Manchester clubs, sort of like Tottenham at the moment. They will be one to look out for next season but this season is just too soon. Unless we royally screw up our last 3 games we should finish third and I'm thinking the Russian mob will squeeze into fourth.

I'd hate it if Rooney beats RVP to the golden boot which will be damn sad. Only 2 goals away now. 6 of Rooney's goals are penalties and god knows how many of those were handed to him on a plate from Starfish Young.

1st paragraph and last two sentences are definitely correct.

2nd paragraph, I thought 3rd place is confirmed group stages because 4th spot is always a "bonus" slot because of the UEFA coefficients to the top 3 leagues in UEFA.
*
Aiyo I seriously don't know what so complicated about this.

1. Currently England have 4 spots in the Champions League. 1st to 3rd automatic, 4th playoff. 2 or 3 years ago it was 4 spots, 1st and 2nd automatic and 3rd and 4th playoff.

2. Every spot England or whatever country has in the Champions League is dependant on UEFA's coefficient. The 4th spot is not the bonus, the bonus that England got in the last 2 years is the "3rd place gets automatic qualification". England has always had 4 spots as far as I can remember due to the English teams' strong showing year in year out but the "3rd place gets automatic qualification" was the most recent bonus.

Nah don't think so. Supposedly leaked pics have already surfaced from a pretty reliable source so my money is on the obsidian collar, red and obsidian sleeves one.

One of the most lethal strikers the game has ever seen at his peak but I'd take Thierry at his peak over him any day. Maybe a little biasness going on here but what the heck. tongue.gif

If anyone still remembers Wiltord he scored a hattrick for Nantes last night.

Ahhh which really brings me back.

Remembered some people commenting on here that Wiltord was a flop. You need your brains checked IMO.

Many was calling for Ox to come in, I was too at one stage but it's clear why Diaby was subbed in instead of the Ox.

Ox is still an enigma at this stage and he can be fairly anonymous as shown in the Chelsea game. Diaby's physicality was required to steady and slow down the tempo as we aimed to hang on to our point since Newcastle lost ground. Going gungho may actually backfire as Stoke, despite trying not to play football, was still fairly potent in counterattacking.

But seriously Diaby's legs are utterly useless. Maybe there's a teeny weeny chance that he might get over his injuries and become a regular like Robin and Tommy, but at the moment he's offering very little to the club and maybe it's better to clear out a spot for a new arrival.
*
Diaby in for Ramsey was perhaps the right move. But Santos in for Benayoun was mind boggling. I would have expected the Ox to have come on for Benayoun in the last 7 mins + stoppage time. Was pretty disappointed that Arsene chose to shut up shop for a point.

Wasn't happy that we tried to close shop, but under those circumstances it was the right thing to do. We weren't exactly dominating the match and Stoke could have nicked it towards the end when Chris Foy decided to give them freekicks for everything.
*
On hindsight it was the right thing to do because Newcastle lost. But if we had every chance at getting 3 points I don't see why we should shut up shop just like that, even more so with coming third as an absolute must with Chelsea 50/50 to knock the fourth place team out of the UCL. Spurs isn't so far off mind you.

If that was really the case (Stoke getting dangerous set pieces) I don't see how Santos could've added anything in terms of aerial defending also. As shown in previous matches (QPR and other games) he is absolutely useless in the air. Bringing Santos in for Benny instead of the Ox pretty much contradicts his decision to sub in Chamakh as an aerial threat and an extra attacking man as well with Gervinho gone earlier. What is the point of having 2 strikers in the box if there is no one on the wings to provide the supply? We had 2 strikers and ZERO wingers then.

Sorry I just don't agree with this one and I don't see anything logical apart from that Arsene was happy with a point which is really disappointing.

One could say that bringing in Ox would be a better thing to do if we were to go for the kill, but on the contrary if he came on and we actually lost the game then le Boss would have been criticised for not holding onto 1 point. Ox, given his tendency to dribble and charge at the opponents might lose possession too often and expose us to counter attacks. And yes, I was actually hoping that Ox would come on when the cameras showed him warming up, but it was Chamakh that came on instead.

I don't think Chamakh was brought in to support the attack, he did jack all in terms of attack anyway. Most likely he was brought in for his physicality and to knock down balls to our midfield. If we were to play like Stoke, i.e. lob the ball to the giant man Bendtner is our best choice but 1. he's not even here and 2. I doubt he'll be able to do much either since Bak's the only person left at that moment who seems capable of whipping in crosses and he's clearly fatigued.

I suppose we're on the same page - nobody is happy that we tutup kedai but we've seen it far too many times where our over-enthusiasm bit us in the arse.
*
He did jack all because he had 0 supply. I don't see how he could've done anything if the midfield chose to pass sideways and backwards instead of forwards and with zero pace on the wings not to mention zero wingers. Even Van P was struggling to get a touch what more Chamakh. True over enthusiasm has bit us a couple of times, hard, but if you don't buy the ticket, you will never win the lottery. Its 50/50 but to fail trying is better than failing to try at all.

This is the one aspect I admire about Sir Alex. As long as there is something on the plate he always goes for it till the very end. One of the main reasons Man Utd has had a phenomenal amount of late late important goals.
