It's more advisable to add those NPCs into your parties first before adding your friends into your party as an AI.

Because if you were to party with the said NPCs for a certain amount, you can build up a good relationship with them.
When that happens, you'll notice the smiley icons beside their faces changes(in the Client Quests Menu).

If it changes for the better(usually), you should talk to those NPCs around the ship's lobby.
They'll give you items, mostly skills for early levels is pretty darn useful.

To Force users, build up your relationship with Maloo is important because she's the only one that provides you with another 2 Light spells(the one she uses all the time) and that's the ONLY WAY you can get it in the game at this moment.

There only a certain ones where you can invite them into your party, you need to obtain their "Partner Cards" before you can invite them into your party.

As for friends, you just need them to be in your friends list.

As on how to get them into your party, once you're in the ship before jumping down to start your quest; talk to the terminal on the left(it has a keyboard looking thingy) and it's all there.

Harem party i guess lol.
Hunter has Auto heal.Though force has been spamming heals regularly and rotating between ice,fire and thunder nukes.
Rangers with launchers do great aoes handling multi mobs. Although in later stages, i think 2 forces might be a better options over 2 rangers for crowd control. Rangers do great aoe dmg but it fires in an arc instead of like force which does fully surrounding dmg.
For hunter if you summon as AI copy, best is to use partisan. Wire lance is moderate but u might not want the AI start grabbing and throwing mobs all around the place. Sword are pretty crappy. It would require 3 charges in order to have 3 aero slash.
Ask your friend to update his card when he switches into partisan and have it as the first weapon slot.

Juz an add advice on the friends/partner's card. Having ur friend on the friendlist will not workout. If u didnt update/add ur char card over the purple icon booth, ur friend will not be able to invite u. It'll show as blank when he try to summon.

If the last time u update ur card when u are lv 2, even u are lv40, ur friend when tried to summon ur ai copy will have a lv2 char instead of a lv40.
And changing respective weapon will also be affected if u want ur friend to summon ur ai copy as a designated partisan user.

Regarding building relationship with npc, if u are a force i would say yes with maru since she gives u 2 good spells which is overly hiked price for 2 light spells which priced at 300k-500k.

Other than that, there's readily abundance of skills/techniques that is ready to flood the hell of your pack during drops from mob. Some of this spells are dirt cheap sold on auction house.

As i said, the npc that comes along with ur storyline is pretty much useless after sometime. But not the ones that ur friend's npc card were. Especially ranger's with launchers are good pse burst machine if u have 2 of them around. You'll sometime see japanese with ai copies running around to trigger pse burst for lvling.

U could pretty much accomplish mission on your own pace without aid from players since they already gave u access to summoning them.

ya i notice too from green face turn to yellow smile face, btw what about Echo? yesterday night got her patner card but haven try it on quest, what she can? not same as Maloo?

Echo does a lot of lightning attacks.

Usually Maloo is a better choice.
Yeah, once it changes to yellow(at least) try talking to them(by picking the first option).
They should give you something.

If you're referring to Maloo, that quest is only for the ones that wasn't a Force originally.

You need to switch to a Force and talk to her(by picking the first option).

Force npc are quite restricted to a certain element type. That's the reason y i say at later stages they are very inconvenient. If you have a friend who lvl force with multi elements , it'll be very useful.
I have been playing around a new force acc designated for AI purpose only. As i noticed , i have assigned all spells under 3 macroed weapon*U can copy all weapons since later on u are given additional 3 weapon slots to rotate on*. The ai copy will spam all spells except for changing weapon.
In volcano cave exploration it'll only spam light ,ice ,thunder and throw in heals occassionally. On Ice tundra, it'll only spam light,thunder,fire and heals. This will again requires updating of player's card from the force user side.
Without updating the card if you are on volcano's region previously the last time , it'll spam ice spell in ice tundra region on the mobs there.

Another additional advise to survive in pso2. Take a look at the Matter board. Those are not just to accomplish for fun, u do not need to get 100%. But pls do the necessary weapon according to your class/job. At later matter boards quest u'll notice that some weapon had 3rd tier stats modifier. Power3,Shoot3 and so on. U do not need to enhance ur weapon to superiority. Following the matterboard quest will net u some weapons that's sufficient enough to save u loads of mesetas and get u off to the lvls. For units*Armours* will be quite a neccesity to get on to +10 since they do not had penalty when enhancing failed. Mobs gonna hit like a truck if u have a gimped setup.
