heya fellas, need some advise on some rear speaker upgrades...

- Your ride: polo tsi
- Prefer SQ/SPL/SQL: good clarity with light bass (just enough bass, not a thumper fan though)
- File format/medium used in your source: mostly 192kbps or higher mp3 or CD on my RCD510
- Genre of music you listen to: mainly jazz, unplugs, pop, country, sometimes classical and rock
- Setup type preferences: currently using bostons S60 component front (LIKE), but the S55 coaxial rear is quite crappy...
- Other requirements (if any): guess not a bass head so can skip subwoofer

budget below 1k, since i'm only thinking of changing rear speakers...
it's really under performing compare to the front S60 sad.gif

thanks ya nod.gif

if you have no amp, save up a little more for an amp.

Fade to the front. And add an amp if you really feel like spending money.

or if you're like me whos rear speakers are stock proton and aged more than 12 years, straight cut to the wires laugh.gif

Hi guys, my current setup from a few years ago is as follows :-

pioneer p80rs
focal k2p
audison LRX1.4
helix p400

However, this morning when I started up my car and drove out, i realize the component set is out. Only the tweeters are still having sound, the 6.5" both sides are completely out. What would be recommended to replace these focal k2p comps ? budget is around 1k - 1.5k.
*
considering being a reputable brand, and assuming IF you dont blast your speakers all day erry day, it could be just wires/connectors loosened.

perhaps try diagnosing it before making a conclusion to replace?

QUOTE(razorboy @ May 2 2012, 09:42 AM)
Used to do it when I just bought them in 09, but nowadays, once in awhile only.

For now, just looking for replacement options , I'd definitely bring it to the guy that does my wiring to have them checked out before doing anything. It's just that I'm out of town now cuz of exams.
*
i tend to blast my speakers time to time too, so i also face this issue some times, and all the time its just the wires being loose or not having enough contact and usually just need to unscrew the speaker out and clip it back.

hence why i recommended to check first unless you're itching for an upgrade (instead of replacement) then perhaps you can start listing out further criteria of your upgrade

=edit=
on your further edited msg:
usually the wiring on the amp/mono side should be no problem, they aren't the ones vibrating, the 6.5" speakers are, and if any loosen wires would happen, it would start from there first smile.gif

not really, i went with this set in 09 as recommended by ckmoy007 and I never looked back, very satisfied with the cash I've spent and I've never had issues. I'll try to find a local shop here to get it checked out then. But anyways,IF the comp set is truly out, I'm only looking to replace it not upgrade it. Something in the same ball park as the k2p.

p/s - just saw ur edited reply. lol. yeah, that's the part I don't dare to open up. But anyways, thanks. Will get it checked out.
*
let us know how it turns out then, also make sure you are with the guys checking on your speakers to avoid any bullshit stories unless you really trust them. they may just simply diagnose and claim its spoiled just to force you to buy something thats bad (or really dishonest ones, purposely damage your speakers sweat.gif )

hey guy

i plan to get a suzuki swift as my first car, but the gx spec is only come with 2 speaker at the front seat , and unfortunately i do not have any knowledge  about car audio system, mean 0%. i plan to get 2 speaker replace the front seat there and that 2 original speaker move to the rear passenger seat ? is that good idea ? or probably get another 2 small speaker on the side mirror there.. usually listen more on pop , rock, band or sometime classical. i dont think i needed woofer to boost up bass level. but atleast the normal speaker can give some minor level of bass sound.

i dont know this simple audio setup will cost how much . anyone can tell me?
*
save up for a decent component set, including installation rm500-1k give/take for an entry level. if you want you can sound proof/custom speaker mounting for the door panels starting maybe rm300-400++

easier if you search through this thread, or this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/832695

alternatively, you may call them up and ask for recommendation, list out the brands they provided and we can let you know if they are good or not smile.gif

or you could also goto a reputable ICE shop (like some of the shops mentioned over this forum frequently) and have them take care of everything.

If I just want a slight bass boost, should I go for underseat subwoofer? I'm getting my Inspira soon, and I have Rm2k budget for the ICE. Still thinking what to do hmm.gif
*
man, you've been asking literally the same question multiple of times, and i believe you are indeed getting the same answer. if you think you know your stuff, by all means just do as you like. it is your money after all.

Dude, easiest way to decide is to hang out with people with the same car model and try their setup. Incidentally Howie from EA Autoworks has a ICE-d out Inspira, but not showcar level ICE. You should try it out
*
his inspira ICE done liao meh? i everytime visit (recent one being last week, needed him to remove my car speakers and inspect the doors a bit but he too busy to see see lol) he everytime also havent done lol

- My ride - Myvi lagi best
- Prefer SQ
- File format/medium used in your source - MP3, USB and Bluetooth usage
- Genre of music you listen to ALL TYPE
- Setup type preferences - No idea what is this, totally newb in car audio
- Other requirements (if any) new car dont want to void warranty, dont care to entertain rear passengers

Currently was planing to get a 4" speaker for my myvi which located at the dashboard. Any recommended? budget about 300-400(MYR)

6" speaker located at backseat side door, won't so fast to upgrade 1st
*
save up for a good component set.

if you die die also don't want cut door panels, maybe can consult howie as he's done a lot of 4" dashboard setups. i personally can never accept those setups. laugh.gif

just want some improvement will do, as im not 12/24 hours driving that kind of people also.  blush.gif
*
entry level component sets starts from around rm500-1k+, require to cut/mod door panels as they are typically with 6.5" mid/midbass

i know about this, as my friend was doing car accessory shop, he do mention what exactly you said too
But i told him what i exactly want, as my house have several brands of car. I notice that Toyota stock speaker is acceptable for me. and my Myvi was the worst stock speaker compare to others. I just want to improve to beat the toyota stock speaker. So he recommend me a Rockford Fosgate prime series, 4", forgot model. But i hope there is more recommendation get by here. As long as after changed and it is acceptable for my ears. that would be enough cool.gif
if not, then will only continue spend more on 6" speaker at rear, and add 2 more at side panels and so-on  nod.gif
*
why not 1 shot save up and go with a component set with 6.5" door panel mounted mid/midbass speakers? why waste money for something you are already anticipating a regret with?

personally:
no to 4"
no to rockford

they are generally known for their SPL, not so much SQ. highly revered by the americans for the SPL too not to mention.

well, if you're into SPL, i guess that's one of the best you can go.
