U have to see how many ppl have that kind of money for a jetta... Next, most ppl prefer a golf...

3rd, jetta is c segment, but that price flooded with all kind of d segment...

The reasons can continue....... A lot longer...
*
Golf also c seg but seems like more popular also. And we are a sedan oriented market so it is quite a special case. Why ppl wan golf but not jetta?

List continue again......

Coz their sedan look uglier compared to their hatch.

Bro u test drive the 1.6 ady not? Not too heavy n sluggish for you?
SA told me if book now need to wait 3..4 months..how to wait la..need car asap hmmm..
*
I am perfectly fine with forte so elantra should not be a problem. I dont see why i need so much power coz i dun like to accel tat fast. In normal driving i think those excess power reserve is a waste for me. Just like forte i will say it is adequate rather than sluggish. So far only exora cps cant meet my requirement Lolz...
i will test next week.

I would expect this car selling price is in between RM80k to RM90k, which is around or under Forte 2.0 price, but now seem like the price is well above Forte 2.0 and crossing into Altis 1.8 price range, which is very expensive and not worth the money. One forummer said won't buy a car without VSM, but does the VSM really that important? I used to see a lot big and expensive car with this kind of features involve in accident at Karak Highway, like Estima, Alpha, BMW, Mercedes, Camry, for me, drive safely and logically is the most important.
*
Why do you need ABS? Drive safely and logically can prevent you from braking that hard and causing the wheels to be locked. Why do you need airbags? Driving safely and logically can prevent you from having accident and the need to deploy your airbag. Do you agree?

Many people simply dun understand what is an accident. If an accident can be foreseen then it will never be an accident. tongue.gif

When I speed up from 20KM/h to 80KM/h, the pick up feeling was similar to my 14 years old kancil manual, except the engine noise is much much quieter. actually my Kancil manual pick up was not bad many years ago, can reach 100KM/h from 0 in 11 seconds  laugh.gif

Next time I will try to turn off the econ mode and do a 0-100 speed test probably.
*
Wow! Kancil can accel faster than Myvi 1.3!

Very worried to buy now the 1.6 because so many said underpower and sluggish and somemore not cheap.
*
You really have to try the car yourself and feel it. Acceleration is quite subjective although the official 0-100kmh of 11.6s is not bad. Inspira 1.8 CVT 0-100 oso 11.4s yet nobody complain it is underpowered biggrin.gif

I never can understand why people insist on comparing Kancils, Myvis, Vivas, Vios, City, my grandmother's car when they're all different segments! Do an apple to apple C segment of a similar engine output and price comparison la
*
The biggest problem is that most people never drive a newer gen 1.6 C-seg car. In our market only Forte and Altis are C-seg with 1.6 engine and it is quite difficult to see a 1.6 Altis otr sweat.gif

Yes, Bufung is right on this. Acceleration is important, if a car is slow on acceleration, it would mean when there is a need in overtaking car it becomes dangerous.
I drove a Hyundai Getz 1.3 previously, and overtaking car is very dangerous with that car, due to the lack of acceleration. Not to say there is no acceleration at all, just the need for it when you need it.

Yes the Proton Preve will smoke a lot of car, and i can already predict a lot of Michael Scheumacher wannabe will be driving one.
*
I never try getz 1.3 before so i don't know how serious is that. but so many people driving Persona and Exora around so i can't really understand how dangerous would it be sweat.gif
Persona also arn 1.2tonnes with even less power and Exora 1.4tonne is even worse... Toyota Rush and Avanza 1.3 also wink.gif

Just got back from Citta Mall!

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!! I want this car!!

Tested the 1.8 Premium.

- I liked the greeting msg from the MFD.
- Sunroof is a neat feature to have.
- Nice deep center console/armrest space
- Sport pedal ala Golf GTI needed some getting used to.
- Electronic steering gets heavier the faster you go
- Electronic seats quite nice. Can adjust back/forward, height, tilt and center back support.
- Nice heavy door
- Ample space in the boot
- 6 speaker system not too bad. Although tested on radio only. Forgot to plug in my iPhone.
- Tried the ECO MODE ON/OFF thing. Apparently you are just turning the NOTIFICATION OF or OFF only. If ECO MODE ON, then the display will let you know that you are driving economically.
- Power wise.. felt like how a  1800cc car should feel. Yes engine noise can be heard but bearable.

In conclusion.. although 112k is a nice price to pay for the Elantra...there is just something that makes me want to take it over the Kia Forte or any other car within the same price range/segment.

thumbup.gif
Yupp no auto-lock. I remember having to push the lock button to lock the doors.
*
I love the organ type pedal with aluminium... The feeling is real good and heavier than normal pedal thumbup.gif
So far C-seg only elantra ,civic and golf/jetta have organ type pedal but the latest civic has cancelled the feature coz it is more expensive to make compared to the normal pedal biggrin.gif

So UMW and Honda Malaysia as well as TC should be proud of their offerings? biggrin.gif

Paid my booking fees! Wow, SA told me i m the 1st of his branch to test drive this afternoon.  rclxms.gif

doh.gif Really such A big question mark shocking.gif  shocking.gif  shocking.gif  when read some1 comparing the acceleration btw kancil and elantra.

Dont try to tipu yourself lar. Only your exhaust sound bring you the ummphh. Not the car performance.

Just a little comment on the height of this car.

It is not as comfort as i tot, the front and rear headroom is not satisfy as i compare with current altis 2.0. Surprisingly the legroom is much roomie than i expected. Good one rclxm9.gif

As i observe deeply, found out the disc brake is rusty. It might due to too long expose to the weather. Even thou SA told that this car is just arrived.
*
Headroom is sacrificed by the beauty of the roofline biggrin.gif
Rusty disc brake is very common one. You may check your brake after raining or washing car no matter it is a new or old car smile.gif

yeah, the SA kinda noob. know nothing. he din't want to give discount cause he said they did not get the 'margin or whatever' yet. cant remember. my gf's bro said discount 1000, shut up and take my money  tongue.gif . he agreed but he said it will not be certain (discount) until the launch?? dint it launch already? i dint care much la, he did the talking i was there molesting the car. i was only there to enquire about veloster.
no turbo, only the same "underpowered" 1.6 which alot of review said that too in veloster forums. but apparently 0-100 is good, under 9 secs. if 130k, i doubt it will sell. only advantage it has over CR-Z is back seats and of course, 3 doors design lol.

first batch all sold out i heard.

i would say its a great car as the family second car biggrin.gif just like how golf gti/tsi fits in. so i'm not surprised when i saw women are driving golf gti. and of cos, its a weekend ride for the husband and a daily ride for the wife biggrin.gif and the price of CRZ is just great biggrin.gif .
*
How big is the batch? Golf is decent enough to be a family car already. biggrin.gif
Thanks to our hybrid scheme so at least honda can sell their CRZ here rather than struggling in North America and Europe cool.gif

160K for 201 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque, still consider cheap loh.

Other brand name with those numbers will sell it around 200K already.
*
Later many people will start bashing and saying not worth it coz Mazda3 MPS only 175k with 256hp, go for japanese better sweat.gif

ya, first batch 120 units.

cos the car dont have much power compare to what they have in NA and Europe. the power can be easily matched by 1.2tsi or any diesel coupe. but in msia the pricing is just right for a flashy ride biggrin.gif like  a metropolitan flashy coupe
*
120 units not bad at all considering the position of the car. The sales should be even better when CVT coming. biggrin.gif
Strict 2 seater always have limited sales. Many people still need that kind of practicality and that's why veloster is selling so much better than CRZ in North America although Veloster only got 1.6GDi. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Kalist0 @ Apr 2 2012, 09:19 AM)
the reason why it is struggling in america is because, they thirst for raw power, and CR-z lacks that  rclxms.gif  they expect it to be a 911 carrera hybrid.

Added on April 2, 2012, 9:22 am

just saw another one in silver on my way to office. apparently waiting time for CR-z is at least 2 months. the wait could be caused by fully import as well. i wonder whats gonna happen when government removes the subsidies for hybrids. maybe by that time we have our Preve Hybird.

Added on April 2, 2012, 9:23 am

practical is also subjective, lol. to me it is 'practical' hahaha.
*
How come Veloster selling so much better than CRZ when their performance are so similar?

dude, i dont see FREED selling well. and to me its a more good looking brother from the same mother.

rear seats one of the points as well but i snooped in veloster forum and alot regretted because the lack of power. CR-z has a better acceleration but race from 0-100 crz won by just a fraction of seconds. i was kinda inclined to try out veloster but i guess with that price tag and hyundai brand, i don't have the balls to try it out yet.
*
Those people never test the car before buying? ohmy.gif
But the sales figure is quite a distant between the two. CRZ less than 500 a month, Veloster more than 3000 a month in US even before turbo engine coming rclxms.gif

different market i guess. they like trucks over there while over here trucks are considered rare compared to others. overall, it won probably because of the rear seat. well, they were planning on a better performance crz too, but no idea if its still going on. another thing is, it doesn't handle quite well according to the forum and reviews.

lol i have no idea but most probably they did test drive but thats what they say in forums  icon_rolleyes.gif i guess what they are saying is, when it needs to be 'pushed' then perhaps it doesnt produce the power they expect.
*
Maybe those people are having wrong expectation with the Veloster. Veloster is about the uniqueness and MPG in US. The car is more economical than the CRZ on highway which is quite a big headline bcoz a conventional engine outperform a hybrid in highway mileage biggrin.gif
People looking for better handling and performance should wait for the Turbo. But then again, people in forum only represents a small group of buyer in the whole market. Just like here and FB many people complaining but out there quite many people buying Elantra also. My friend booked the car yesterday and was told she need to wait for second batch. tongue.gif

People have different definition. Sports car may not be a performance car so it may not be fast. tongue.gif

Do u guys notice/feel the center aircond blower position are pretty bad? It going to blow ur hand most of the time... =.="

So far Sylphy and Forte make me feel that coz their center air vent is quite far apart with each other so nearer to my hand on steering. But Civic is the most obvious one coz the air vent is right behind the steering. sweat.gif
Elantra wise although it is pretty low but it is nearer with each other so not a problem for me. biggrin.gif

Good morning guys,

I test drove both 1.6HS & 1.8 last saturday, for some reason i have lost my passion towards this car. I think because waited too long and too many delay and dissapoinment.

My SA said i will get the car by end of April or beginning of May. But too bad no one can confirm if dark blue is available for 1st batch.

Still cant decide between K5 & Elantra, damn i think i really like Elantra despite everything, kene poison too deep...

If you can afford K5 then why don't you go for it? smile.gif
